View Full Version : Not in the March Newsletter Either

Now, despite the fact that I was amused at the lack of info in the February newsletter, it's actually starting to get to me.
It's disappointing, not having our last career be shown even after all the other races have theirs. I do indeed realize that they may still be fleshing out the career, and don't want to announce things ahead of time, but it's actually pretty stressful (Spending every month wondering, "Maybe it'll be in the newsletter!" and having it not be.) I'm not just straight up complaining here, since I probably wouldn't play a White Lion if that's what our last career is. However, as a High Elf, it is fairly frustrating not to at least have a definite one way or another on our last class, and have some amount of closure.
I mean, they've announced Blackguard back in what... August? And there's still no information about them.
Ah well, hopefully next month. =/

Maybe I can help you out here. In every newsletter, theres a bit on the far right that tells you what to expect in the next newsletter. Everytime a career has been announced in a newsletter, the previous newsletter has said "and a new career annoucement!" or some such thing. Just assume it's not going to be in the newsletter unless you see such an annoucement.

Well yeah, I knew that much already.
I just hadn't checked out about anything until today, the day it happened to be sent. Either way, it's still the same amount of disappointing.
(I didn't actually check out all of the last Newsletter.)

Is it really? I mean probalby not many people will go like "until now I hated the game, but hey they have a WHITE LION now, wow I'm going to buy it". Not that I doubt marketing is the reason for not showing it so far, it's a bit lame in my view.
But at least now that they delayed the game again, at least we can be sure that all classes will be in the game from the start.

No, but it keeps people talking, it keeps you wondering. Which mean more people are thinking about the game longer. THAT's what they want.

There is a point where it starts generating a negative reaction though. I know I'm already starting to take the lack of the final career information negatively, especially since one of the latest videos said that all the careers were in the beta now, and I can also tell that some people I know are also starting to be annoyed with the lack of information.
I seriously doubt anyone's going to want to wait 5 more months just to find out if the final career is something they'll actually play, or those of us who just to find out what we can expect to be playing with.
That 'juicy carrot' is bound to rot at some point.

The whole situation is a mess, Mythis is just losing customers because they hyped up their MMO so god damne early on with pauls nonsense. What paul was concocting last year should have been started about a month ago. They got cocky, and now they have had 2 pushbacks and people are losing interest. Holding out on WL and other class info which shoulda been released BEFORE keep sieging and capitol city , was a mistke.
I think anyone that really wanted to play the game originally will still want to play the game. To be put off by a push back that will hopefully improve the game to the extent that you are no longer going to even play it is absurd.
Everyone wants to play the game, but surely you would rather play a polished game with smooth combat and more features?

They were sorta mentioned "Sildaen responded flatly as he proceeded to sift through the ornate bookcase. "No, everything is not in order, Variel," he answered. "Pride has blinded me." Taking grip of his choice tome and a rune-inlaid staff, he continued. "Alert the Phoenix King's Shining Guard, send word to the Shadow Warriors of the Blighted Isle, and call upon the White Lions of Chrace, then see that my steed is readied.""
That is basically explictly calling out the four highelf classes right there. At least you can rest assured that White lions are in the game even if you have no info about them.

Now the new of WL is more about deception than exitement, in the discussions.

I understand without a doubt that it's marketing.
I just feel like it's going to soon start losing more interest from High Elf players than they're retaining, by dangling it in the air.
It's not like it's in front of our face either.
It's more like a carrot, with a black cloth over it. You can't tell that it's specifically a carrot, but you know it exists, and you know its general shape.
... We've known this for quite some time now, and it's hard to look at the said black veil, and try to seem interested.
They could just freakin' trim off some of the edges once in a while, and give us something if they're going to do this. Like they did with Blackguard. At least give us confirmation, and a single piece of concept art.
Then they'll have people chomping at the bit, and they can dangle class details in front of our faces instead, and it'll retain even more people.

At this point, I think the development team is really stuck on the White Lion.
The Blackguard has been without any info since it's announcement, but at least they know what the core mechanic is going to be: hate.
The White Lion, while perhaps originally intended as a pet class, may be giving them so many design nightmares that the pet may even be up in the air. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if the Lion didn't appear unless certain abilities were used, only to disappear afterwards. It makes no sense, but a melee pet class could just have them so frustrated they don't want to announce it until they've got it's core mechanic set in stone.
Doesn't help one iota with the frustration though. :(

To those that were around for last years gamesday season you will remember that most of the classes were actually revealed at the gamesdays not in newsletters.
We have had ALOT of people begin to show up here since then and show interest but they seem to think that newsletters are the main way to release info. What a surprise you have in store for you.
Take a look at the gamesday schedule on the main site and be watching for your White Lion release at those. Not in a newsletter.
Now for those who are throwing fits because Mythic didnt give them what they want, I liken such to a temper tantrum. Your tantrums and your threats to not "come to the dinner table" will fall on deaf ears. You are seriously not going to play the game because they arent releasing the info YOU want early? Too freakin bad. When dinner is ready it will all be on the table to be seen, until then its COOKING and thats good enough.

I'd say the biggest differences between then and now (and probably one of the reasons behind a lot of the complaining now) is that back then only about half the careers had been released (if that), and we'd been getting a steady stream of a new career page every newsletter. Now it's a case of only two careers are left, of which we haven't had -anything- about them for the past three months (longer for the Blackguard) and probably won't get anything next month.
We'll see what happens though, but they can't wait much longer as I keep seeing more and more people becoming very unhappy about the lack of final releases.

Exaggeration of the month award right there.
Its not a temper tantrum to suggest that to repeatedly say a class announcement is "Coming Soon" and it keeps getting delayed and delayed over and over for months is kinda unprofessional, and misleading. It is unprofessional, and poor marketing, as people feel like they are being mislead or being frustrated for marketing reasons. I don't think people are here en masse threatening to boycott the game because they won't tell us the last class in a professional and timely manner, but the valid point has been raised that this is having a negative effect on fans and their perception of the game's progress. Why the delay? Either for marketing reasons, which is actually now working against them, or due to design reasons, which does not instill confidence in fans that they still have got a basic workable class designed this close to realease. Neither reason is raising my opinion of their progress (and no, not for the overall game, but in this matter only).
So yeah, to state that one is disappointed that the last career class announcement is still "coming soon" is very fair, and felt by many. Combine this with yet another delay of several months and people's patience is getting thin.

Honest question, because I don't follow the WL much, have they really ever said that the class announcement is "comming soon"? Anyway, I feel with you guys, if the WL would be the class I'm waiting for, I'd be quite pissed.

Dude, I feel you but dont call my post an exaggeration of the month and then make a post like this.
Their marketing is "working against them"? Where the hell do you figure this out? As if any of you white lion fans Arent going to play the game. Think they really care that you guys are getting butt hurt over not seeing the class yet?
I really do understand wanting to see your class, but you guys are seriously giving HE a bad name here. Its like you are saying you are gonna go on strike or something if they dont release the info. As if they OWE it to you. No...they dont. They could very well still be tuning it up and dont want to release it yet. Guess what, they dont have to. I mean, are you seriously not going to play the game because they havnt released the white lion info yet? If not, then it hasnt affected their game negatively one bit.
Also you are going to say they are unprofessional about this? They dont owe us any info on it. They choose to share what they share and when they choose not to, well thats their choice too.
Also, its not all that close to release as it got pushed back again if you didnt know. So they have plenty of time to make it right. A melee dps class With a pet is most likely a tough class to balance and tune just right. Besides they NEVER promised a white lion release to be "coming soon". The most we ever really saw was a banner with it on it. Thats it. So please, enough of the emotional overtone mixed with non facts.

For the "Coming Soon" part, click on the Armies of Warhammer link, then click high elves (though it may just be a ? now instead of the Coming Soon it has always been.
Yeah, Chosenone, it may not be a white lion, but it has also been the 4th class of the High Elves that has been Coming Soon for the longest time now. By saying white lion, we are basing it some pretty solid premises. Would it satisfy your pedantic approach if we all said "we are disappointed the 4th class for High Elves has yet to be announced." ?

Are you trying to compete against yourself for exaggeration of the month award? First and second place?
As for marketing working against them, if the decision to delay the release of the white lions is purely for marketing reasons, then fans start becoming disillusioned and their opinion of the process and the company goes down, then clearly the marketing is not working. FYI marketing is meant to make people like and want the product more, not less. Hence, if the reason is purely marketing, then it is working against them if the reaction of fans is anything to go by. Simple really.
As for the exaggeration part, people say they are disappointed that the White Lion is not yet released, and you come in accusing people of throwing fits, chucking temper tantrums, claim that to say we are disappointed means that we are giving HE's a bad name, claim that we believe we are owed stuff by the company, claim that we are saying we are gonna go on strike and never buy the game. You just exaggerate and make stuff up and go on a rant for an excuse to have a go at people, its not cool and no one is impressed. From many people throughout the forums, we ask you to please stop acting the tough kid, and twisting people's words to create drama already.
Thats it. So please, enough of the emotional overtone mixed with non facts.

Um, thats what people were doing, saying they were disappointed, until you came in claiming that people were throwing tantrums, fits, claiming boycotts and strikes, etc etc. Now you are changing your story? Remember, I first posted AFTER you made these mass exaggerations of people's behaviour.
But you went on saying how their marketing is unprofessional and a whole clutter of insults on Mythic over them not showing you a class yet.
A whole clutter? I did suggest that to constantly state that something was coming soon, but to keep saying this for months and months and months is a bit misleading, and therefore appears unprofessional. Hardly an exaggeration. Its actually quite factual and reasonable to suggest this. Yes you could argue the definition of "coming soon" but lets keep it to a normal persons understanding of the phrase. And thats in relation to this issue only, not their marketing as a whole. (Based on the suggestion that the only reason for saying "coming soon" but not releasing the info is only for marketing purposes. Personally I believe it is for reasons beyond purely marketing.)
After all that you still try and paint my posts as exaggerations? When you can get ahold of your dilusional tendencies then perhaps we can have a conversation. Until then I will just leave you be so you can act spoiled.
There we go again, asking you to stop exaggerating is now me acting spoiled... Excuse me whilst I boycott the game, bomb their offices, torture their goldfish and whatever. Oh look, exaggeration is fun, now I know why you do it!

The thread has just gotten worse with everyone jumping in.
I'll leave this open, so long as everyone agrees to stop the bickering, and get back to talking about the White Lion. That is what the thread is about.
GOA basically spilled the beans on the WL with that poster from awhile back. So it's rather close to confirmed that they are in fact in.
To those that were around for last years gamesday season you will remember that most of the classes were actually revealed at the gamesdays not in newsletters.
I was around before that, all of the dwarf greenskin classes came out in the early newsletters. Then they slowed down the class info. Even with the slowdown all the empire and chaos classes were known by November or December 2006. Paul mouthed one or two in videos from their Christmas party even if they didn't have pages on Warhammeronline.com yet. Then the game was delayed so they held up the elf classes. Then they finally announced four of them at the conferences in Europe in August 07. The other three known elf classes were out by November 07 I think. Then, the last unknown class in the entire game has been held since then.
I'm not upset over, just dissapointed because when I started following this game I wanted to play the High Elf MDPS because I've always played tanks, casters, or healers (mostly healers) in every other MMO I've played and I got into the WH lore and though HEs were great. So for some of us its been an extremely long wait, I just hope its worth it.:D

Really, if that is what stresses you out, you will not survive in the world....
In regards to them not re-leasing it, hmm, I don't see it as a major issue at all. We know what role it will fulfil and therefore the playstyle will undoubtebly be very similar whatever the name of the class would be.
In all honesty, I would prefer other non-class related information.

Interesting how you prefer non-class related information when the class you seem to have chosen is already announced. Sir, I ask you this question. Can you sit there and honestly type(say) that if you were waiting for the Archmage(which seemed to have been accidentally leaked) and they were doing this, you wouldn't bat an eyelash after months of waiting and then seeing them talking about all this other stuff instead of your chosen character class?
If you say yes to this question you are one of three things: a liar, not a human being, or you weren't sure about what class you wanted to play and you just picked Archmage for grins.
_______________________________________
I probably won't even play a White Lion and I'm irritated by the lack of information when we've had every other class at least announced.
As for why they haven't announced, here are a few possible reasons:
1) White Lions are giving them trouble in the programing/balancing/animating aspects, so much so that they are not even sure they will be in.
2) It's not White Lions and now that someone screwed up their trying to make sure that whatever they do have is better than the White Lions.
3) There is a remote possibility that Mythic is pissed someone leaked(accidentally or not) White Lions and now there punishing everybody for it. (this one is 99.9% joking)
To all of you who jump all over people who are complaining about the lack of info, please keep in mind that most of your classes have videos of gameplay footage or at least information about the class. The MDPS class for the High Elves hasn't even been announced. They have every right to complain. It shows they care about the game and their race and/or class.
Just to stave off any allegations of hypocrisy. You have every right to attack them for it, being that this is a forum and they put their opinion up for other people to read. You can exercise your right all you want. Just keep in mind that it makes you look like an (talking specifically to people who were attacking the OP or others who share his opinion and not those who actually offered SOMETHING to the conversation even if its in disagreement with the OP(Arcantir, your not one of the bad ones, your last line just kind of pushed me off the ledge and down to the point where I had an intense need to rant)). another reason:
they´re blancing the other classes in Beta right now.
If they announce and release the class in Beta everyone will jump to it and abandon his former class.
If they announce it and NOT release it in Beta, the forum will swell with "Why WL not in Beta? Class Broken? Mechanic Not working? Apocalypse? Floods? are we all going to die?"
Guess that would be the worst mood the community could be set in so they will bring him in when the balancing of the other classes has progressed far enough.

I didn't realize this at first, but here's a way that this can work:
I have nothing else to stress about, so the minor things that bother me are all the stressing I'm really doing at this point in time.
And Strages has a point.

Or, its gonna be released as a male only class and they dont want to deal with the aftermath of that choice just yet.
I have to say I totally understand considering the rapid decline in quality of every single thread we see here on WHA about the other classes that are single sex only.
