Black Orc or Chosen?

I have my mind set on playing a tank for a main in WAR, In WoW I played everythign endgame except for a tank so I came to my decision to play something different.

My only problem is I cant decide which one sounds better or looks better.
I didnt really like the concept of ret pallys in WoW that auto attacked and just casted spells and thats what the Chosen looks like its going to be like.

But then the blackorc doesnt look like hes that complex with just only 2 builders max then a finisher.

Can anyone shed some light on these two classes and what their differences and similarities are etc etc?

Chosen aren't going to be ALL auras and auto attacks. A non-NDA breaking video showed us they have an ability "Ravage", which requires a two-handed weapon. Probably deals more damage, and has a build up time. Even if it's not kept in the game, you can tell they're at least thinking of the Chosen's melee side.

first of all Black Orcs are the most offensive tank on destruction then BG then Chosen. Also how are Chosen cliche??

Anyways i would roll a Black Orc over a Chosen. (mainly because my main will be a marauder and i want an orc toon)

Chosen: Big brutes with intelligence(!), wearing armor fused to their skin, who like to thoughtfully smash things, as a more unique race, wields spells (from what I have read), auras and physical abilties

And though twisting is the main mechanic of the Chosen, it is needless to say that they will have some physical abilties, not just spells. :)

Oh, and perhaps a reason there are so many people saying Black Orc is because of the fact that you posted in their own territory. I believe there would be much more people saying Chosen if you posted in their forums. :rolleyes:

do we know yet if the kings will have physical attacks, magical attacks, or a mix of both? i dont want to roll a tank, and a year from now find out i cant tank the final content because he hits too hard magically for a black orc.

I would imagine he has both. But the tanks will still be the guys tanking him, just because he does magic damage doesn't mean anyone will be asking a caster to tank him ;P

im fairly certain the dark elf and high elf's tanks are supposed to be good at magical mitigation while the empire and the chaos tanks are supposed to be medicore at both magic and physical mitigation while dwarf and greenskin tanks are supposed to be focused on physical mitigation.


not saying that a greenskin wouldnt be able to tank a boss that deal magical damage, but for the final boss that is the hardest thing in the game, i'd imagine you'd want as much as an advantage as possible for the raid and would be fairly picky over your main tank.

Actually a Chosen uses twisting which might require some skill. A chosen has a lotta buffs/debuffs that only last for a few seconds (15-20 or something). Twisting is an immense form of stance dancing, the best thing to do for a Chosen is to try to cast as many buffs/debuffs as u can. That's basically it's mechanic so doesn't seem like a ret pally at all.

Now for the Black Orc, they use the things called Builders. Think of it as a rogue's points. They use certain attacks that give u builders on that enemy, when the enemy has enough builders on him you can use finishers which are great attacks. For example: Swing, BUILDER: A weak melee attack (this adds 1 builder). Right in Da Jibblies, FINISHER - REQUIRES 2 BUILDERS: A melee attack that has a greatly increased chance to critically hit.

Now as u said you don't have to get a lotta builders to use a finisher. But seeing as a lotta people will start banging on your black orc, it's best to use target switching. Cast 2 builders, buff/debuff finisher. Next, cast 2 builders, buff/debuff finisher. It's not your job to bring them down, it's your job to protect your ally and make the enemy weak for the rest of Destruction to finish them off.

I didn't make these attacks up btw. So hope that clears it out for ya.

they'll probably have limited defense against magical attacks, but in a clip where they show off the swordmaster they state how they want different tanks to be more desirable for different circumstances and different bosses and that swordmasters will have a strong magical defense while ironbreakers will have a strong physical defense. i definitly havent seen everything there is about war, but others have apparently also read that black orcs are supposed to have strong physical defense like ironbreakers. so im worried that if i roll a black orc, he could be the worst of the 3 destruction tanks for the king fight.

While they've said they want certain classes to have their particular niche, like the Elven tanks as magic tanks, and IB and Blorc's as physical tanks, they've also said that each tank will be more than capable of tanking in any situation, just perhaps not always as easily as another might.

meh, I wouldnt really worry about that, Im sure Mythic will make the other 2 kings per each side different than each other, so you probably wont have to worry about all of them using the same type of attacks.

The Black Orc is more of the classic fighter. You can have a shield and a sword, and just about any two handed weapon you want. Your job is to be attacked, and whats more fun than watching a few enemies attack you with everything they have without your health bar moving. You protect your allies, and destroy your enemies.

People have said, that the black orc doesn't really deal damage. I have to disagree, the Black Orc can beat just about anyone 1v1 granted he knows what he is doing. It takes an extremely skilled player to know how to handle one.

You can stop enemies in their tracks while building up your team with different buffs. I mean hell you can throw your ally behind you to protect them from the fire. In the end I would say, if your looking for a good tanking experience choose a Black Orc.
