View Full Version : Pre Quest Completion

I was thinking on something that I thought would be kinda neat. Why should we have to travel, kill X wolves than meet with a guy in the same area who wants us to kill Y wolves.
So I kill X wolves in the same area as the quest guy (I assume WAR has zones) and happen to find a quest that wants me to kill Y wolves. If I already killed X (lets say 5) and The guy wants Y (lets say 8) than I should only have 3 kills needed.
I think as long as it is in the same zone that he was wanting you to kill the wolves than it would be perfectly acceptable. The book that already records kills could be used to tell the quest giver than you have already accomplished partial work.
Although I do need some assistance with this idea as I already see some issues. One being I don't think you should be able to 100% complete a quest before even getting it. As well as certain quests should just not be allowed to be finished before talking to the giver.
These are just random thought scraps, feel free to contribute or alter the idea and share it with us.

*Insert video where Paul talks about killing bears*
Basically, what you are saying is already in the game.

Ahh ok, great. Sorry about that, I have forgotten stuff since I went away for a bit after I heard it was pushed back.

Just to back this up and provide a couple more details, the exact feature you're talking about is in the game.
The ToK is supposed to keep track of everything you kill.
So say you're killing Corrupted Bears in Zone A, you kill 100s of them because they drop something you like.
One day you go to Zone B and find a NPC handing out rewards for killing Corrupted Bears. The game knows you killed 100s already, and the quest completes automagically.
Like Paul would say, "that is cool"!
It really is.

I have a great idea for making Open RvR more fun... how about using the keeps they used in DAoC?

Hey what about adding Siege Weapons too, wouldn't that be awesome?

I think it'd be nice if we could destroy each race's capital City. Perhaps that could be the primary objective of RvR.
What are your thoughts?

You know what would be friggin sweet???? if they made a PvP focused game based on the Warhammer universe, and let different arch-enemy races fight against each other, like realms, so then they could actually call it RvR.. hmm..
edit: I just found out that the game i was mentioning above is actually already in the making. It's being developped by Mythic whom is responsible for DaoC. maybe they could add keeps and siegeweapons etc. that would be so cool. hwat do you think?

The one where you take pieces of your enemy and what-not reminds me alot of AV in WoW. I dont see how they claim it to be that original. But hell it is fun. Made me wish all PvP was like AV in WoW. AB and WSG sucked.
Still. How do these guys know that I killed a dozen bears in the other woods? That is the only part that bothers me. Maybe something where you just take small and insignificant things from them. Like a tooth or tip of an ear.

Oh yea cause Blizzard invented the concept of taking body parts of enemies as trophies... When you think about it, absolutely nothing is original....
They know through the Tome of Knowledge, which is magic, just like the elves, dwarfes, chaotically mutated beings, etc... are. You have no problem believing those right?

Im confused. Where am I talking about taking trophies? Im talking about game mechanics here. Not ideas of what the triggers can or cannot be.
The tome of knowledge keeps track of your kills and achievements.
So it will count almost everything your doing in the game world, and the best, it will reward you with quests, xp, gold or similar stuff.

The part where you said "where you take pieces of your enemy". I'm really not sure what you meant here, but the only thing I can think of it meanign would be trophies.

I use that word at work all the time. It's a great description of how many people percieve technology :D

I think the mods have a sense of humor and know how tongue-in-cheek most of the comments are.
