Any one know a cheap gaming pc around $500? I have to go buy one after receiving this from Mark

Quoted from private message response of Mark Jacobs:

Gilead,

I'm very sorry to say that we will not be on a Mac for WAR or any other Mythic MMO. While I wish the answer could be different (I'm a long-time Apple owner, I date myself by the Apple II (not even a IIe) I have in the garage), the difficulty of porting our game to the Mac wouldn't justify, based on the number of game sales in the industry, for this large of a project.

I truly wish it could be otherwise but the cost involved with both the porting of the game to the Mac and the continued updates that the game would need make it too expensive for a company like Mythic to do at the present time.

FYI, over the years we have spoken to Apple a number of time (I've had a couple of friends who worked there) and getting them to really do anything to help developers like Mythic out was nigh on impossible. We usually got the answer of "We'll be glad to help you, we believe in games but if it is going to cost us any money or time, we can't help you out!"

Sorry,

Mark

Honestly,

If your buying a gaming PC for Warhammer, your better off NOT buying one now. Anything you can buy for 500 dollars today will be less useful than if you spent 500 when Warhammer actually came out. Now if your just tired of not being able to play PC games, then go right ahead. But be prepared to upgrade in 2 years. Otherwise, I hate to say it, but Dell really isn't that bad if you can snag one of their super cheap coupon codes. Building your own is always a good way to go, but I put a premium on my own time, and went with Dell this most recently.

Yeah, echoing Garthilk here. You are best waiting as long as possible if the only reason you are getting a pc is for WAR.

While I have the same opinion as Garhilk and Gamut, I have one thing to say:

S3 Chrome s27 (http://www.s3graphics.com/en/products/chrome_s27/)

S3 is a grahpics card company, like ATI and nVidia.
The Chrome s27 is a graphics card they are going to release very soon.

The good thing about the Chrome s27 is that it will be cheap (around $100 US). And it will be able to compete with the nvidia 6600gt and the ATI x700 pro.

Anyways, keep an eye on S3. They've been making good 'business' graphics cards for a while now and they want to get back into the gaming market. They are going to do this by producing good quality cards for people with low budgets. But by the time WAR comes out S3 will probably have a new car out, so I wouldnt rush off to buy a Chrome s27 unless you have to.

(Also, I've heard rumors that you might be able to put more than two s27's in one computer. However, I've only found a few motherboards with more than two PCI-Express slots)

You can usually get very good deals on computer parts at certain websites:
www.zipzoomfly.com
www.newegg.com
www.tigerdirect.com
but you have to know what you are looking for.
