I cannot decide if I want to be ranged dps or a tank.
Any comments?
Any videos with either or that I can watch to get more of a take on either or?

If I was order, I would be engineer. Turrets, mines, grenades, barb wire, guns, it all sounds so awesome. That or shadow warrior, mobile rdps sounds awesome too.

I think the Engineer might be neglected, while the Ironbreaker might be overly abundant.

As always with tank classes though, you separate yourself from a common class by actually being good at it :P.

Anyways, a guildie post his impressed about Gamesday Chicago where one of the classes he tried out was the Ironbreaker, (sorry no Engineer)

but check it out, I also posted a video near the bottom of the page which shows almost every class (don't recall engineer, but it should be in there)

Those play styles are opposite directions.

On the engineer though, just keep in mind while he is a ranged DPS he is more of bunker type character. They are good at keeping areas in control, as their turrets and such are stationary. This is my understanding of their mechanic anyway. They are mirrored to the Magus on Destruction side.

Might want to consider that as well.

Enginebreaker. It's a mutant, cross eyed, dwarf, hybrid, super secret class.

Primarily their defense comes from their beards which are long enough to wrap around their body several times. They never clean their beards, and they put tons of hairspray in them so that it forms a kinda shell. This is considered a medium-type armor and does well against slashing damage, but not piercing. They can build contraptions on the battlefield but mostly they make a lot of noise and emit fart clouds. They also break engines as they are poor mechanics. :D

Nah, I'm kidding. Ironeer is the class for you! ;)

Haha...don't confuse the poor guy, he's already not sure which one to play!

I'd go with an ironbreaker, simply because ranged DPS classes are going to be more common, and theres only 4 tanks in the game, and of those te ironbreaker looks like it's going to be the least popular.

hah thanks but yeah... I might try the engineer out first. It does seem a tad more... interesting then the typical tank.

Well it's all in the playstyle, really. Do you want to march shield to shield with your fellow Dwarfs, and hack-and-slash your way to victory? Or do you want to bunker down, make those damn Greenies come to you, and then blow them to bits?

Personally, I'm going with the Engineer. They seem to have a bunch of cool tricks. A couple of abilities I've heard about were pretty awesome, a long-range Snipe shot with knockdown, ability to hide behind your turret, throw down a healing keg. And, I've always been a defensive-type player. Sure, you might get less kills, but you will certainly help out your team more.

Besides, Mythic is going in a completely new direction here. In most of the other MMORPG's I've played, using a tank spec in PvP got you killed. Period. And while I have the utmost confidence in the Devs, it might always not workout. Keep that in mind.

Try both, see what you like. I'll probably end up playing an Ironbreaker. In every MMO, hell, even RPG I've ever played, I just try different things until I find what I'm looking for, which always turns out to be the Warrior/Berserker/Knight etc. Heavy melee ftw.

Also, I'm a huge fan of Dwarfs. So, IB it is.

its beta so anything you've heard can change and probably will be changed even after launch most classes are likely to be changed a bit

I heard that to which is leaning me abit more towards being an ironbreaker. I have seen gameplay vids of a Warrior priest and a engineer with a turret up. The Warrior priest was taking huge chunks of health out of another player which the engineer when shooting did no damage at all really.

It kinda annoying though as the Engineers role has changed alot from the original of being "guy with guns, mobility, grenades and a little turret" to "guy with tons of turrets, no mobility and a little gun and grendaing". It like the team at Mythic played Team Fortress 2 and though "The Engineer works in TF2 so lets make the Dwarf Engineer just like that".
