View Full Version : Who's planning on being a KotBS?

So the title says it all. But just to add a little bit of meat, why are you planning on picking this class over another?
For me:
1. I love the looks,
No matter what anyone says what you look like, it DOES make some impact on you, no matter how small. I love the plumbs, they make the knight look old school which is a nice change from the high-tech WoW armor I'm use to.
2. They're part of the Order,
I love being on the "Losing" side that has less players but more brain. If you've played WoW, the horde always had fewer people but seemed to do better in everything. My guess (so far) is looking to be that most players will go to the dark side. Which brings up,sorry to say, is a blanket judgment, but honestly has a little truth, most immature players will go dark because they look "B.A.".
3. LEADERSHIP
I made the terrible mistake in WoW of picking a healer, because I would always find a terrible tank and it would only get worse and worse. That isn't to say there arn't bad healers, but the tank is in most cases, the leader of the party; and with poor leadership comes poor quality groups. And I also plan to be a leader or some form of officer in any guild/clans that I plan to join, so I'm just sticking with the theme.
So there you go.
By the grace of Myrmidia!
EDIT: I completely forgot to add this!
I have reason to beleive that although people say that the KotBS doesn't meet the bar of other tanks, I want everyone to take into account that BETA is not over yet and they are still working on the classes.
I'm currently not part of BETA (but I hope to be soon!) but I've heard that Empire hasn't been "tested" yet, so that should help bring attension to any problems.

I'm going to give the Black Orc a spin first. I've played Warhammer for about 3 years now and Warhammer 40k for about 6 and I've always played the Orks. However, I agree with the outlook you provided that more people will go over to Chaos just because the think they know evil and are misunderstood at home and if THAT happens then I'm coming over to the Knightly Orders.
I guess we'll see.

I was initially going to go kotbs, but when I heard about Battlefield Command, it kinda threw me off. Mythic's description about it is very vague, and I guess that was rly the only turn off I had. Perhaps I'll make an alt kotbs:D

I heard it was something about controling your sides NPCs. Not sure if it's true but it would be pretty sick to control the Dogs of War. Sounds like a lot of work too, but as the future leader of the forces of Order, someones got to do it.

it would be very cool, but when you think about how many people would then flock to do that...Maybe you have to summon your own units, and control them from there? If not, everyone would be telling them to do different things, anyway it sounds like i need more info to make a decision.

That is false information born of poor wording and rumor. It is just Mythics way of describing the buff auras the career will have.

To be honest, they've always had a bit of a flair that I've found interesting, since I've seen the concept art. There's just something about them I like, and particularly that they're simply Knights. For some reason there's something I find particularly cool about that.
KotBS and WP are definitely testing my like of Asur.

1) Fully agree I wish I was going to play KotBS but I sadly wont be playing one on my main server (due to the fact I am in a destruction guild but its worth the sacrifice)
2) I totally disagree I highly doubt Order will outnumber Destruction if you look at the statistics people would rather the "Good Guys" (mind you they are far from "Good")
Also where as it is more likely that younger players will go to the "Evil side" because they are "BAMF" those same players have a significant statistical advantage in skill over the "Good Guys"... Anyways IMO age =/= maturity anyhow
I could get more deeply in to this, but I would rather not just dont count on being outnumbered (or for arguments sake outnumbering)...
3) I feel you I was always attracted to hybrids and I always paid for it when I raided as a healbot =[ NEVER AGAIN! 8)
KotBS totally rock they dont have much of a fan base... Yet... Which shows that most likely KotBS will not be the most "committed" crowd (assuming that pre-release gamers are more interested in this MMORPG then none-pre-release gamers)
But I have every reason to believe they will be popular... And I love that hat
KotBS Hat > Witch Hunter Hat... There I SAID IT!

I hear what your saying, they arn't all good, but they definitly beat out the forces of darkness on the "good" scale.
I also agree with your age =/= maturity, I'm the definition of it.
I know you say that Order is beating out Darkness in numbers but based on the number of posts from different forum websites it looks as though darkness is winning in numbers. But I know that isn't full proof, but what statistic is? Either way, its still BETA and alot could change in the time before release.

I am using this website for statistics

But also from personal experience the "Good" guys always seem to outnumber, perhaps the fact that their are few sympathetic factions might add to a good balance in numbers which everyone can be satisfied with IMO =]
But yes your completely right things can easily change =]
And I am not going to lie I would rather be on the outnumbered faction, every time

As it is the opposing number of the Chosen, I'll almost certainly take the class for a spin eventually. I'm interested to see how broad the effect of the group buffs it generates are.

3 Things-
+Insane Moustache's - Only real men have Colonel Mustard facial hair.
+Insane Headpieces - Even harder men wear feather's and pull it off ;)
+Insane Demand - Honestly can't see the KotBS being the most popular Empire class, so I'd rather be part of the creme' de la creme' than the riff raff . Also it helps getting into groups and that!!!
The sight of a Knight of the Blazing Sun shall strike a fear into the hearts of our enemies ten times that of another man, for we are the elite of Sigmar!
HH,
Looks awesome, sounds awesome, looks awesome, what else you asking for? WH as main isin't locked yet so I decide there which I start to play.

I talked a good buddy into playing one over a Disciple or Chosen last night. It wasn't the easiest thing to do as he was really not digging the head plumes at first. ;)
We can't ALL hat a cool hat! The Rollie Fingers mustaches make up the cool points though.

I had quite a fun experience when deciding my class.
It started with my friend wanted the game. He loved how Warrior Priests and Blackguards turned out, but eventualy convinced me into rolling a Dark Elf with him. I then went out on a personal quest to figure out the general "feel" of the people inhabiting each racial forum, and I was greatly disheartened by the massive negativity of the Dark Elf forum (They sure live up to their word of emo goths, huh?).
So looking at everything again, I eventualy decided that the Empire had the coolest collection of classes, and was to be a Witch Hunter at first, while also wishing to take the Warrior Priest out for a spin. But as I developed a character of mine in WoW (A Paladin *Gaspness!*), I eventualy decided that I'd want to reroll that character here in Warhammer Online, and the best fitting class was a Knight, as I also liked the general description about a huge, lumbing armoured tank with a huge sword in hand (Who doesn't like two handed swords?). So in the end, it was the sheer awesome might of a Knight that inspired me the most!
Go Knight of the Blazing Sun!

Well..I originally wanted to play an IB for the longest untill my brother and his friends all said they wanted to go destruction. So I bit my lip and looked around and fell in love with the Black Guard. Now they arent interested in playing anymore for no reason at all..*shrug*
I dunno, when/if they announce BG info and I still like it I might stick with it..but if im only slightly impressed im either going to play an IB or a Knight <--- depends how they turn out as well. As these are the only two Order classes im interested in playing. For destruction im only interested in Black Guards and Zealots. We'll see!

- Awesome armor
- Awesome zweihanders
- Awesome concept art
- Awesome career (not meaning the gameplay but a commanding knight)
- Empire career
I'll go as far as saying that KotBS made me choose WAR as my next MMO but the twisting question is making me doubt and worry quite a bit at the moment. I'm already worn out for a lifetime from buffing 'in that other game' with 5-min buffs. God forbid experiencing 5-sec ones.

I'll be rolling a KotBS as my main for sure. I just want to throw that out there BEFORE Mythic releases all the juicy details about them, and a massive seething wave of immature "lolz I get to pwn joo with mah swardz" makes it's way to this forum.
I've been a long time TT WH40k player, and just the idea of the Space Marine is too awesome. So, if I were to pick their equivalent in WAR, the only one that fits the bill (so far) is the KotBS.
In addition, I never EVER play tank classes in MMO's. KotBS will be my first tank main, and I'm excited. For the first time, it looks as if tank's are actually going to be useful in PVP. Even in DAoC tanks eventually got reduced to near uselessness. Paladin's couldn't damage worth beans, and were only used for their auras... Armsmen were only good as a heavy hitter, and only if they used polearms, etc...
It looks as if Mythic is aiming to revolutionize the tanks role in PVP for this game, and I most certainly want to be a part of that.
(This is my first post btw, finally got off my butt and registered. >.<)

I'm -planning- to be a KotBS. Right now, my wife is going to play an Archmage, my Father-in-law a Ironbreaker, and my brother-in-law an Engineer or Shadow Warrior. I'm hoping the Knight will be a good addition when specced for damage/buffs.
If the twisting mechanic turns out to be horrible, or it looks like a Wrath-specced Warrior Priest would be more useful, then that's the way I'll turn.

im not planing im going to be 11110% sure :) but i really cant wait and i hope that not so much info is let out about the class it will just make it even more fun to play1
My main reason
I loved to be out numbered, just the rush of being out numbered- being with 3 guildies and wiping out like 15 confused pugs is amazing, but the feeling of zerging 3 people down with 15 other random people sucks. The destro side seems to be out numbering Order, before someone says "Well people like being the good guys! It happened in WoW!" nope.
It's looks, not good vs evil. WoW's Allie side looked way better then Horde on launch, now that Horde got elfs, Horde got a ton more players. Destro has Dark elfs and Chaos, all very good looking races. We have High elfs and Dwarfs, most people don't like prissy High Elfs or stinky Dwarfs and we have some very dull looking classes. Dersto has very iconic evil things for classes, most people would rather be pretty and evil. Enough of that stuff, we've all heard it a hundred times.
My second reason
I love tanks and I love two handed weapons and feathers. The other tank classes with 2h'd swords just aren't my taste, Chosen look silly to me, not the armor but just on how they move and attack. Just doesn't click, hoping the knights have some better ones. All the other tanks just can't see myself playing, maybe a black ork but thats about it. The Idea of a Tank support that doesn't heal is mighty tasty, I always find myself hating DPS only classes since theres always people who are willing to do it while other classes are rarer and just dps'ing is dull and easy to me.
My third reason
I have not once in any MMO played a human as a main, they all were so boring. In the Warhammer world, Humans are tight as hell! The lore behind the empire is amazing- the evil guys have pretty cheesy motives to be evil. "Becuz we b crazy n' evils! Dats y we r evils lol!" Dark elfs have some good lore though. The city for humans looks so awesome also, I could just walk around that city for like 5 hours and not get bored me thinks!
My Final reason
Feathers- and being able to be in a guild called "Feather Rebels"...Nuff said!

Wait... "Twisting"? As in, what Pally's did in DAoC?! SHOOT! I HATED that! They just turned into Aura bots!
I sincerely hope "twisting" isn't what KotBS is all about...

I am somewhat undecided, I love the passion a WP offers, the powering up of rage seems really really cool. However, WP's seem to be like the Sargeants in any battalion; the standard soldier will fear and look up to him for leadership. I think I would like to play the role of a Marshal or General, my interaction is limited in the front, but leading an army or battalion seems really appealing. Also a sarge is an expendable asset, a high ranking officer is not.
I'm planning on be a Knight Of The Blazing Sun. I love everything about them and I know, if we have more people like us. The EMPIRE will rise again.

I've looked in detail into ALL Classes/Races (Excluding Black Guard obviously) and found that the Knights were the most interesting, as I am still not convinced there will be that many players choosing the KotBS (Hell not that many people will choose Order, Bloody Chaos!) so I would also be unique, though my favourite part along with there fantastic looking armour (It rules and I will hear no objections!) is that they are Leaders. I like leadership and enjoy the thrill of knowing that what I do and what I tell others will determine the outcome of most things I will do (Im a very social and group person).

At first, I was dead set on going Hammerer. But now, after looking closer at the KotBS I'm really having trouble sticking to my little fat man. Their armor is my favorite in the game after Dwarven, they use gigantic swords, and I think that even though there will be only a few, they will be some of the most useful guys/gals around.......or atleast I hope.

They are templars but not holy warriors or something like that, so why the fuss? They are great soldiers that use their strength, sword and brains to save the day...that's why i love them.
I'd actually like to play Black Guard of Morr...
Well KotBS is the right tank class for me thats sure. 1st alt or main can't decide yet ^^ I'm just afraid that the stealth system lets me down :(

Me.. me.. me - I'll be a Knight as they seem so overlooked and I like to be able to offer help whenever possible.
May be as an alt rather than my main though - have to see when we get to play in final release.
My KOTBS though will be my GuildLeader I think for an EU-Order RP & RvR Regiment open to all the Races of that Realm. ;)
Gona be fun.. fun.. fun holding back the dark shadows of destruction.
