Hi. You run a great website.

I was wondering what your stand is for future offers from the huge gold selling networks for your website?

Let me explain. With World of Warcraft, every major fansite was pitched offers from IGE, ogaming, etc.. the big umbrella networks that are the backbone of online gold selling. Thottbot, census sites, and countless news + forum fansites sold out. The offers can get *very* big.

Now, WoW had an official forum, but Mythic won't have one. For DAOC VN was the big forum, but since VN is owned by IGN, it's pretty much immune to offers "too good to refuse." With WAR, this place is the supported site, "unofficially" chosen by Mythic. Without official forums, this forum will become the cornerstone of the WAR forum community. Now, at some point IGE or the gold selling umbrella networks will make VERY big offers, it's their business model to own and control the fansites for the games they want to deal with.

If they were able to purchase the cornerstone of the WAR forum/news community, they would effectively control the WAR forum/news community. So my question is simple, even if they offered you the world, would you keep WHA? Will you take the responsibility of being the cornerstone of the WAR forum community to the end, and not sell out?

I think these are great forums with great admins and leadership, and since the offers will come, I was just wondering on how dedicated you are to keeping and always owning WHA.

I do this for free and I enjoy doing it.

Everything about ownership etc is down to Garthy in the end though, and that's his own prerogative. Wether he answers or not I'm going to ask the respect of people that any offers would be his own personal choice and nothing at all to do with us, so let's have nobody coming along and bashing him for silence.

I bring you change.

May be an interesting idea...

For 1) It allows the website to have a ton of money

And 2) It allows mythic to better monitor illegal activity since it's all concentrated in a smaller area.

I have one question only. Are the VN boards really owned by IGE? Since I thought they were just owned by IGN Entertainment. And as far as I know, but I may be wrong, I don't think they are owned by IGE.

They are owned by IGN. Sorry, that was a typo.

For people wanting an alternitive to a secondary market ran fansite, database site, or community site. Stick around there's a lot we've got planned.

Good to know.
I hate bouncing around.
