View Full Version : Are they really cutting it at three classes per elf side?

I found the newsletter a bit of a dissappointment. I really would have liked to see the last HE career(which many of us hope and presume will be the White Lion). In other threads we have heard the developers saying that they would, if need arises, ship the game with only three careers for the elves.
The reason I say this, is that we have now had to obvious chances in the Jan and Feb newsletters to get a sneakpeak of the HE MDPS and the background for the DE Black Guard. None of these chances have been used, and I begin to have a sneaking suspicion that the HE MDPS and the BG might be omitted from the game at launch.
More so, wouldn't it be good for the developers to have announced the last HE class so they have the possibility to use it in the next stages of the beta? If they did not, wouldn't a breach of the NDA if they ndeed were in the beta sure to take place?
I hope someone can help me and my concerns. I would like to see some points pro and con this hopefully non happening scenario...

No classes are being excluded from release. That we know for sure.
Also we dont know how far along the classes are. They BG and HE MDPS could be completly done but marketing is choosing not to tell us. they could actually be the most polished classes in the game and we wouldnt know. I dont think they have fear of putting into beta because of NDA breaks. You sign and contract and it doesnt really matter what you release from it. Its a break either way. Anyways everyone knows its white lions anyways.
Id say we dont have anything to worry about now. In the march newsletter if nothing is released on HE MDPS I might start to worry.

I hope you are right Night Soldier. I just became quite scared when I saw the remark about letting careers out on another thread by MBJ i think it was...

but, we Don't know for sure, they have said, they WILL exclude something if they have to. lets be realistic, it shouldn't come to that, but to be fair they haven't stated anywhere that they are definitely going to release with everything.
we know its just marketing being evil, like still keeping the CE in the shadows...jerks.. :P

I cant see them ever leaving out an archetype. Im almost positive they would delay again rather then releasing 3 classes for the elves. It may not be the BG or WL but I cant see them not releasing a finished game.

i Can't see it either, but they have said they would do it, if things got slowed down specifically because of that career, or if they cannot get the mechanics right, but as i said, its probably just the marketing team making a big mistake and still holding back on info on the BG and WL.

They cant cut out an archetype for a racial pairing (especially DIFFERENT archetypes) It would make the RvR unbalanced. That would give the HE no MDPS and the DE no Tank. Cant you see the problem this would create? The DE would have no way to protect their front line.
This might even out a bit in the 4th tier but you should never have to rely on external allies to fill in an archetype gap, thats why all races have access to the same archetypes.
The comment MBJ made was in reference to the Slayer. It wasnt working so they removed and replaced it.
oh and no Dev has EVER said "if need arises, ship the game with only three careers for the elves." this is complete nonsense.

It seems like they would rather delay release than to ship the game when it's not ready.

I would have to agree that it would make no sense for them to release a racial pairing without an archetype, especially not the same archetype. That would seriously gimp both the elves, and that would be extremely unwise as those will probably be 2 of the most played races.

I agree. It's extremely unlikely they would ship the game without some careers. Without tanks or MDPS on a specific side it would cause a huge imbalance in the pvp aspects of the game. Nevermind the PvE aspects where taunts and the ability to take hits are going to be vital. It is possible to leave out the melee DPS, since their niche is somewhat covered by an offensive specced tank. But I seriously doubt that Dark Elves will be able to get through boss fights and such with a Witch Elf tanking (from what I've seen of them, they remind me of what your char looks like in most games when you take all their armor off. They just get to switch out what color of scant bikini they wear).
