What are the things you can't wait to do with your engineer?
Personally I'm hoping to:
- throw grenades off a keep wall into a mass of orcs.
- watch 30 destruction players knock down a keep door and walk onto a minefield built by 10 dwarf engineers.
damn, i think i'm addicted to this game before it's even come out yet.

They can put mines down? Damn...

Well see playing the class "Engineer" is in itself what I'm looking most forward to. In WoW Engineering was nerfed to oblivion. Not only that but it was never a real class.
With the hunter you would constantly run out of money trying to be an Engineer and it sucked. It was just poorly done. At least now we get a class worthy of the name "Engineer."
I look forward to smelling the gunpowder of my recently fired rifle. I can't wait to back up my teammates against those pesky green skins and show em that you shouldn't mess with a crazy dynamite throwing dwarf.
Don't forget engineer turrets.

From what I've seen with Engineers, I would think turrets would be really fun. In fact, I'm actually thinking about converting now. So...does anyone have any more info they can say about this mind laying ability?

Well I'm ready to drop down a keg of refined Dwarfen (Dwarven?) to improve me aim! Then I shall lay down m' turrets and blow those damn orcs to bits!
Apparently you can lay down one a turret OR a mine at a time. My guess is that mines will slow or do big explosive damage and turrets will be like a dot, maybe an AoE dot.

Yeah I was only going off those abilities released ages ago, I suppose they could scrap mines before release.
Fingers crossed they don't though.

What can't I wait to do with my engineer? Launch him out of his own cannon, and light his beard on fire with his own gunpowder, then stick a grenade in his mouth.
"Oi! Dem stunties got some foncy wayz ta blow 'emselvefs up. 'Ahahaah!
But being serious now, I'm just hoping his turrets aren't the hell spawn that they are from Team Fortress 2's engineer.

They aren't, if they were, there would be no contest. I'm pretty sure its just shoot... shoot... shoot... shoot.... not a rapid fire kind of thing. I might be wrong though. :o

yea WoW's engenering is weak, the only thing good is that new mount lol and a +crit scope, the rockets and stuff dont even do that much dmg, i hate how you have to pour in thousands of gold into a profession

Actually to be quite honest, among the obvious "kick in RvR" and "fight some ridiculously awesome boss", I am actually secretly psyched up to get some bad looking weapons and trophies, especially trophies, YES!

I look forward most to single-targeting the crap out of some Destruction players with my Engineer buddies.
And everything the OP said (holy crap Engys are gonna rock in Keep defense).

I'm looking forward to seeing the Gunline. Similar to the TT, see a regiment of Dwarf Engineers form up on a line and deliver hell to the enemy.

It's funny, cause an orc wouldn't know how to use a cannon, wouldn't know what the heck gun powder was (and would most likley nuke himself and the dwarf if he had a slight idea), and if anything an orc would eat a grenade sooner then figureing out how it worked.
All in all, if an orc finds an engineer and his tools, the greenskin should strait up just behead the dwarf. Cause if the dummy tries to tinker with any dwarf equipment, the engineer would be taking yet another orc down with him.

If they work like WoW traps do, they could have some real potential. I know once they buffed traps and let you use them in battle, OMG hunters went from suck to awesome. Shoot shoot, freeze trap, shoot shoot, fire trap, slice slice, dead.

You sir, don't know squat about orcs. I will shave your beard for that.
They know what guns are, since they're always shot with it, they just don't know the mechanics. But they wouldn't eat a grenade, they'd eat the dwarf.
But then again, I do remember orcs using cannons on a looted human ship.
And seeing as how Ogres are probably stupider then orcs, yet they use cannons(as rifles), I'm sure orcs really wouldn't have that much trouble using them to a certain extent.

I was jokeing about the majority of what I said (cept the gunpowder part, if an orc starts to play with that, BIG BOOM.)
... but seriously, orcs aren't smart .

I "really" want to see this in game, just think about it.
Group of Orc's finally bash down the door's to a fort just to see a group of Engineers and their turrets lined up and looking at them, next thing they hear is alot of gun-fire and bodies hitting the group. Of course the Ironbreakers and Hammerers would be there to stop said Orc's getting to them :D

From some of the RVR videos we've seen it looks like an engineer can place a turret during battle, and if a turret does count as a bomb/mine, maybe we can place landmines during the battle too. I hope so :D
Can't wait for keep defence with a bunch of engineers. There must be some awesome combos available: 5 put down turrets, a few put down snare traps, the rest lay massive landmines. Then when the door breaks down...boom.
can't wait

Oh man, imagine a mine turrent combo! I wonder what the limit is gonna be??? You know, like in WoW you could only put down 1 trap.

engineers in wow could lay mines. they did like 30 dmg each. i mean, this isnt perfect dark or golden eye, you cant expect to just lay stuff down and destroy armies of soldiers. laying mines is pretty much the same as a hunter in wow laying traps. its nothing new or innovative, just fun.

For any future postings in this thread, I think the time is at end of comparing the WAR Engineer class to the WoW Engineer profession. My point being, the WoW Engineer profession did not define the class you were playing and therefore the items generated from it were not powerful enough to replace your normal abilities. It does have entertaining features and gimmick/useful items like a Turret, Frost Grenades and a trinket to polymorph a target. However, all the items either have a chance to fail, a chance to backfire, are replaceable "non-gimmick" items or simply have a minimal impact on your environment or nearby players/NPCs.
In short, WAR Engineer class <> WoW Engineer profession. They're not comparable on any level.
That being said, I'm excited and anxious to play a class that incorporates such devices into the actual play-style of the class itself.

I tried an engineer when EA was in Denmark. Just the range of the start-rifle was amazing! I think it was 45' and I'm pretty shure you can get one with even longer range:cool:!

does anyone know if the mines will be visible to the opposing faction?
and if you can jump over a mine without triggering it?
btw i wasnt comparing war engineers to wow, just saying the idea of laying mines isnt a brand new idea.

I love turrets. I love mines. I love the guns. This class is awesome.
With mines, turrets, guns I get the feeling that Samus was an engineer.
hmm what to name my pet turret.. I think I'll call him george.

I'm actually really looking forward to seeing a siege-defense where a ton a Engineers are on the Keep walls just blasting away at Greenkins. Imagine 3 groups each composed of 4 Engineers and 2 Runepriests, providing support. 2 of the groups will be on opposite towers, while the 3rd group is lined up along the wall above the gate. The Engineers will just focus fire, taking out one after another, while the Runepriests are well behind the walls just healing if any Greenskins are able to actually hurt anyone. I feel bad for the Hammerers and Ironbreakers who will be waiting in vain for the gate to come down.

you wont feel bad once the green skins get inside, cause no fortress is impregnable and a good covered ram will stop your bullets dead. once that keep door opens up, you will be be thankfull for that ironbreaker keeping the choppa off your back.
