So I was thinking, why not make warhammer the MoaG (the mother of all games) and have in each inn or tavern a dwarve or goblin ATM-like machine that players can click to enter a bunch of mini-games? You could add chess vs other players with ranks and ratings and real item rewards if you do well enough, have the chess pieces as warhammer toons and add checkers too.
Imagine being bored on your level 60 or 70 in World of Warcraft and going to an inn to play mini-games instead of cancelling your account. Naturally there would be a wide selection of games with one of them being: Monster mode.
When you click the gnomish/goblish machine (dwarve/goblin in warhammer) a large window comes up with tons of options. After browsing the options you click monster mode and receive a loading screen.
A few seconds later you spawn as a level 4-8 bats or gnolls in the newbie area of the other faction at a certain designated spawn point. Naturally as you roam about with your one autoattack ability and maybe, if you're lucky, bash or a slightly better weapon (which you drop if you die), you have to be very precautious about the guards attacking you.
As you wander about, you notice a level 5 fighting two mobs at once and immediately charge at him, trying to get a kill. Naturally it would be very tough to get a kill considering how player characters are designed stronger than the typical monster. He swiftly takes out both mobs and simply runs from you straight towards the guards, you get him low but no kill before the guards slaughter you and you respawn (and every time you die your respawn timer increases to prevent feeding).
This time when you spawn you see two other people playing in monster mode. Unable to communicate, you decide to follow them as they roam looking for noobs. This time with 3 of you you run across a player fighting a level 10 bear at level 7, perfect opportunity. All 3 of you rush to him and pound him to death, adding a kill to your leader-board records (only a few more until you get that in-game gnoll or bat pet!).
What do you think? Good idea? Maybe have monster-mode unlockable at level 50 or 60 or whatever the max level will be? Would probably be easy to code since you'd be using already-made templates for monsters.

Inevitably you'd have guild raids on monster-mode with epic wars between clumps of noobs and virtual raids of level 4-8 bats/rats or whatever low level mob you want. Naturally it only takes 1 high level player of the opposing faction to aoe and thoroughly quelch long-lasting griefing by bored guilds.

10 players in a guild do it at once, all charge some enemy noobie and that is called griefing...and that would just be in the first 5 minutes after releasing it.
Never underestimate the patience and planning some loser will put into griefing others, some actually get pleasure out of being a (pick a word I can't say here).

Perhaps with enough success and a good-enough kill-to-death ratio or high enough quantity of player kills in monster mode, you could unlock other zones' monster modes as well.

No no and no. Would be way to easy to grief players this way and for you to get "zergs" that just wait around the lowbie zones farming characters that have little to no experience and are just trying to quest. Any way, shape or form of game play that allows grieving to occur in a PvE area is a bad idea in my book. You want RvR go to the RvR zone. Leave the noobs alone man.
WirelessOC

Wouldn't be griefing for long because it just takes 1 level 20 to come in and start AoE'ing to really jack-up the respawn timers for the monster moders.

Not to mention making it so you have to hit level 50-60 first to unlock the game...

The whole point is to satisfy the griefers tbh, you'd be surprised how large the percentage of players going to a PvP oriented game are the griefer type.
Trust me, this game is going to be filled with griefers, almost everyone griefs some of the time, this actually makes it a challenge because really: the noob has the advantage.

You are severely over estimating the kindness of these level 20s that have nothing better to do then travel to the noob zones and protect someone. It is a bad idea. Really. Players will be chain killed/zerged/annoyed to no end in the NOOB zones. You want to do this in Tier 4 where players are 40 and in a RvR zone then fine. Any idea of doing it in a PvE zone is bad bad bad.

You want to just grief people the do it in an RvR zone. They are free game there and can expect it. However letting high levels grief lowbies in a PvE zone is just another way to drive this game into the ground by catering to people who have superiority complexes and no desire to be challenged.

I don't know why you keep arguing this point.
It's a terrible idea, end of discussion. The mini-games I wouldn't be altogether against, but not "monster mode." Also, you're bound to have your lore-obsessed whiners and moan about there being a virtual console in the Warhammer Universe.
Just a flat out bad idea.

It really is a big difference from griefing where a level 70 hunter with tracking sits in southshore and corpse camps level 20s for 4 hours straight.
This is just more pvp (or rvr as you call it) immersion from the get-go. Sure there would be organized raids on vent with 20+ level 4 bats flying around ganking, but all it takes is 1 level 15 character to wipe out that raid and kill their fun.

Good effort, really, but Warhammer is not where things like this belong. There are too many things wrong with it to explain, so I think "unfitting" will suffice. Seriously.
Also, find the "edit" button so you don't have to keep posting unecessarily independent posts.

although zeke can be a jerk about it :P hes right. this is a really bad idea,it belongs in a different game. And it whould just be used my griefer scumbags, because thers no other reason for it other than to grief.

WAR isn't an appropriate game for monster-mode type game play. The game is all about RvR, and things which don't contribute to RvR have no place here.
Not against monster-mode: just not in this game.

ya guys know what would be awesome but I guess never implanted?
if your side is outnumbering in RvR you should be able to go in as a dog of war(and your race is random like from anything from halfling to ogre) to the outnumbered side
and you'd actually earn a wee bit gold for the trouble that could go to your real character

Its people like him that give WoW players a bad name.
1) You have a bad idea
2) We show you its bad
3) You use flawed logic to support it
Seriously. Trying to compare it to some hunter who grieved you on a PVP server in a PVP zone means nothing when talking about introducing ganking into a PVE area. Last post here... I am done with this fool.

Haha this post made me laugh,
Hopefully the type of people looking for griefing options will be so upset at the lack of griefing in WAR they'll cancel their subscriptions.
Monster mode? don't be ridiculous, this isn't lord of the rings, nor a kindergarten brainstorming session.
Bar games in taverns though would be really cool, like playing dice in the witcher.

The whole point is to give people an avenue to try to abuse thats extremely difficult to abuse because you're just a level 4 bat. You leash, get killed by guards, in masses die quickly to one level 8 AoE cast, fighting a level 5 squig herder would be like fighting an epic end-game boss not to mention you have no real abilities other than auto-attack and would probably have a slower move speed than players.
Sure people would try to abuse it and grief with it, but it would be EXTREMELY difficult.
The main reason I say do it for low-level zones too is because people can level out of the range of it in 5 minutes flat if they try and it would be a real immersive eye-opener for noobs while being a serious challenge for the one entering the game as a monster.

How many MMOs do you actually have experience in?
And they're not trolling. They put their two cents in on the subject, you keep arguing it. You're trolling.
And I believe you're also going to find that a very large % of the WAR fanbase is out of highschool.

To be honest, if you forum trolls could get any more stupid we'd have to rename stupid in the dictionary to "DAARF" and add your forum profiles slapped onto the page with extra emphasis on the definition being: Extremely stupid, moronic, so freakin dumb and such jackasses that if you could get any stupider you'd de-evolve into a-sexual amoebas.

I agree with you, some people should really grow up. However, your idea as you present it(the monster mode in LOTR doesn't seem that bad) is not very good and you should try to either accept others' view on it or change it to make it better. Personally, i don't like any kind of mini-game in my real games, specially a game like WAR because if im bored playing a game, i shouldn't be playing it anyway.
Up to the minute edits:

If you've only played one MMO you can't make suggestions on how to make a new one better.

That's enough.
Some of you need to learn how to give and to take criticism. If you think we are going to put up with people crapping on each other's ideas no matter how bad they are, you have another thing coming. There is such a thing as a bad idea but any idea deserves to be given the benefit of the doubt, or, if not, Report Post. Some of the responses in this thread are disappointing.
That being said, the street goes both ways. If you can't handle criticism of your idea in a mature and responsible manner, then I would think before you post.
Either way, the only response to what you think is a troll or a hostile post is REPORT POST, unless you plan on responding respectfully and constructively.
This is a textbook example of how not to have a forum discussion.
