Founding & History of the Keenblade Mansion

Built on the rocky cliffs that make up the shores of Karond Kar, the Keenblade Mansion was founded over a millennia ago and has stood through four generations of the noble Keenblade family. Uncountable are the number of deaths cause by this place, its history saturated in the blood of hundreds of thousands of unfortunate men and beasts.

Lazul Keenblade was first to establish the family as a powerful slave trading empire. The generations before Lazul had trained the vicious beasts of Naggaroth to serve in the Witch King’s army. It was evident at an early age that he possessed little talent for bending the will of beasts and so turned his attentions the other aspects of living in Karond Kar, slaves. The humans, Orcs and other creatures of this earth are a valuable commodity to any Dark Elf noble and they are willing to pay a hansom price to gain them as slaves. Lazul took advantage of this, and with a ship crewed by corsairs began raiding villages across the wide ocean. His raids proved more than successful and soon he had enough money and slaves of his own to build himself a mansion.

He placed his mansion atop a rocky cliff overlooking the Sea of Chill, north of Karond Kar. The number of slaves who perished during its construction was in the hundreds. Their deaths ranged from being crushed by large marble stones used in the construction to being punished under the whip or sword for sluggish work. Many of the slaves last cries before being decapitated or worse were ‘what is made with blood shall end in blood’, and since then every Lord of the Mansion has met a bloody end.

One hundred years after its completion Lazul took a wife by the name of Madiiz who bore him two sons, Yeurn and Kanel. Perhaps too soon was Lazul’s decision to let his sons join him on his raids, for Yeurn died upon the second journey at the age of one hundred and fifty-four. Kanel, however, lived to see his father die and inherit his estate. For the next five hundred years Kanel ruled the house of his father until his death at the hands of the traitorous Asur. His only son, Hikren, was now Lord of the Keenblade Mansion.

Soon after inheriting the estate, Hikren took on a wife by the name of Midia who gave birth to twins, a young boy and a young girl. He would have smothered his daughter in her sleep had it not been for Midia. She argued with Hikren to let her watch over the girl, and soon he reluctantly agreed. From that day forth Midia refused to let Maibian out of her sight, fearing Hikren would kill her. His favor in his son Kaleth was obvious, and fueled a hate that would eventually bring about his death. One day Hikren decided Midia no longer served him any purpose and had her sacrificed at the Temple of Khaine. Most believe he did this because he feared Midia and Maibian were plotting his death. He figured once he removed Midia, killing Maibian would be simple.
Fearing for her life, Maibian persuaded her twin to help her kill their father for not only what he did to their mother, but to also inherit the mansion. Kaleth agreed, intent on ridding himself of his sister soon after. Kaleth and Maibian challenged Hikren and killed him, thus beginning their legacy as Lord and Lady of the Keenblade Mansion.

Aims & Goals

Our aims are simple, the Keenblade’s shall be the most renowned and feared slaving family in all of Karond Kar, proven by means of raiding the shores of Ulthuan and the distant realms of men. The goals of those within, however, are much deeper and more sinister. The Lord and Lady feud over control of the mansion, pulling its occupants into the civil dispute at any chance they get. It has gone as far as attempts at each others lives and may not stop until one has succeeded.

Organization

“Shhhh... Now listen carefully, for if the masters hear we shall surely be flogged for our disobedience. No don't worry about introductions, you are a slave now. Such things don't matter anymore...

If you wish to live, heed my words. They are called Druchii, the ones who stole you from your homeland. Who will whip and beat you. Listen to their orders and do what they tell you without question. Take their beatings if you want to live. Quiet...someone is coming....

We haven't much more time, so listen. The Lord and Lady rule, although they are plotting each others death. Such is the blackness of their hearts. For our sake I hope they both end up dead. Next there is the Black Guard. These two are killers, chosen warriors of the Lord and Lady. If you meet one you meet your fate.

Yes there is more. Assassins–death bringers–stalk this place. Constantly watching....no, you will die by their hands if you try and run.

No more questions...just know you are here for one purpose: to work until you die...”

Druchii - Warriors of Khaine, black hearted. Druchii. Upon acceptance they will be assigned to a member of the Black Guard.

Assassins - Death is their art and only the Lords and Black Guard surpass them in power and skill. While not practicing their trade, they watch over the mansion grounds to make sure the slaves stay in their cells.

Lieutenants - The eyes and ears, as well as the personal bodyguards to the Lord and Lady. Their words are the words of their master.

The Lord and Lady- The ruthless leaders of (the guild). Disobeying their word is certain death, either by their hands or the hands of the Black Guard.

Responsibilities: The Lord and Lady have a certain degree over the happenings of the mansion. The Lord is responsible for all things related to warfare. The equipment, . It is by his decision that one may enter or leave the mansion, or so he believes.
The Lady is responsible for the upkeep and general maintenance of the mansion.

To make their lives easier, the Lord and Lady have spilt a small portion of their control over to the Lieutenants, their personal bodyguard. It is their duty, once a member has been initiated, to watch over them and make sure their duties are fulfilled. However, their main duty is to protect and serve their master with the utmost of loyalty.

The Assassins within the mansion serve two purposes. If the Lord or Lady need something done that requires their expertise then one or more is called upon. Their second duty is to maintain a watchful eye over the mansion grounds and all that surround it, acting as watchmen for the Lord and Lady. If someone approaches, they alert their masters. If a captive tries to escape, they kill them.

Finally the Druchii. The only control they have within the mansion is over their own personal effects. It is each members own responsibility for their personal possessions, other than their armour and weapons.

Rules of the Mansion

In order to keep the mansion under their control, the Lord and Lady have established rules to be followed. Disobedience shall be met with swift and deadly vengeance.
No member of the mansion is to speak out against the Lord or Lady, unless they seek their death. If anyone is to be killed it will be at the hands of the Lord or Lady or their Black Guard. Those who cause harm upon a person may expect the favor to be returned in equal or greater fashion.

Membership

Any Dark Elf character may join. There are two things we need before allowing you to join. One (1) is that we ask you to post a profile of your character to be reviewed for consistency with Warhammer fluff and for the overall functionality of the character within the guild. Second (2) is that after your profile has been accepted we ask you to post a short writing sample. The only restrictions in place over this sample is that it may not be a fight scene and it must be with the Dark Elf character you plan on using. Although the longer the sample the better the feel we will have for your writing ability and the better the chance that you will get the position you request. The writing sample is here to replace the usually long trial roleplays that never seem to get finished. Please do not post a writing sample until your character profile has been approved.
It would be nice of you to include the following in your profile:

Name:
Gender:
Actual/Apparent Age:
Occupation:
City of Origin:
Appearance:
Clothing/Armour:
Weapons:
Skills:
Background:

The Mansion

Overlooking the Sea of Chill atop a jagged and rocky cliff, the Keenblade Mansion is an impressive monument to their legacy. The imposing black marble structure has stood the test of time for over a millennia and has seen four generations of Keenblades. The marble exterior is the home of many gargoyles and evil creatures of the night. The mansion layout is as follows:

First Floor
Atrium - Opening the huge wooden doors brings you into the main atrium. This is the second largest room in the mansion besides the throne room. Flanking either side of the entrance are two massive black marble staircases which lead to the second floor. High above is the ceiling, open to the sky if it were not for the huge stain glass window. The main focus of the window is the insignia of the Keenblade family. On the right day at the right time, the symbol is cast down upon the cool marble floor.

Throne Room - Directly opposite of the entrance and placed behind similarly large wooden doors as the atriums is the throne room, where the Lord and Lady hold court. The black marble continues into the throne room. Behind the grand throne is yet another glass window. The design has changed with each Lord and now consists of Lord Kaleth and Lady Maibian’s betrayal and murder of their father, Hikren. Looking past this gruesome memoir shows the Sea of Chill. Along the walls are the many trophies and bloody banners captured on the many raids, this amasses quite a collection.

Armoury & Servants Quarters - Just before the throne room the atrium splits into two corridors, left and right. Following the left hallway will take you to the armoury and servants quarters. This is where the personal weaponry and armour of the members is stored, as well as any treasures obtained during raids. The servants on this side of the mansion are in charge of keeping the equipment clean and in good health. Those who are slacking in their duties answer to Lord Kaleth.

Dining Hall & Servants Quarters - Following the right hallway will lead you to the grand dining hall. The servants quartered on this side of the mansion are in charge of the upkeep of the mansion under the watchful eye of the Lady Maibian.

Second Floor
The whole second floor is built to house the many members of the mansion other than the servants. Each Druchii may decorate his room as he wishes. Also upon the second floor is the grand balcony, which overlooks the Sea of Chill. On either side of this balcony shoot up the personal chambers of the Lord and Lady.

The Towers
The four towers of the Keenblade Mansion were made to mimic the many mighty towers of Karond Kar. The highest of the two are in the middle and at the back of the mansion and overlook the sea. None are allowed into the personal chambers of the Lord and Lady unless given permission.
The remaining two towers are half the size of the others and are set in front of the mansion. Still, none but those with permission may enter and both are kept under lock and key. One tower holds the annuals and records of the mansion, however, such records only exist if the Lord takes the time to write them down. The other is the vault tower. This is where the more exquisite of the treasures are kept.

The Docks
This is where Lifebane makes port. All the slaves captured on the raids are taken directly into the dungeon, which lays at the end of the dock.

The Dungeons
At the end of the dock is a large opening cut into the face of the cliff. This is the main entrance into the dungeons. Once inside the only light is that of the guards, and they do not share it willingly. There are two parts of the dungeon. The prisoners are held in cells capable of holding a hundred men and women standing shoulder to shoulder, back to chest. Although a clever slave master can manage fifty more. There are six of these, each sorted in groups pertaining to race and sex. The other part consists of a torture and execution room where many of the members are able to practice a new skill upon a slave, with the Lord or Lady’s grace of course.

The Slave Ship Lifebane

Lifebane is the only slave ship the Keenblades have ever owned. It has been as far as Cathay and the Southlands. Most of the ship is black. The slave ship is quite large, able to hold up to two hundred captives (in less than roomy conditions, of course) as well as a full crew. There is an unwritten rule for the Keenblades, if you set sail in Lifebane you must not return until your cargo hold is full. So far every trip has held this oath, and sometimes the journeys can take up to several months fo fulfill it. Lifebane is also equipped with six both throwers, just incase the traitorous Asur try to stop them.

There is a slight division amongst the members of the mansion due to the feud between Kaleth and Maibian. Members marked in red currently support Maibian rather than Kaleth, while those in purple are the opposite (in support of Kaleth rather than Maibian). This division is decided through roleplay and will not be assigned to a member upon joining. Any member in black is currently neutral.

It is our intentions to bring this guild into the Warhammer World in which Mythic is creating. This is our current vision of how the guild will work 'in-game' but is subject to change as more information is released to us. An example being the guild's location.

Very interesting. I've been meaning to make a court of druchii's for a long time, but it seems you did it first. It's too bad there is no way in hell Dintathra will serve under someone else at the moment, I don't think I'll be joining.

Something that bugs me though; The Black Guard is the Witch King's personal guard, and I doubt that he'd send any too help with your sibling rivalry. My opinion would be to change their name, so that there won't be any confusion.

I don't know, maybe I'm just being an for saying anything, but meh..

Good luck anyway, I hope it works out for the best!

Good to see a fellow Druchii guild on the forums.. :)

I'm currently leading my own band of Dark Elves, the Dark Ravens (we're at 7 members so far)..

Are you US or EU based?

Rimner and I live in the US, so that's probably where we'll be. I've looked at your website, you guys seem to be mostly from the EU, if I'm not mistaken?

Correct, although one member is from the US, but wants to follow us onto the EU servers (he's a friend from our old WoW guild)..

I'm glad we wont be competing for members then..

I believe I said something about that somewhere in the process of brainstorming. But guess who didn't listen...

you can change it, i don't care. I just liked the sound of it....

We could go with 'Bodyguard' but that's boring...

Yeah, that is boring.

How about something like Lieutenant, or something. Anyone else got any ideas?

Oh, by the way, I think I am going to put "recruiting" next to our name. I guess you'll see it before you read this.

Styling your bodyguard 'the black guard' would be arrogant, insulting to the real black guard and liable to get Malekith in a hissy fit, which might be a nice thing to keep in the guild. Just a suggestion. Also, your ship has six "both throwers", FYI.

Well thanks for the info but this is a dead guild, therefore it doesn't matter.

Rimner, don't give up on the idea of this as it seems to have a very good story line and will eventually have a good following (I am considering joining). One thing you have to remeber is this, a lot of people and I mean a lot are becoming very picky in joining "Rp" guilds now as some folks have some "excrutiating role playing rules" (I have been thrown out of rp guilds for asking a question in a non role playing fashion), so people that have experience are being very careful in choosing their poison (like me).

On the one hand a very strong positive I see with this and this is coming from someone who loves "DE" is it is a all Dar elf based guild, something few people wanna limit themselves to at the moment due to them racking up numbers (not all big guilds are a good and constructive thing).

So far currently this guild is in my top three on joining and the requirement of a story in "Druchii" fashion and attitude is a positive (trust me keep going with this).

One question though, are you all going light, medium or hardcore role playing?
