seeing as how the swordmaster is the anti- magic/ranged tank, i was wondering how u think he'll stand up in rvr(genrally and in specific situations, like seiges) relative to the iron breaker.

also i played lotro and there tank a mechanic were blocking and parrying would set up chains and i loved it so im really excited for this class even though the two are very different

I wouldnt see y the SM would be bad in rvr. It wouldnt make sense to me at all. Compared to the destruction tanks (Chosen/Blorc) I think the SM/ IB will hold up fine against them.

only bad things are.

1. No KotBS = No order buffs. Which means the Chosen will have no mirror and its debuffs will be very very bad for the order.

2. Most of the SM's abilities do magic dmg and most classes dont have alot of magic dmg deff. (Blorc,Squig herder, marauder, chosen ect). bad for destro.

3. Since there are less tanks I sense a bit of unbalanced-ness coming.

Less MDPS = RDPS owning the remaining tanks/ MDPS and melee healers and I can see WAR turning into a range class blast fest.

Destruction has it worse; they have no anti-magic tank (Blackguard). This means the Bright Wizards from the Order just got 1 less class that was supposed to be their bane. Bright Wizard will be owning faces at the launch of the game.

Just because there is one less MDPS class to choose from, it doesn't mean that the MDPS population will be lesser. People who were originally going to play Hammerer or Choppa can play other MDPS classes instead. We will be more likely to see an increase in the population of other MDPS classes.

Exactly. I don't see why this is going over so many people's heads. If someone wants to play a tank and had picked blackguard, they will just switch to another tank.. or another melee class. They won't just magically disappear and leave the spot empty... unless they REALLY wanted to play one and would rather drop the game entirely. But I really doubt many are that into the game or class at this point lol.

But regardless, won't casting classes be weak against melee classes in general? It's not like you can technically "Tank" in pvp like you can in pve.

No here is where you are wrong . You know where those chppers are going? Most of them are rolling Black Orcs as it is the only other orc class. Most BE are torn.. many will go to chosen tanks becuase it has the closest thng to the same feel, though I know any of them have gone magus, black orc, and everywhere else. I ca nnot say what there be less of but I know thye are adding a MDPS into black orcs masteries( per the finale of tentonhammer's interview) so idk , i really dont know

He is right, some people like particular qualities of a class. I am sad to see Knight gone, for example. If Ironbreaker were the only tank class on Order I would likely of chosen another archetype and been a sad bean.

From what they told us and what I can see, I think things will be fine...just kind of sad Black Orc is the only orc class, they do have a lot of flavor as far as races go haha.

I was a black guard, I am now a Swordmaster.

Well in comparison to an Ironbreaker, a Sword Master's use in RvR is going to depend on his spec (all of the roles of the classes change depending how they spec).

Path of Khaine - In the thick of it, doing damage. If the enemy ignores the Sword Master, they just taunt and then unleash a Perfect Balance attack and the enemy is in a world of pain, thus he's gonna be protecting the MDPers by distracting the enemy.

Path of Vaul - Using shield-based moves to stun and knock back the enemy the Sword Master will be well placed to protect RDPser and Support characters from MDPers and generally get in the way while the others heal the Sword Master and do damage on the enemy (Sword Master speced in Vaul and Arch Mage combo?).

Path of Hoeth - Would use buffs and debuffs on the party and the enemy and be a support tank, kind of taking up the missing role of KotBS?
