Under the Fighting Runepriests heading
"A Runepriest can be a difficult foe to defeat. The powerful runes he can lay on himself and his equipment can make him a mighty warrior who is exceptionally difficult to slay. However, his abilities are primarily defensive or supporting in nature. In a group environment, it is wiser to leave the Runepriest for later and go after the heavy damage dealers or tanks first. They pose a more direct threat and, if ignored, are likely to tear you apart before you are able to work through the Runepriest’s defenses and healing powers. "
Ok so i dont get how they can be squishy if Mythic themselves have stated this about fighting them.

Well in my experience,
At the last road show I played at the Runepriest was somewhat squishy if you didn't do what you were supposed to be doing when you were being hammered on. If you're running around hoping your tanks or DPS will save yer butt, then yeah, you're probably going to feel pretty squishy. If however you hold your ground and use your abilities to your advantage while your teammates assist you, then I think you'll find Runepriests to be formidable.

Mythic has released that information page quite some time ago, possibly 2 years or so ago, and things may have changed. Mythic hasn't changed any of the class pages, other than adding Mastery Path updates. I recall them saying before that they won't change the pages until everything is solidified about the careers. So maybe that is why you won't see any mention of them being squishy. Although I doubt they will truly ever state this on that page. And they may not change anything to it, who knows. Your best source of information is still information gathered by people who have attended conventions. I remember that even for WoW a lot of the class details on Blizzard site were off as well.

At every game show where they've been shown, they wore light armor. I think you're reading too much into it, tbh.

Agreed. Robe wearing careers are always squishier than other careers. And I mean solely a robe.
Also, to the OP, when it says "rune inscribed armour" all it means is that the armour you wear has runes drawn on it. It doesn't make the armour more powerful and "l33t" than any other casting healer's armour. It just makes it different and iconic. You can't right click a worn piece of armour to use the rune on it or anything. The armour won't be better than any other class's.

All I know, is from playing healers.
That I find I have many protectors when they find they don't last as long while I am face planted in the dirt. So yeah we may not be a tank, but when it comes to a group relying on buffs and heals. You find fellow players to be very polite to you and accomodating.
So who needs heavy armor when you have a throng of IronBreakers throwing themselves in front of your enemy's blows.
Plus my wife is playing an IronBreaker, so I come fully equipped with a meat shield. ;)

Don't Runepriests get medium armor? I'm sure that bumps up their survivability somewhat. And I'm sure the best tactic against an experienced RP in a team will end up being, nuke the mage CC the healer.

Yes, but trust me, when you are in the woods and the moment hits, all wish they had a caster around to provide some......SUPPORT with their extra absorbant robes. ;)

As much as I hate to compare it to "other games"
Think of it like the WoW's priest. Sure, it wore cloth armour. Yeah... he was a pretty "squishy" target
But was he easy to kill? HELL NO! The priests got all sorts of abilities that keeps them going and going and going and just nigh impossible to kill. Meanwhile his buddies are kicking your .
I think thats what they mean by "laying runes on his equipment and himself". As in, once his runes are on cooldown and he's out of tricks - ya he'll drop. Not until then, though :)

We know the runepriests has some HoT's he can cast on himself or a friendly unit, he has runes wich either aplly defenses/offenses or give you the ability to use a spell. Beside that, runepriests were utterly overpowered some gamesday's ago (very hard to kill because of the hots) thus even if they hit em with the nerfbat they will still be a class to get hyped for.

* shame * what does HoT stand for */shame *
Whatever the case; light/med armour, rune armour ( rune of stone! ) or spells or neither, runepriests are dwarfs and even a naked one should be harder to kill than one of those sexy-also-naked Dark elf witchelfs. Superb body, but an axe cleaves it nonetheless. :p
Dwarf equals toughness. Its the = MC 2 Of Warhammer! Even without armour they are muscle packed and hard to just kill.

You shouldn't lay to much into that. Its just for to make the runepriest sound cool, and not directly their gameplay.

That pretty much covers it. Of course, as with every class, it depends on the situation you're in.

I think that the runepriest who stands at the back, blasting away at everything in reach will be very squishy. But the runepriest who uses his runes and unleashes them at the right time, to heal himself and his allies, and to buff himself and his allies, will be rather formidable.

Couldn't you say that about the Ironbreaker (the absorbent part, that is)?
