So with Warhammer coming out soon, I have been saving up for a good monitor, and just last week my friend says it won't make War look any different because monitors dont do much if the tower cant run it efficient.
I will try to get ram because mine is at a 1.65 GB which im guessing is the all time worst.
But anyways the question is will a new monitor make the game look better? I have now a 15 inch, non flat screen by compaq. It seems small compared to my friends flat screen, 20 inch Dell.

also to ask, would a better graphics hard be a good buy because i ran WoW looking pretty choppy and poor.

Do you know what your current graphics card is? And also, you need a better graphics card to run games on a bigger monitor if you want to play them on the monitor's native resolution.

idk what it is no. But the computer is a very old one and the default video card is in there.

Honestly, if it runs WoW poorly, it probably can't run WAR at all. WoW is special in how well it runs on old hardware, but if your hardware is struggling even with WoW, you really need to spend your money on a completely new computer first.
There are some threads you should look at on this forum, and you can look here for tips on making a budget gaming PC: http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/$500_gaming_pc_upgrade/ or http://imbacore.blogspot.com/2007/12/in-hopes-of-making-more-first-person.html
You can google for more sites about budget gaming PCs.

lol I use to play WoW on 256mb of ram ;) It was fine untill you entered Org. But ya, if your computer is stuggling to play WoW with a 15" screen there is no chance you computer will play WAR with a 20"
But to answer your question yes, it will look better :p It will be an awsome slide show for you im sure.

LOL That I can agree with. No matter what badass monitor you get, if your system cant handle the game the monitor will not make a difference.
I personally recently upgraded and built a new computer (see specs below) and use a 22"monitor when puts the icey on the cake. But if I had a crappy computer and put this monitor on it, all it would do is show how poorly the game performs on a nice picture.

To find your system specs go to
Start> Run
then type in
dxdiag.exe
The first page will show your ram and cpu. Click on the Display tab and you will see your graphics card.

Hey, how is the RAM working out for ya? Did you get the 2x2Gigs kits or 4x1Gigs kits? Also, if its not much trouble, what batch? e.g 8FEx//16FDx

Yeah the Ram works really good and looks awesome. I got the 2x1 Gig sticks. How do I find the batch number, I still have the original boxes they came in if that helps you out.
Its on the sticker which is on the Heat Speaders Usually goes like: BL2KIT25664AA804.16FD5 for example:) I want the last digits which I bolded:)

The last digits were under the first set I typed.
Thoses arent the numbers Im looking for, thanks anyways:)
The ones I asked for are on the other side of the Spreaders:)

I went to newegg to get the model numbers :)
Edit sorry gave you the wrong model number:
BL2KIT12864AL804
Ok, that the right one, now what are the number/letters that follow? (thoses are the bacth numbers):)
The batch number is only goin to be displayed on your RAM DIMM:) Not newegg, sadly:(

16FD3 is the number.
You got some good rams!!!!
Im almost inclined to tell you to Drop the LTD multi in your BIOS to 4 crank the BUS to 250Mhz and set your RAM @ 1000Mhz 4-4-4-12 2T :) (Stock volts for the RAM, CPU will be overclocked so you might need a higher Vcore)

I might do some overclocking this week. I was able to get the CPU to 3.0ghz with just uping the multiplier to 15x. So I might fiddle around with it some more this weekend.
You got yourself a Black Edition, Good MAN! For the best memory perf. just drop the multi a bit and bump the BUS speeds like mentionned above:) (dont forget to lower the LTD multi to 4 from 5)

opps checked the ram again and it was an 8FE5 at the end. sorry for the mix up.
Ugh, single sided... Non-D9Gxx Micron ICs:( They dont overclock very much and do not seem to like running CAS 4 above 900ish...
They should be able to do 1000Mhz 5-4-4-9 2T. Tought:)

Ive got the system running at 200 fsb, 4-4-4-12 2T, 15x multi, everything else is on auto including Vcore. 3.01ghz running around 29c idle 48-49c load. Although the mobo seems to hit 48c under load which triggers Asus probe to alert me cause its over threshold. Should it run that hot or is it normal?
Its fine... Asus probe is pretty much garbage anyways...

You should be taking the volts off auto. This can cause instability and oftern they will put the voltage up to high meaning its runnig hotter then it needs to.
Have you found the FBS limit for your cpu or motherboard. Which ever craps out first lol. Because you can probably get more out of that cpu. usualy its best to keep the multiplyer between 9 and 11 rather then have it up at 15.
Urm Dave, I think your rusty on the AMD overclocking scheme:P AMD rarely go much higher than 275Mhz Bus speed, however to get the most out of the HT link you would have to set the LDT multi to 4x rather than 5, stick the CPU multi to 14 or 13 and clock the Bus to 250Mhz for a total of 1000Mhz HT link. Ram can be then clocked to 1000Mhz:P CPU:DRAM ratio of CPU/7

i expected more around 300. Yeah now i come to think of amd's do use alot higher multiplyers. Meh keep it simple and get an intel and do which ever you want :p
