View Full Version : Multiple potions on you at one time

Title says it. Unlike some people I really like how the crafting system is set up in the game, the simplicity and freedom of it being my favorite part. The one concern I had though was if potions could make the game too imba. If they decide to make them decently powerful (which I wouldn't mind if they did) I think they should limit how many you can have on you at one time. Maybe only let you have ONE on you at a time. This way you won't have to go into battle against some guy with 50 of the best potions on him only to get decimated. I could see the three types of consumables that they talked about playing into this too. Maybe you could only have one potion, lotion, and powder on you at a time, this way you could have +mana regen, +health, and +willpower all at the same time, but still be limited.
Discuss.

I imagine that you'll be able to have multiple potions, but that maybe each type will have a cooldown period like abilities. Alternatively, maybe all potions will use the same cooldown.

Well that's pretty much what I'm saying in my post. They could make it so you could only have one POTION on you at a time. But then you can have a lotion and powder on you. I'm just afraid the potions may become too imba, from both the perspective of combat and also which crafting profession someone will choose. Why choose talisman making if you can only wear one talisman, but you can have 20 potions on you at a time.
Which leads me to my next question, do you think we should be able to wear multiple talismans? There could be different types-ones you wear around your neck, wrist, or fingers like jewelry. Or do you all think it should be more limited?

Mythic already said they like dinglydoos. I think we'll see plenty of dinglydoos from Talisman Making.

Alternatively, maybe all potions will use the same cooldown.I hope it's like this, but I don't want them to share the same cooldown. I liked how it was in WoW. Your potions, elixirs and flasks were all on different cooldowns.
It helped to prevent potion spamming, but kept them decently balanced. Like potions, which were healing\mana had a 5 minute cooldown, so you couldn't chug 'em like you did in Diablo.
Whereas the elixirs were your buff potions and had a cooldown of 2 minutes. You really wouldn't chug these, but it helped so you wouldn't use different potions when the battle went one way or the other.

Healing Potions in pvp play is a big no no for me, plus the fact that respawning is a rather quick process anyway (lats I heard was 5 seconds respawn from start zone or 45 seconds to respawn in same place you died).
Healing Potions are bad cause not only do they negate to some extent the effectiveness of healer classes but they also allow some classes to sit back and deal damage whilst being hard to bring down (think tanks blocking off opponents and nuker behind).
They have mentioned buff potions though, but also said they will be minor buffs so possibly more useful for PvE than PvP.
