Photoshop ~2-3 hoursHow? That would take me days, if I could do it at all.
Any tips on how you do the shading and lighting? How you made the metal look like metal, and the cloth look like cloth.

Er sure I'll give it a go, for the look in that pic I always always start from a really dark base colour and then add shading on top of it. Metal is done in small clusters of light just dabbed on working through 4 shades of the colour with single clicks on anywhere from 5-50% opacity and a general low flow, then add the lines for edges. Build up the colours and go from there, small highlights for metal and long large ones for cloth. Metal picks up reflections from nearby objects so a small highlight on opposing curves.
All I generally use is the standard circular brush, no fancy pants brushes for me.
Not a great explanation but it's my general working, now I wander off to find out how to make clouds not look damn awful xD

Gonna have to try that the next time I'm coloring metal, my metal always looks.. well.. not like metal. :p
Thanks for the tips. ;)

I think the painting looks absolutely amazing!
Is that a subtle face added in the backround mist or am I on crack?

Possibly both, there's 1 thing paintined into the mistyness but that's a symbol of Tzeentch somewhere at the top right, but looking into it I can start to see faces as well... :O

I'm trying but I see not symbol, nor a face  The ruinous gods must not love me any more T-T.
I love it man, amazing work! I can draw prety damn well, but when it comes to the aplication of color.... well im about as skilled as a snotling ( I never credited the little green skinds with any sortof artistic talent)
i like the drawing, especially the skull shield. although the horns and the shape of his head kind of make him look like an animal. i've read very little about warhammer so correct me if i'm wrong.

Thanks and well chaos is prone to mutate and chaos armour is often known for growing around the subjects body so the animalistic look isn't out of place. Up for debate whether they're growing from his head or the helmet though :D

You must also note that his shoulderpads have teeth.
Horns tend to be additions to the helmet. If he was really gonna be mutated, he'd be something really vicious, not just gaining antlers.
Underneath his cool armour, Archaon is infact, human.

Good picture, though it is a bit dark and over shaded, It would also look very more amusing with a painted forest background maybe?
All in all, Good job

Its really good but I have one criticism.
In this particular piece it has a definite doom and gloom feeling. I think you could make the bad parts of it stand out all the better if there were a contrast. It seems to lose its epicness when the entire painting is dark. Heck, even your lighter shades seem dark.
In my opinion its the little things like beady red glowing eyes that make the best contrasts. But what do I know, I can't even afford the program to do that with lol

That picture is awsome the head seems a little small but it is great over all. The helmet and sheild make it look like real choas lord.
