There are some basic statistics I think are important. Things like highest single hit damage. How long your character stayed alive. Number of monsters slain since the last death. I would love to see a recap screen after you die. Sort of like a personal best.

After you die a little screen would pop up and show you your highest single DPS that adventuring session compared to previous sessions. How long you managed to stay alive compared to previous bests. How many players to slayed compared to previous personal best. Etc. Etc.

The goal being that you have a little reminder about how well you are doing. If you were on a really good run and things were going great before you died. You'll have a confirmation and affirmation of your success. Maybe you got a new highest single DPS.

Basically comparing yourself to your own achievements is an easy way to intrinsically motivate people to continue to do better.

Pretty much like Team Fortress 2, eh?

I'm not sure of it would work well for an MMO, but i guess it could turn out to be a good addition.

You mean something like TF2 has?

I think that if it's going to be a pop up screen when you die, it should have an option to disable that, I think it could get rather annoying at times.

I don't think it would be as annoying for you as it would be for other people...

*tank dies in combat*

Tank: Dude, I mitigated over 4000 damage that fight...

Group: Stop looking at that screen and get back here...

Tank: And I got 6 killing blows!

Group: DUDE GET BACK HERE NOW!

Unless I'm mistaking it, it sounds like something that would go away after you respawned and could be looked at while dead or whatever.

I would rather just see this stuff tracked in the ToK instead of a little popup. There were all kinds of stats I used to track in WoW and thought it was fun. Highest crit, biggest heal, etc.

No additional pop-up. Just put it on that little screen that already says "You have died... but its OK!" You were alive for x min. You killed x others. "HIGH SCORE"! =)

In EQ2 you could go to your capital city and look at a "bulletin board" and it would show you how many of different mobs you have killed. 5000 fairies for example. You would also be awarded with titles depending on how many you've killed, 10.000 kills gave you a "Destroyer of something" title

I really enjoy having a way to keep personal stats. If they have the time, it would be really cool of Mythic to implement that sort of stat-tracking in the ToK. Not entirely sure about the pop-up; mayhaps if it was a toggle on/off feature as mentioned previously.

I would really enjoy something like you're suggesting Garthilk. I'm a big statistics buff, and seeing all my stats splayed out like that would really give me a good sense of accomplishment.
Plus it'd provide great guild/faction 'best of the best' arguments.

The idea of an online ranking system that only measures a players best performance between deaths is very interesting to me.

It could have highest damage ever done, higher DPS ever done in 60 seconds, number of deaths, number of player kills..

If it got implemented, people will be very happy ^^

I actually really liked that in titan quest. It had highest dps, best mob killed. Im not sure i would want it poping up but maybe a different button or tab to press to see all your personal achievements like this.

What people might not realize, is that there is already a popup icon screen at death. It asks you if you want to respawn. Below the respawn button could list your performance since your last death.

Thats a really cool idea actually and it could show best for your last death and you could have something somewhere else for best ever.

I think that could work well because you wouldnt have a whole bunch of stats. Youd just have what you just did in your last life. Just an idea

"Congratulations! Since your last death...

You've set the record for the longest fall!"

It would certainly add enjoyment to the game.

It sounds like a good idea in theory. I'm just not sure though. People will do stupid idiotic things to try and "win" in any form, whether that is Sorc trying to hard to DPS and incuring huge backlashes or whether its a Warrior Priest gone crazy trying to DPS and then noticing all his friends are dead and he is next.

The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absenceReligion comes to mind, if that's what the quote is about I very much dissagree

If there aren't any proof for something like a theory it's officially void since it's correctness hasn't gotten any confirmations

Therefor it's not correct to say that simply because I wan't something I can make it happen with the willpower I posses.

That sounds like a good idea, I can't see why they shouldn't look into implenting it

They should just build in a small warning when you die, saying "New highest enemy players killed" and the like, so you can access your ToK if it interests you.

And if you're worried that people are going to brag... don't they already?

They've already said that they'll hand out braging rights in various ways, so no worries if it's yet another.

I've been advocating this kind of stat-tracking idea for a while now.

It gets my support!
