Heh to those that remember a good dwarf, that asked an innocent yet profound question about hammerers ;).
Figured it would be really cool if some could post pictures of Weapons that are in game they would love to see the Mohawked Masters of unarmored combat wadeing into battle with.
RULES: 1) No elgi garbage
2) must be a good enough weapon to accompany a shamed dwarf on the road to meet grimnir after an epic DOOM!

Not all slayers carry epic axes of rune forged doom. Most, in fact 99% of em carry generic weapons occasionally from their previous life. a heavy pickaxe, a forging hammer...hell i expect some of the more deranged ones will carry an anvil on a chain for innovations sake. Snorri, for one carries heavy hand axe and a hammer. Or was it military pick(question mark..) no no..that was gotrek in the nuln sewers. Question mark unused because i cant find it on this damn spanish keyboard

Most slayer models carry axes and hammers went to ironbreakers. I'd say Slayers will primarily use axes.

to honor him
Shouldn't we ask : "I know Slayer can slay stuff, but can they heal? " :p

As I said once I say again.
Slayers will most likely get Dual wield, great weapons, axes and hammers. That way they can go hammer and axe like snorri, or the trademark greataxe like gortrex. But no greathammers because they are ironbreaker only.
That's the only thing that makes sense with Great hammers being IB only. And I doubt they lose hammerer's trademark great weapon or duel weild choice.
But isn't this post looking for weapon pics?

With so many slayer tabletop figures with axes I would pretty much expect Axes to be the prime weapon for slayers.
Hopefully dual weild and 2h ones.
No doubt there will be some hammers or swords hanging around for some variety.

Slayer with out an axe is like a Choppa with out a choppa - just doesn't make sense.
Now it would be interesting to see if they will get to use one handed hammers. I am slightly leaning towards...no.

In short it is to honor Grimnir. Straight out of Grudgelore it refers to an axe as "the slayer weapon".

What do you have against the European Lubricating Grease Institute?

I get that's more of an Engineer reference but c'mon! We're all dwarfs here.

Aren't there a whole bunch of 1h Hammer models that aren't being used much? Let Slayers use hammers (and axes) if for no other reason than we get more weapon models floating around in game.

Yeah in Dwarf lore, Grimnir had 2 axes. When he chose to march north to close the warp portal he left one behind and took the other. The one that remained is wielded by the High King, the other is either thought lost, or to be the one used by Gotrek. The Axe is therefore of massive significance to those who choose to share the fate of Grimnir in seeking a massive doom. It's not just a weapon, its the symbol of Grimnir.
Slayers use any weapon they are master of, but its a definite preference ;) I'm pretty much imagining a slayer career would only have access to the Axe, and maybe a left hand hammer like Snorri.
Really they could use hammers or axe or a combination, although the same could be said for the Ironbreaker in a post-Hammerer world (although IBer and Slayers will be distinctive enough that having the same weapons shouldn't matter).
I'd guess it'll be axes though, and hopefully DW axes and 2hd axes.

Hmmm I like axes I do.

They'll probably use Dual Axes and Great Axes. Just like the Ironbreaker can either use a shield and a weapon, or a big hammer, or axe. Then again Ironbreakers have greataxes so hmm ?? Maybe they'll just be dual wielded

It's official now. One-handed axes and hammers, and greataxes. (Seems Greathammers are for IBs only)

Not quite a good signature weapon if Ironbreakers use them, greataxes that is.
Anyhow, I have the burning desire to play as a dwarf wielding two short swords... (Curse you dwarf fortress!)
But I guess those kind of dwarfs are pretty ancient and certaintly not the Warhammer kind :(.

Doomseeker is a rank 2 morale and it uses the Chain axe graphic. http://www.gametrailers.com/player/45313.html near the end.

I wanna see the axes that have chains attached to the bottom of the axe and then link to their bracers.

Im quite sure the doomseekers are the most badass of the slayers. i mean charging around with chains with axes on the end, its like a fanbois wet dream...as long as he can swing one without hanging himself and cutting his hair off

A profound question it was indeed. And one we will never truly know the answer to.
