It's another exciting Patch Day for WAR, but we hope you can take a little time away from slaughtering your enemies to enjoy another Spotlight for you here at Warhammer Alliance.
Every other Thursday we feature creative Fan projects, whether they be Fiction, Art or now Music. Today, WAR General TrueGamling (http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/member.php?u=66020) is at it again after his smash hit "Destruction in Altdorf." If you've been living under a rock and missed "Destruction in Altdorf,' you can check it out on our last Friday Folly (http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=277290).
This time he brings us a stirring cover of Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car," entitled "Fast Mount." Not only that, but this time we get a video to go along with the song.

I have a lot of respect for Gamling. He's a very talented songwriter and performer. I'm struggling a little bit though in that I'm comparing "Fast Mount" to both his song "Destruction in Altdorf" and Chapman's original "Fast Car."
"Destruction in Altdorf" is a great song. It's both solid folk music with a skillful performance and a compelling narrative completely based on WAR. "Fast Mount" is a skillful performance of "Fast Car," but it lacks the narrative of "Destruction in Altdorf." I find myself too aware of the artifice and the attempt to mimic Chapman's classic, rather than allow the song's narrative to stand on its own.
The song's narrative seems too constrained by the attempt to remain true to Chapman's original. So, I will look forward to when Gamling can pen another original tale of life on Karak Eight Peaks. That said, I still enjoy Gamling's craft. The guitar work is solid and his vocal is pleading and evocative.
Thanks to Gamling for another fantastic Fan contribution to the WAR Community. We appreciate you sharing your talents with us.
Give "Fast Mount" a listen and tell us what you think.
