I'm not going to mention which French video I saw this in, in case I get in trouble for seeing it, even though it was on Youtube. Let me just say that there were fiery towers, burning keyhole symbols on every door and a lot of Bright Wizards standing around. And it wasn't Hogwarts. ;)

If you know which video I'm talking about, you may have noticed that as well as Bright Wizards, there were a few of these miniature red-hot winged NPC fairy familiars hovering around. They were called Aqshy Spites ("Spites", not "Sprites") - mischievous, capricious and unpredictable fire-spirits born out of the Wind of Aqshy itself (the source of energy from which Bright Wizards create fire magic.)

Some examples of other types of Spite, those nature-spirits found in Athel Loren, can be found here (http://oz.games-workshop.com/games/warhammer/woodelves/painting/spites/default.htm). In tabletop Warhammer, characters in a Wood Elves army can attach a Spite (or multiple Spites), to him or herself in order to gain a wide variety of unusual benefits based on the type of Spite which accompanies him or her. (e.g. Cluster of Radiants, Pageant of Shrikes etc.)

My question is: Do you think there's a chance that higher-level Bright Wizards might be able to use an Aqshy Spite as a familiar or a trophy or something? I don't expect an Aqshy Spite to have the full functions of, say, a pet but I could definitely see them accompanying Bright Wizards in order to confer upon them a little extra power to their Fire Magic... or maybe even eating up a little of their excess Aqshy power in order to save them from Combustion?

What do people think? I think this would be an interesting extra piece of loot for high-tier Bright Wizards. Especially if they eventually manage to gather, say, three or four Aqshy Spites to fly around them!

Finally, this could also provide another suitable mirror with the Dark Elf Sorceress, as powerful Sorceresses tend to be accompanied into battle by Dark Spites, which are attracted to Dark Magic, feeding off it, and basically look like evil versions of Aqshy Spites. (Shown here (http://uk.games-workshop.com/download/popup.htm?/darkelves/artwork/images/big-1.jpg), within the bright blast of magic surging out from the Sorceress, even though it's not that clear, and here (http://uk.games-workshop.com/download/popup.htm?/darkelves/artwork/images/big-13.jpg), following Morathi into battle in the clouds of darkness which follow her.)

After discussing the Aqshy Spite for a while, I'll continue the discussion over in the Sorceress thread considering the possibility of Dark Spite NPC's, and Dark Spite familiars for the Sorceress.

that could be pretty cool having those as a higher tier bright wizard or sorceress. as some sort of aoe buff for your group, but making them do nothing else but that buff.

and the video does say Aqshy Sprite >.>

and the video does say Aqshy Sprite >.> Really? You sure? Could've sworn it said Spite. Warhammer tends to use the word Spite instead of Sprite, but that's cool! The permanent typo was beginning to bother me anyway hehe

EDIT: Nope, turns out your right. It is Aqshy Sprite.

Well, that makes me think that they're mirroring Bright Wizards and Sorceresses even more because according to the Dark Elves Army Book, the little fairy-creatures that follow their casters are "Dark Sprites", so Mythic may have created these Aqshy Sprites to mirror them.

I'd love to have one as a familiar. I can't really see the point in just having them as NPC's to talk to.

I would imagine that they will be called spites in the actual game. I think the 'r' is just a typo.

I would imagine that they will be called spites in the actual game. I think the 'r' is just a typo. ...but then, in Naggaroth the Dark variety are called 'Sprites' with the "r" included...

Could be some sort of minipet or familiar system they might one day implement. Could be interesting.

I believe in the ToK video there was a High Elf starting zone and I noticed she was killing little fairy things, and I looked closer and I realized they where called dark sprites. And I hope this isn't considered a NDA breach because this was a vid I saw on ten ton hammer about the ToK.
