The Shadow Warrior Footage...

So in this new interview with Paul Barnett, there is some gameplay shown every now and then... and it' a Witch Elf's point of view, and there are a ton of Shadow Warriors runing around, and using Melee. I noticed that one was actually owning. I guess this is Assault? I want your opinion on what we've seen.

Well I'll not draw any conclusions from the footage in regards to our melee prowess, however I it appears that we'll have a knockback ability, which rocks :D

I'm more worried about the parts where 2 marauders in those new video's killed an archmage and later a shadow warrior in under 5 seconds each...

I also saw a SM almost 3 shot a Marauder. Its still early I think it will all come out in the wash.

I think you are jumping the gun here.

First of all, we don't know what level these characters are, the Marauders could have a huge level boost on their opponents.

Second of all, we have no idea what these people were equipped with, whether or not they had any experience playing etc.. For all we know, the Marauders could have had great equipment and been very familiar with the game, and the Shadow Warrior/AM could have been nearly naked with crappy gear.

Also, we have them slaughtering rdps who doesn't even try to kite, even when its 2vs1. You can't blame some decent players for slaughtering terrible ones.

Pauls Interview 3:56- don't look at the Marauder that is the main focus of the fight but his buddy next to him in between the 2 SM. Watch the SM on the left hand side and pause the footage after each swing you can (not so clearly see) after 2 hits the Marauder is under 50%. If you pause the footage again right before he exits the screen you can see after the 3rd hit he is well under 75%.

Everyone died so fast in this vid, very different to everything we have seen so far, so I think this won't be the case after release. But it worried me two espcially since the Maruaders health bar doesn't seem to go down at all when hit by arrows >.>

And yes knockback looks sweet, also the snareing of the two marauders was niceeee.

Interesting, because I noticed one point where a marauder was taken down to nearly half health by two arrows from a Shadow Warrior. Can't recall the exact point, but was near the beginning of the interview. The sequence faded out before said marauder had the chance to close. Only the gods know the final outcome. ;)

You are right about that Marauders also died very fast sometimes, for example in the end of the vid, when they marauder get's hit by the melee knockback from the SW, he looses almost half his health (althoguh I'm not sure if it was the damage from the knockbakc or he got hit by something different in the same time, it get's all flashy there). I've just not seen it with arrows. I'm pretty sure it isn't like that in the final version, because in all the other vids so far, fights didn't look like that.

I ought to have! I've probably rewatched that video a dozen times today in desperate attempts to glean any little new nugget about our beloved SW's. :D

Damn you quoted too fast ^.^ . But anywy I hope all classes will have more survivability in the end. But I really like d the look and animations of the SW.

Hmmm yeah, personally I think that there was probably Level Differences+Skill differences and little things that need to be tweaked before the release... and all those together made it look unbalanced... but Mythic isn't just sitting up there doing nothing till June ya know? I like how when the SW melees he uses sword in one hand bow in the other so it actually looks like the miniatures.

Edit: though its nice to see in one of the vids someone trying to bounce around by jumping like in WoW only to see how dumb it looks :P

The ones in the Witch Elf vid were indeed NPC's. Those were clearly PvE vids. The Shadow Warrior player characters can be seen in the various clips of the marauder in RvR.

I hadn't even thought of it but... I know you guys are right about the NPC things. No wonder they where so killable and there where so many of them. It was probably Blighted Isle or maybe even Shadowlands (former nagarythe).

The PCs died as fast though.

For the NPCs, that it defenitly the beginning zone of the dark elfs, and I wish they wouldn't have taken SW as the cannon fodder for the first levels.
