Anyone know if you can simply write random notes of your own in your ToK?
Sorry if I’m missing some past thread.

I think it's a must. ToK seems to be rich enough in detail but you never know.

I havent heard or seen any info on this but it would be great to have an in game note system. I really enjoyed it in EVE.

What I would like is map markers that the user can place and write a note, then I could keep notes of where the cool things I found are.

I remember one of the developers (IIRC it was either Jeff or Paul) being asked this a very long time ago at one of the conventions/gamesdays (it was part of a developer interview video, so it's probably still around somewhere). The answer was that they hadn't thought of it, but they liked the idea and may 'steal' it.

*a fairly lengthy kill on sight list*
*a hopefully small blacklist including notes on various guilds*
*random thoughts on class mechanics*
*skulls for the skull throne*
i really wished previous mmos gave you a notepad to access. so easy to implement, and it is so user friendly.

yeah, my KoS list would consist of three categories:
"All me Enemies"
"Everyone else"
"Me"
in that order.

The only mmo that I ever played, that had a notepad (it was a rather good one too) was eve online. I have a lot stuff written down in it.

WoW had several addons dedicated to note taking, .txt style as well as on your main map and also KoS lists.
I've become so accustomed to it, that I'd be loney without it. Here's hoping.
So, /signed for this one.

I approve this idea. I just hope my system would handle the multitude of "post its" I'll make. I am personally a non scribbler; I prefer making the digital over the ink notations.

Tack on Vent info - I have access to a dozen servers in my present game. It's a handy thing to be able to share access info without having to Alt Tab out or fumble around my desk looking for notebook I jotted the info in.

At 17:10 Carrie answers a question about adding notes. It wasn't neccessarily a "yes" but the way she worded it gave me the impression that note taking will be in. It is just a matter of what sections of the Tome of Knowledge have room for note taking based in part on player feedback during beta.
Should be cool.

This is one of those must have features. The ability to copy and paste from your notepad into the chat and vice versa would also be beneficial.

I think note taking is an absolute must in the Tome of Knowledge. It would be great if they had riddles and clues to be found in the world that lead to some hidden easter eggs, so when you run into an npc that says something that seems suspicious you could just open you ToK and jot it down.

Now that is a great idea!

Agreed, Notes in the ToK would be wonderful.. and if they had it organised something like or including :-
1) Friends List - Notes available for each person you meet/list etc
2) Affiliates - Guilds with Notes could be combined with friends perhaps?
3) Kill List - Opposite of friends - Notes on why you listed them, tactics they used etc.
4) BlackList - Notes on members of your own Realm, any Guilds etc you add here.
5) Tactics/Strategies - General Notes on ideas for ingame tactics, special plans etc.
6) Map Locations - Being able to add markers to your world maps and link it to Notes?
7) Personal History - General notes, histories, events etc for your hero (ToK Calender?)
8) Photo Album - Being able to have a few screenshots displayed with notes ;)
9) Miscellaneous - Anything else like Class mechanics, Riddles, Clues or whatnot.
Hmmm.. we can dream ;)

I find it easier to keep my notes in a real notepad made out of real paper. Yes, it's true.

This.
I concurr with all of these ideas, completely.
