I'm obsessive compulsive about things like the Tome of Knowledge and I know that at least on my main character I'm going to try to unlock EVERY SINGLE unlock I can. I certainly hope that there are no unlocks that are in "chicken" areas where at level 40 I won't be able to let's say go back to Tier 1 areas to do tome unlocks and unable to because of fear of being turned into a chaos chicken. Hopefully all the RvR related unlocks are not Tier dependant and force you to complete them at the appropriate Tier levels.

Any thoughts, ideas, or info about this that people know of?

The way that the ToK has been explained I would suggest that as you level and do certain things more ToK becomes unlocked allowing you to go and achieve things (with the relative difficultly of your level). So while it would be completely unreasonable and illogical to allow a tier 1 player to group up with his tier 4 buddies and do tier 4 unlocks I could not see a fundamental problem of allowing tier 4 players who want to complete earlier ToK items to do so.

They will definatly be able to unlock Tier 1 PvE area unlocks. Unfortunatly if its limited to the Tier 1 RvR areas, then yeah you cant unlock every single one unless you did them all while you were in Tier 1.

Seeing as they said you will never be able to complete it if you wanted to (during one of their interviews cant remember)...and knowing they will have every bit of tidbit under the sun like how long you can walk into walls, im assuming they will have limited ones to each Tier...ESPECIALLY as there are Tier related quests for RvR, if you didnt do RvR you automatically missed the quest tome unlocks/

Based on what they've said, there will probably be ToK unlocks for the number of times you turn into a chicken, get killed as a chicken, and kill other players as a chicken, so you're going to want to go to "chicken" areas anyway.

I have the same problem, but I think you're just going to have to go with the flow on it and relax. I'll probably spend time unlocking extras in my spare time, just goofing around or helping lowbies in PvE areas with quests or PQs.

I'm right there with you guys. I see this as a BRILLIANT metagame and I KNOW I will get just as much enjoyment from this aspect of WAR as I do from standard Quests, RvR, Exploring. I have been following WAR for about 2 years now, and there is really nothing that makes me go, "aww, that sucks". I can't wait.

Icing on the cake > Being able to SHOW your top 10 most badass accomplishments via the inspect page on your tome. So, once your satisfy that OCD urge, you can prove it and show it off to anyone who would look. Genius. <3

My problem is that players that start the game early will be lose out on some unlocks.

I doubt they'll have any unlocks that require you to be in a certain teir, and even then, the only skills the tome has are tactics.

I've seen other MMOs try to make content that could be outlevelled to the point that you could no longer complete it... the community backlash over it though has always forced them to make it open to all levels.

I'm also very concerned about the extent to which the chicken mechanic may impede ToK completion but I'm also confident that Mythic will get it right either now or later. They'll realise how many people actually want to try and complete the tome despite the Devs saying it will be impossible...

Chicken is only for RvR areas, I don't think there will be many not-universal unlocks.

Eventually that might be the case, but I'd expect something more like 10,000 to follow 100 and 1000 markers.

Nothing is impossible, in EvE I have a buddy whos main objective is to gather a collection of the ingame items, he is infact collecting 1 unit of each and every item that exists, his collection is at this time at 7000 different items and you must remember here that while the tome is designed to be unlocked a collection of items is not.

12000 unlocks I can see plenty of people having a complete tome in under a year.

I'm sure that some people will try to get every unlock they can. Then they'll find out that there is one unlock for reaching level 10 without dying, and another unlock for dying 100 times before you reach level 10. :-P

Ill put it this way....i'm obsessed with numbers. I love nunbers and statistics and...yes stuff. numbers number numbers. a TON of games i play i spend more time going over and looking at numbers then playing the game, i love #s.

I really think for those of us with chronic OCD WAR may just send us over the top. However with that in mind mythic has said that they are making WAR so it can be played by casual as well as serious gamers. So i don't believe they would add the ability to have tactics other people didn't ( to keep it fairly scaled between serious and casual?)

What was told in the ToK Presentations (http://video.google.nl/videosearch?q=warhammer+ToK&hl=nl&sitesearch=#) they want the ToK give you enough unlocks for years to come.

Well, there are two sets of trophies. The first set is all the normal unlocks in the game, the second set is accomplishing everything in the first set, only as a chicken. So you'll want that chicken form.

from all the interviews ive read or heard of the ToK about 2/3 the unlocks are reasionable to do while the last 1/3 are pritty hardcore. but no tome unlocks will be mutuially exclusive IE they have some for # of deaths so they dont have any for staying alive for many levels ect.

in an interview with one of the devs she said that you will be able to go back and unlock all ToK locks. the Devs do not want people to NOT be able to play content they worked on. She also said that there will be Naked unlocks (yes you heard me Naked, where you can only get the unlock if you do a certain action naked) Streaking anyone?

and some unlocks will be so ridiculous that only the OCD people will go for them, like kill 1000000000000000 Squigs, and she stated that you might get made fun of for finishing this one. something along the lines of "really, you wasted that much time killing squigs? good Job, now go do something useful."

There are unlocks that *require* you to be a chicken though... like "The Might of Poultry" - Kill 5000 players. As a bloody chicken.

Entity's list of escrow finds got me started in the same game ages ago. I made a couple 1bil+ ISK escrow steals myself, mainly inspired by him. (I really miss the old escrow system sometimes!)

I loved exploration in WoW, but the only things to explore were forbidden (back then at least)--southern Silithis, Hyjal, etc. I'm glad to see WAR embrace the explorers and offer us content and rewards for doing so!

The only thing I've found in two days of OB though was the map boundary that sent me back to my rally point...doh!

I agree with your point, in that people can and WILL complete as much as is humanly possible. I've got to point out, though, that completing all 12000 in under a year is not feasable, mathematically, and approaches absurdity in the things that would have to happen in order to actually do it.

Only the CE I believe has the most % possible to unlock but even then it is 100% a given no one player will unlock all on one character.. Proof?

Point 1 : CE only titles which are unlocks. SE and lower will not have no way to obtain
Point 2 : There are unlocks that are racial to each class. Unless there is specifically a mob, within your factions races (ie: Dorf, Dark Elf, etc) to kill you most likely will only get one for yourself doing something stupid (ie: exploding on potion building, self dot (BW)) etc

Like my SH main.. Unless I can find another SH to kill in PvE I'll never get the SH kill unlock LET ALONE the 100, 1000, 10k + unlocks and titles that accompany it.

There are more but these prove it cannot be unlocked totally on toon..

I don't even know if it's possible, actually. A couple days before Open Beta ended, I got "The Singed" for being killed by a Bright Wizard by killing myself with Combustion. But for live release, that doesn't happen anymore. Believe me, I've killed myself with Combustion a few times. ;)

ive only found one way of killing yourself that any class can do where you get credit for it and ive reported it as a bug.

There's various achievements for killing players with 2x and 4x your renown rank. These aren't going to be doable at later levels.

Also, kill 5000 renown 80 players *without* going above 20 yourself? Is that even possible?

That doesnt calculate through Renown Rank it goes through renown score I am told. So if you are 2 people at Renown Rank 80 you can still get that achievement.
