View Full Version : Magus and Disc

Hey I've seen many threads on the Magus / Mage disk and had a few thoughts.

What about swiming, what about riding mounts, what about this and that. What if the disc was something that could help them in PvP or maybe gave a minor speed increase OR if NOT used gave a minor speed decrease?

What if the incentive to USE it was there but perhaps there are times when it would not have to be used like Riding a mount or swiming?

Perhaps for the RPers (which I never full understood) want to pull into a tavern and have a seat? Mr/Mrs Magus there might not fit in. You might find threads on the RP forums that read something like " END MAGUS DESCRIMINATION " Sign pention etc.

Look, I love the magus with out even getting the invite to BETA and yes I still love the bushy Sorc as well BUT I've always played a mage / magus in any MMO.

Seeing a magus sitting high atop a floating disc is a pretty dam nice sight and yes I would imagine some other playing knocking some smart mouth magus off his disk would be a nice sight as well. Perhaps there is room for ideas here but then again I have not seen how it is in beta.

Post your thoughts and thanks.

The disk is a daemon and one barely under the control of the Magus. Mythic has said that the Magus will never get off the disk. If it happened the disk would eat the Magus for controlling it.

There is no water fighting or dungeons. What little water there is you can only swim on the surface and awhile back they said the Magus would just hover over it.

What XShrike said.

And I'm pretty sure the Magus will get some kind of buff he can cast so the Disc will move at the same speed as a normal mount.

And no, the Magus should not get any kind of speed increase from the Disc in general, otherwise it'd be unkillable in PvP. Ranged DPS that is faster than everyone else to help with kiting? No thanks

Mangus? Is that some kind of fruit?

I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I couldn't help myself :D

How are they going to work mounts into it? I mean if they never get off the disk, but it can't increase their speed that won't last I gurantee it. You can't have every class move at mount speed and just not allow a magus to move faster than normal run speed. Just like tauren's "field run" in WoW, it didn't last because you can't treat 1 race/class differently than everything else. I am positive there will be some kind of buff that increases their disk to mount speed.

And to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't be suprised if the "disk always, always disk, never off the disk" idea gets scrapped in beta. I don't care either way, but I can honestly see that sort of thing happening.

What if you can't fight while swimming in deep water? Then the magus could hover above deep water and rain destruction on the melee class characters who cannot retaliate...

Now that we've got that out of the way...I don't think there won't be any water deep enough to not be able to fight in, as there is no underwater combat in WAR. Even if there was, the Devs would have made sure that the melee classes wouldn't become useless against the Magus.

Come on folks. So the OP mis-spelled Magus several times, there's no need to make troll posts about it.

I have fixed the spelling, and changed the topic to be a little more understandable.

I would like to point out that Josh said this (http://joshdrescher.com/page/2/) and then this (http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php?p=570842#570842) then what do we have here (http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/gameInfo/armiesofWAR/DarkElves/Careers/Disciple.php). So tell me whats the difference between a Blood priest (http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17201) and a khaine based melee healer? Apart from the names of the powers i cant see one.

My point is, nothing is set in stone and while he may say never and its heresy now we may find out its not so in the future.
Thing is before this game, as far as i knew, Chaos Sorcerers + champions with the Mark of Tzeentch could dismiss and re-summon discs and it wasnt an eat your soul episode if that happened.

But meh, after i wrote all that im thinking to my self i dont actually care if i never get off the disc with my Magus "o nose i will be sitting on a floaty Disc in pubs! anyone makes a stupid remark and their horror food" etc.

Like I said before I don't know a whole books worth of lore regarding this mmo however I have noticed that in this stage of mmos we can be sure of one thing, nothing is certain.

When WoW was being developed we never thought they would wait so dam long to add rewards for pvp or areas designed solely for pvp. I'm sure people playing today never thought it would take 3 years just to get towns that can be taken over or siege weapons etc. ( makes me happy WH is starting out with all of the above )

So I thought why not ask some unique stuff about the disk as I've not seen anything posted like the post I made other than pro and con posts .

I'm fine with the disk, honestly however I do miss out on underwater stuff. I wish there was underwater entrance to a sunken temple or cave etc. Perhaps that will be something we wait a few years for. I'll deal

Oh and trolls suck, I pee on every one of you

Simple. Doors are wide enough. Because if the disc wouldn't fit through a door, neither would a Chosen or a Black Orc.

What /I'd/ love to do is not only sit down on the disc, but move while sitting. Could give a kind of indian-guru on a flying carpet vibe, y'dig?

No one is saying they won't get a speed increase at all. The general idea is that they'll get a castable buff which increases the speed to mount speed. They just won't have a passive speed increase that always work, because then you would't be able to kill them as they'll kite you to death with their superior speed.

He never said that their idea was wrong, he just said that there are no "Blood Priests", which there aren't. The whole Blood Priest argument was started by someone claiming to know someone that works at Mythic and having inside info that there will be a melee healer for DE called "Blood Priest".

Pretty much everyone agreed there would be a melee healer, it wouldn't be named Blood Priest though, which it isn't.

Not letting the magus of the disc sounds like a good idea to me
because it forces the developers to think HARD about topics like
How will he get a mount ? What happens if he is thrown down? How can he go sittin in the pub ? How will he take a dump? And they sre forced to come up with NEW and CREATIVE things for us to enjoy.

My Guesses
Mount: when not engaged in combat the disc turns into a mount (screamer, raven, floating stingray, a bigger disc)
Throwdown: the disc catches the Magus as he falls. Could be some fast recovering special move
Pub: Sit down on the disc BUT we all know Magus are more the standing-on-the-bar-having-exotic-strangely-coloured-drinks-and-not-interested-in-cards-thank-you-guys
Dump:Simple use your blackhole nimbus transportation spell and teleport it into the chaos warp

to be serious:Many of you are scared of the idea that the Magus could be the most disabled class but let´s just wait until Mythic shows us what they have in plan for him.
