We've got some absolutely fantastic images for you this week in our Spotlight on Fan Art.

WAR Lord Forjador has posted a beautiful digital painting at his WCPI Blog: Portraits of WAR (http://forjador.wordpress.com/).

He's recently given us an image of a Dwarfen Slayer that taps directly into the iconic Warhammer IP. The look of the images will be immediately recognizable to those of your familiar with Warhammer during the 4th and 5th Editions. Warhammer has always been larger than life, but there was a certain comedic dimension during the earlier years that I think Forjador's Slayer captures perfectly.

He's a frenzied and ancient Dwarfen warrior, but there is something crazed about the entire presentation that doesn't quite play it straight. I enjoy the more serious look of more recent editions of Warhammer and WAR, for example, but there is a vital essence of Warhammer that is captured in these portraits that embrace caricature as a means of expression.

Up close, we see the colors are bright and vibrant and conjure up a miniature swiped directly from a table top. The startling shock of orange hair and the eyes ringed in darkness beneath a stern brow. This slayer means busines.

The detail work on the Slayer's face and shoulder captures the powerful Dwarfen muscles as well as his savage life of combat. His eyes burn with his obsession for an honorable death. His back is strong and powerfully built and marked with the runic tattoos of the Dwarfs. The details on both belt and his runic axe reinforce the powerful iconography of the Dwarfs as defined in both Warhammer and expanded upon in WAR.
