No, it won't be. Over here in Europe we always pay much more than the Americans do.
In America you will pay 15 dollars a month as announced on various websites.

As I said on a couple of threads already: There are 4 or 5 pre-order boxes in a local store in my town of Novi Sad, Serbia. I'm sorry if it's too far away for most of you people but that's the situation. The box costs 10 euros. Good luck.

I'll post it here again since the other thread got locked ...
From the 28th August, the regular edition of the game can be pre-ordered at 5€ (£3.97), and this special pre-order pack will entitle players to a key for ‘Live Game Head Start’ access ahead of the full commercial release on the 18th September, as well as bonus in-game items.
So 18th September is the release date and the head start is some time before that.
What about places like Play.com offering Warhammer Online available for purchase now: Play.com link (http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/3473724/Warhammer-Online-Age-Of-Reckoning/Product.html).
I definitely want to be in the head start ... so is it best to cancel that order and wait for the 28th August? Or just hang fire until then to see what happens?

The single month rate is a little higher than expected ( inflation does have to catch up with MMOs eventually though  ), but the 6 month subscription is exactly where I expected.

Why don't they post the US Dollar cost since that's where most of their customers are?
Because that's from the European distributor, GOA. So why would they post American dollars for European customers?
Also, Asia will probably end up with more players than any where else, if/when they launch it there. So maybe they should post the money is a currency from that area?
Another thing, just to clarify, the Euro is considered the defacto standard for measuring money around the world these days. With the wonderful American economy, and the Euro serving more countries, it's become the standard replacing the American dollar. In fact, there's some people (actors, musicians, executives, etc) who now require payment in Euro's over American dollars due to it's drastic fall it's had in the past eight years.

Looks like i better build that new computer real soon, been putting it off as long as possible to get better value, time to hop to it.

They didn't raise the prices for all Euros, only for the UK (which is still bad though). For WoW you also pay 12.99 Euros a month, just as with WAR.

So if I calculated everything right we are 6 weeks and 1 day away from release... And as everyone remembers well Mark said that if they are self-confident they'd lift NDA 8 weeks prior release. So, they aren't SO self-confident, but NDA lift should be very very close and OB at the end of the summer.
Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE. THE WAIT IS STARTING TO PAY OFF!!!!
edit: I guess it's time to change my sig from mean to a happy one.

I'm quoting my self for twice the epicness.
20 bucks a month, 40 for two months = same as WoW for Australia.
I doubt they'd raise prices for us, they're trying to get people into their game from WoW arn't they?
Can't do that with higher prices ;]

I wouldn't get your hopes up, the euro is closing the gap with the sterling, and the sterling price probably just reflects the fact your money's not worth as much anymore...
LordTatami

Price in dollar will probably be around 15 dollars. With AoC it was just the same: Europe had to pay 15 euros, US had to pay 15 dollars. I always thought that was kinda unfair. At least now it will be smth like 13 euro (11 euro if you buy 6 months at once) for Europe and about 15 dollars for US. Much fairer.

Yeah...but you know this community...now that we know the release date, everyone wants to know how long the OB will be...and how long the HS will be...along with, will the CE get longer OB and HS periods? and if so, how much longer will they be?
Brace yourself for the next round of speculation

I can already tell you they will get the same OB lengths, I know this because they want to test the stress on the servers as much as possible so they want everyone in at once not spread out. And I beleive it was also announced that CE will get a longer head start.

Alrighty...so the questions now remain...how long is OB going to last? and how long are the headstarts going to be?
Like I said...the speculation is going to abound regardless...there's no way out of it, and no amount of "We'll know when they announce it" posts will deter the community from speculating, so it'd probably be best just to go along with it...

Wow. Just wow.
This has been an immensly long wait. Three years (not counting the Climax ones) might have seemed to have whized by in no time but when it comes to WAR they really haven't. When it comes to WAR it really has been a long wait. Still remember back in the days when we knew so precious little and every scrap was worth its weight in gold.
Its been one ride and it almost feels surreal that it might soon come to a end. Surreal but certainly not unwelcome. Because I can honestly say that there has never been a game I have been more anxiously awaiting. Hit or miss, the suspense is terrible. I hope it'll last. Well beyond launch.

At last. One step closer to knowing the dates I am using some of my saved up vacation time on.
Yes, I am using vacation time for a game. Considering how many of my friends are doing the same I honestly cant think of a better reason to use it.
So one step closer. Whenever you could get us that head start info Mythic that would be mightily appreciated. :D

Also James had said they haven't released the date for open beta yet and was wanting to take it in baby steps, did he not?

that doesn't technically mean it will open that date. Once that date comes around the mass of people flooding the Warhammer Website to download it may cause isues so they will most likely give 5-10 days so that everyone has the files downloaded so they can "truely" stress test it(Which is the entire purpose of their OB)

We are not prepared to pay the awful subscription price. I'm sure many people will, I'm also sure many people will flame me. However, me and at least six other people I know have decided not to play Warhammer Online because of their preposterous subscription price. So I've canceled my Collectors Edition from Play.co.uk if anyone in the UK wants to quickly snag it up.
Have fun in WAR, everyone. I was very much looking forward to seeing you all there, unfortunately I shall not be paying £10.3effing1 a month when I can play a range of games for less than that.
I'm sure WAR will be great and have a huge fanbase. Good luck in the future.

I'll post it here again since the other thread got locked ...
I concur with this person's question which didn't get answered probably due to flood of happy people posting. I want to get into the head start but it doesn't state what retailers are offering the pre-order head start special package. Can we get an answer for this please!

- 1 month for 12.99€ (£10.31)
- 3 months for 35.97€ (£28.55)
- 6 months for 65.94€ (£52.34)
Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't doing 3 month be £9.52 and 6 month be £8.72 or there abouts? So if the single month price bugs you so much why not get the 3 or 6 month sub and get the lower price you want?

It may have been a series of small things that upset him and finally pushed him over the edge. However, if he didn't consider your option I'm inclined that he was looking for a reason to be upset at this point. I think the prices are in line with what everyone should have expected. Got an email from Play concerning the Live head start -
Dear William,
The live start should be download as I do not think we have any plans in regards to getting hold of client CD/DVDs.
We normally ship pre-ordered items 1-2 days beforehand to try and ensure release-date delivery and as the game is released on the 18th it should time quite well for you!
If you have any more questions queries please don't hesitate to ask.
Kind regards -Play.com -JW

Why isnae the war-europe site up and running? Its past the 13th now. The sky is falling!
Had been hoping to see if there had been any changes made. Specifically if there had been any changes in the account management department. Alas we'll have to waita bit longer.
EDIT. Apparently no account management changes had been advertised. No point in yearning for something that wasn't coming ;) .
So I'm guessing that's a thing being implemented in the latest of August. I at least seem to recall a late August date being touted about now that I think of it.

id rather have one source of correct info than 9 million other sites which all speculate what might be happening... come on - give us a break for once..

Personally, I would love to see how Mythic and GOA would react if Europe boycotted the game....lets see how important the EU customer satisfaction level would become with a 50% decrease in revenue.
"Equal, if not better".....yeah, right

Would never happen. You have to remember that only a small potion of the over-all playerbase uses forums like this. And about what.. 1-10% would actually be so drastic. They know we never will, and thye know we are so wanting to play the game, that there is no real fear, as long as the game is good at launch and it can hold the player-base in thrall, they win.
I used to be really outspoken about it all, but i have given up. GOA dont care, Mythic dont care, so save your energy and direct it towards waiting for the game. So much easier and less stressful lol.

Yeah I fully understand what you've said and your totally right.....however I would just 'hypothetically' love to observe the reaction if a boycott from Europe happened.
The term 'taken for granted' comes to mind but calculate this into $$$ and its a whole different story....espaecially given how strong the £ and € is against the dollar.
On a realistic note though its something for Mythic to ponder on because they don't yet have a playerbase anywhere near the scale of lets say...Blizzard...so if this bad communication between GOA to the EU or Mythic to GOA is the start of things to come when the game goes live then if 'I' were higher up the chain I'd sort it out now. Its unacceptable to be treated like a 2nd rate community and if this shows once the game goes live then I'm sorry to say that Mythic will lose a higher EU player base percentage than I think they realise.
My 2 'pennies' anyway... /sarcasm off

tbh i think u have a good point van,
with WOWs new expansion out shortly after WAR i think that will be then people make there feelings known, and make a quick edit on there account page (if it ever turns up)
i hate to say it but blizzards customer support is a hell of a lot better then GOA will ever be.
and if GOA arnt able to pickup the pace then people will just reactivate there wow accounts and play that and WAR will be the biggest EU flop ever known. which tbh i think will be a huge mistake.
sometimes these big boys like Mythic/EA don't care until the brown stuff hits the spinny thing. then there wont be a lot they can do to get people back
Well im not playing £60 for a CE version of a game i havent played yet, so untill we get beta access or a preview weekend like the yanks, im pulling my pre-order and will be insisting my mates to do the same.

We have to wait, we always do. The bigger country gets everything first.
GOA seem to be taking their sweet time with this client download.
Oh hey, aren't the US getting their preview weekend this week? OH! Yes! They get a preview weekend all to themselves! And good old Europe gets jack **** haha.

pre order kit says we only get into the open beta and the preview weekend is not the open beta so they can do what they want and we all have to wait..:(

Open beta doesn't begin til Sept 7th. So until that day you guys are just kinda left out. It not really GoA's fault tho since Mythic did kinda of keep hush hush about the preview weekend until like the last second. I think GOA is taking their time to make sure Sept 7th is a smooth beta for you guys and weren't ready to deal with an all of a sudden announced Preview Weekend. Just be patient my fellows across the pond. Sept 7th will come and there will be WAAAAAAAGH!!!!!

Oh so it's Mythic's fault we don't get the preview weekend? Well Mythic, why don't you give them a red carpet eh? How about some free wine? I'm sick of being treated 2nd class, and I thought Mythic were all fair and square. *smacks Mythic with an English flag*
hi
i cant really believe what im reading here, especially after the nda went down and everyone has the possibility to see how great the game actually looks ... goa in flames :P
before the nda dropped i too was like, damn those goa people, they cant do anything right?!
now im more like, hey, the game looks great and seems to be awsome ... i dont really care about preview weekend, i even dont care that much about open beta ...
i just hope all you negative critics are all wrong ... whats important to me is that i can play the game when it comes out and hopefully i do that for a long time ...
i am confident goa will do their job right, although their homepage is a mess
, thats the only thing that bothers me ...

Problem is there are several companies selling Open Beta keys with SE, which don't exist. Also the German newsletter from GOA clearly stated that any SE preorder contains an Open Beta key. That'll be tons of pissed ppl even before the games launches.

Finally I find somewhere where there are at least some answers as to why I can't do anything with my Beta codes.
Just from reading the other threads here, I'm already set to give up the €15 I paid for the CE pre-order as money lost. I know nothing of GOA or their past, although I'm surprised to see they're based here in Dublin. What I do know is that they appear to have little if any regard for their customers and seem light years behind their US counterparts.
The fact that I had to trawl the internet and find out what little scraps of information there are to be had on an unofficial fansite says it all. Why is there no information on war-europe.com? There's no indication then there will ever be anywhere to input the beta codes.
I play both WoW and LoTRO regularly and the difference in the levels of communication and competency show by both Blizzard and Codemasters is staggering. The fact that a week after a GOA spokesman turned up offering to answer questions, but that no relevant questions were answered and the thread is now locked pretty much says it all.
Blizzard and Codemaster have set the bar for MMORPG service and any game that that doesn't live up to them - Age of Conan for example - is doomed to failure. As of this moment, I have little if any interest in playing the European version of Warhammer Online and am trying to order a US version of the game.

speaking for myself I dont mind the waiting part too much.. but what I do mind is not being able to have my codes entered and the client downloaded and installed ready to go so that "When" it does happen I am all set up and god to go.
As it stands it looks like it will be a crazy last minute rush for everyone to get sorted.. and bearing in mind we in this country dont get internet speed/quality like they do in US or aythinglike it... last minute rushing is not good.

I question for the NA people. In the Open-beta client that you have installed, is there a config file that has the server address in it?
Like with world of warcraft and the realmlist.wtf file
Just asking this now cos if there is then I might as well start dling the US client and change the file (if there is one) to the EU address.

Well first of all, congrats are in order for the GOA and Mythic teams. They did show in Leipzig how great WAGHHHHHHH is going to be. Keep up with the great work guys.:p
Of course most of the people that have been following WAR, already knew and that's why we are all this anxious to get to experience the game. Waiting is very frustrating, especially when you don’t know what to expect or when. Well Poo happens, at least they are trying to get to the core and give some right answers. Howling will not solve any problem, on the other hand, well... it better be a good game experience… I would hate to have to go back to WOW or Lineage :P
We will see what we get when we get it ;)
i really dont mind the wait, i also would not mind if there was not an open beta. i have full faith that the game is not only going to be good, its going to be great. what i do mind and what is getting people so emo is the lack of inforamtion. the section of gamers who play MMOs tend to be the more savi gamers (ok not the 12 yo that spams orange items in shat) . if thats the case the worst thing you can do is not keep them in touch.
i do not know much about GOA but i understand they made a mess of the EU DAOC, if thats the case they need to be super stupid over the top good this time round.... no? and if thats the case, are they being?.
i know if i was anybody in EA or Mythic, i would be reading this stuff and talking ALOT to GOA.

While I'm not too keen on jumping on the 'bash GOA bandwagon' I have to agree with Jeronas.
For a AAA MMO so close to release there's hardly any publicity around for it. When LOTR was this close it was everywhere, including a pretty cool TV ad that played on most channels...

A little off the topic.
Why are games released for US and EU versions at first time?
Isn't EA multinational corporation?

Indeed. For LOTRO there were adds on several TV channels in various countries and I even saw the TV Add in cinemas in both Holland as in Norway.

What we've seen on MTV was nothing but an appetiser. Rest assured, Europe will know WAR.

I think that they're doing ADs nicely. Warhammer IP fans and big enough crowd of people new to IP know about WAR and are going to play it on launch. It's a good player-base for launch. After that, if WAR is recognised as good by them then word will spread around, ads will show up more often and "general" crowd will buy the game too.
Having 1KK players at launch isn't better than having 500k. There will be many gameplay/mechanic/campaign fixes and changes after launch and only when game gets really stable (those 500k are generally very pleased) then you can be sure that more people can be "invited" to play it.
If someone doesn't like MMO at first try, then usually he's not coming back for very long time.

Ohh, now that sounds promising :-D
I'm looking forward to seeing some cool adverts and maybe this time they will be on a channel I normally watch ;)

Looking forward to the release of more public ads. :) Sound promising indeed. However, I feel the need to address the GOA bashwagon.
So far, nearly every thread GOA as produced on these boards in the last few days has attracted no less than several whinging trolls who - whilst I understand their disgruntled nature (I'm European too) - are constantly taking a bit club to GOA's metaphorical head (Ian and Magnus).
True, the service is not fantastic at the moment. I'd prefer to have Mythic at this moment in time. There are a hundred things I could whine about right now in this post, and where would it get the EU playerbase? Absolutely nowhere. Regardless of whether or not it were a hundred thousand doing the same thing, the result would remain unchanged.
There is simply only a few things that you can really do at the moment. Keep updated with what GOA are saying, keep asking things in a civil manner, and request politely that they change things or the way they are doing things, in a constructive way.
EA Mythic needs to place a bomb under the bed of GOA to wake them up and get off their lazy asses and start doing something!
