Ok, I know which mastery is which and what does which but can someone break it down for my im still not 100% clear about them. Is there one that specializes in making your pet stronger? I assumed the Gaurdian was it but I wasn't sure. Can anyone clarify for me? thanks!

From what I was reading it sounded like this.
So you start off with 5 defense and 5 offense and same for your lion.
One line will give you +2 defense but you lose 1 offense, but your lion gains 2 offense and loses 1. That of course is how I see it and the other 2 lines are a variation.

Masteries don't increase stats, just the effectiveness of skills. I don't see how you could possibly lose something through masteries.

I wasn't necessarily talking stats I was just trying to point out it sounds like one you will be better at DPSing while the lion is better at taking damage or visa versa or the 3rd where can both dps multiple targets. Guess it was just a horrid attempt :(.

I kind of got you. I was just wondering which line would make your lion stronger basically.

I think if you want your lion's hits to be doing more damage than your own it sounds like Guardian line makes the master a debuff/distracter(which unless they get taunt like tanks is only going to work in PvE) while the lion tries to do positional based high damage styles. This may be what you would want for a "stronger" lion feel.
The axeman line will make the lion do roars that debuff opponents so likely not doing much damage on its own, while the master does the bulk of damage with positional based styles.
the hunter? line, is about combo attacks that do ae damage with the lion and master, I assume the damage to be the balanced roughly equal between the two.
I don't think any of the lines really make one or the other's defense higher than their counterpart. That is to say both the axe and guardian lines sound like reversed roles of debuffing/position massive damge styles, Axe for master guardian for pet.
but this is just my interpretation of the interview and newsletter quotes so the details may be drasticaly off ;)
