View Full Version : Trophy Idea: Bloodstains

It just came to my mind and perhaps the devs like it if it´s not in yet:
One Trophy could be blood on your armor. Different types of splatter, pool, patch or whatnot of the red goodness. If you got 5 slots of blood on your body, The badassery is guaranteed (face included).
Take it away, Justin Webb.

Its an okay idea, but it wouldn't really make sense in a story way - stains would fade.
But ultimately its not worth the effort programming just for a few stains - hardly worthwhile when they could be developing huge golden trophies for better things like capturing the enemy king.

Well among thousands of trophies theres surely room for a few bloodstains. They should be made fairly quickly and enhance the overall experience. More of them means meaner look. So why not ?

Lets not forget the rating this game is going to receive - I failed to mention that in my first reply.
Too much blood means a higher rating which means less players or most importantly less profit.
Less profit means less developers, means less new cool stuff.... etc etc.

I like the idea. Sometimes you don't want some big skull on your shoulder, but something more subtle. Bloodstains aren't going to change the rating at all. You need a lot more than that to lose a teen rating.

Actually, i think this was argued in a thread or a podcast...its not the amount of blood but its the way its portrayed stains are fine gallons of it on the floor....fine, but spraying from arteries and stumps / necks, a no no....so it wouldnt not be allowed from a rating point of view...i just dont think most people would find a 'stain' that impressive or that intresting to make it a worthwhile trophy.

If blood stains are on the models at all then it should be done passively not directly by the player.
It all seems a bit forced to me and breaks immersion - I mean you don't see many Orks oiling themselves up with a few choice blood stains before battle like some ponce putting on loriel lotion "because I'm worth it", do you?

God I love that show!
More blood for the blood god!!!!!!!
either way I think if you could find a feasible idea to make it a trophy sure why the hell not?

I like it personally.
Would be pretty cool to have a dripping bloodstain on your sword or something.

I like this more. I think the mroe people you kill without dieing then you should get something like mroe blood if the rating will allow it. Trophies to me should be big and grand to show that someone better then you. Blood in my opinion should be something that you jut kinda get after going out and killing lots of people.

I'd personally like a Progressive bloodstain/dirt sort of mechanic, Say if you've killed a few people your armour will get a bit grubby, your sword will be stained with some blood and your legs will be muddy from running about. It should fade in about 5-10 minutes after combat, and should be toggable so people could swich it off.

...muddy ! Yeah, cool. Mud too. Good idea !
I hope they either thought in this direction already or will, when they read this.

Yeah I really like this idea too. The longer you stay up the the more blood on your person but if it couldn't be done I would happily settle for a blood stain trophy. No one should be disagreeing with additional aesthetic-only content.

I like the idea of it building up automatically and getting bloody swords and so on as your morale builds, thats absolutely fine.
(I even think a few people seemed to have credited me with the idea...)
But actually player placed blood splatters it stupid.

Sounds kinda lame to me. Why have a blood stain on your armor when you can have a decapitated head dangling down?

Blood, mud, horns/spikes losing their tips after some time in a battle would be awesome. IF you don't have to pay to repair/clean your armor...

Yeah that was my point too originally, but in addition to that having bloodied swords and armour after an intense battle (which slowly wears off) would be cool.
Imagine seeing a Black Orc in a war camp dripping with blood, the most you've ever seen - you'd know straight away hes come from a huge battle and respect him. Would be very visual and cool.

Keep dreaming that mechanic would be the biggest waste of bandwith
Now a blood stain trophy or muddy spots trophy thats something Mythic could and IMO should do (as long as its feasible)

Capitalism for teh winz...
Anyways, remember that it is the small things which adds up to the huge impact. I think bloodstains is a good idea personally, although I am not too sure of having them as trophies is such a good idea. They could just occur after/in combat.
Then of course it is the "oh so moral" conservatives who need to not see blood or sex and all, who obviously needs to be catered to...

Maybe instead of having it apart of the trophy system it might be cooler for armor to have a "bloodstained" variant that appears once you've been on a killing spree for 10 people or more and goes away when you die. That way people will know that you're a badass and running amok.
Anyways, I want to see some kind of scars added in to the trophy or progression systems.

To be honest I don't see it as so much of a problem, Spell effects would cause alot more strain on the server. If you gave people an option to turn it off it wouldn't effect their lag etc.
Sure it might put 0000.00001 percent extra strain on the servers, but once again the same arguement could be used for ANYTHING added to the game which is not entriely needed like Trophys, animations, spell effects etc.

Wouldnt it be easier for you just to get a blood coloured/splattered dye?
Make it like getting the Red-Tiger skin for your weapons in Call of Duty 4. Your have to kill a bunch of people and do a hard quest. It cxould be a symbol of elite-ness.

I'd hardly call getting a few blood stains on your armour something worthy of having to do a quest for... sounds retarded.

I wouldn't consider dirt to be much of a trophy. A trophy needs to be an item not a stain.

I don't think Rating has ever had much of an influence on games, save for the killer AO rating. Name one mature rated game that was awesome to play yet failed cuz of its rating :/

Hence why it would make more sense as an elite dye.

I like the blood idea! Might be hard to put it into the game, but if it's not, throw it in! Also, would be cool if there were other creatures with different blood colors like green and orange! Anyway, I at least like the idea!
