Is the WARDB ran by the same people on this forum? (Warhammer Alliance).

(If so AWESOME :D )

Yes.

WarDB.com is our sister site for the game. It's a collaboration between Curse.com and Warhammer Alliance. The goal, being to provide the WAR community as much information as they desire. Whether that be forums, career builders, character profiles, guild profiles, quest and item database, wiki, etc. We're working really hard and I can't wait to show it off.

Nice, from everything the admins here have done, I expect nothing less than an excellent Database

Will it be almost the same as wowdb.com??

Just one question, how will the item DB be updated and will it contain drops rates? Like it is done on WoWhead (add on that tracks your drops)?

Never used WoWDB, so not sure how it works, so thats why I ask :)

Edit: just checked WoWDB, looks nice, can't wait for WARDB :)

Yes. WarDB.com is based on the same technology and so it will have a very similar feel. That said, we're working on a lot of new features specifically for WAR to make this extra awesome.

The database is updated through the use of a plugin. Each time you play Warhammer Online, when you see an item, quest, or come across an NPC or gathering node, all of the data revolving around that content is uploaded to the WarDB.com database and added into our vast resource of information. In addition, we've got some very cool features that we can't quite talk about yet.

I noticed on wowdb, that there wasn't a wiki on the site itself, but instead there was link to a wowwiki. Will that also be the same, with a WHA-and-WARdb-"allied" wiki page or will there instead be a wiki on the main WARdb site?

We're still working out exactly how we'll handle the wiki integration, but I think it's safe to say it'll be similar to what you see on WOWDB.

This is awesome, Age of Conan had an epic fail in this section, it has been about 4 months+ from release and they still have no database sight anywhere. Awesome work guys!

Now, are you already collecting data from the closed beta, or once the game goes live, are we going to have to wait a few months while the data is collected?

I was coming to post exactly this question! Great minds think alike.

I'm hoping that the info is being collected somewhere safe and will be thrown open to us all as soon as the NDA drops.

You won't have to wait months. Any data collected will be added to the database that day.

This is really cool - I'm certainly going to be a uploader of data for this database. You just install the Curse Client?

Your allowed to have mods or whatever in games like that? Ones that upload info from items in game? What else can you do? Are you watching me right now?!

I'm supprised this kinda thing is supported by the WAR developers because they've always spoken negatively of 'spoiler' websites - and this is just a huge one basically - since it contains details they don't really want players to have but it sounded like they merely "put up" with the reality that people will cheat and look at sites like this rather than supported it, much like gold farmers etc...

The mod is like any other MMO addon, it just saves raw data to a file. Then there is an outside program, such as the Curse Client, that actually takes that file and uploads it to their servers. Nothing magical about it.

Yeah. Because database sites are sooo equivalent to gold farming/selling and services that completely violate the EULA. So looking up an item's stats or what an NPC vendor sells is cheating now, huh? And I'd really like to see any current quote from anyone at Mythic concerning "spoiler" websites. Go on. I'm waiting.

Wtf got up your arse this morning?

I wasnt comparing the two, I was merely saying it was something the devs tollerate happens in general.

And they've mentioned spoilers in a negative light in loads of podcasts and video interviews.

The ToK one recently with a woman talking mentioned it, Josh has mentioned it frequently.

They say something along the lines of "But, as always, there'll be a website which ruins the game and spills all the secrets of where these things are hidden".

Thats a negative light.

Now, come on, post in a stupid manner. Go on. I'm waiting. Go on.

No. You'll both stop posting in a stupid manner, because you both did by being overly aggressive. Please remove the borderline flaming from your future posts.

Listen, I'm not going to get into an argument over this. You compared a database site to a gold-farming website, which is completely over the line. Gold-farming and selling has always been a banable offense, and is always taken very seriously in any MMO that I've ever played. That TOK video that you referenced is over a year old, and specifically talks about people spoiling what kind of achievements you can get by doing certain tasks. Spoiling a game's secrets is eons away from actively violating a EULA and in some cases violating the law.

Now, I appologize if my first post seemed brash, but I felt it called for it.

No, I didn't, so why don't you in turn listen. I merely said it was an offense which they consider non-legal but tollerate because it'll happen regardless of the countermeasures they take.

And I felt my so-called agressive responce was called for too - even though I felt it was more sarcasm than anything :-P.

Mythic has stated that they're going to try and have some sort of database online like a wiki or something.

The Tome of Knowledge is so much more than just a database of things you encounter. It's your character's story, different accomplishments and unlocks, an interactive map, and so much more!

Will it be better quality than Wowdb? Atm at Wardb.com we just have this stupid jpg bad quality pic. And WoWDB's backgroundpic (also jpg) is horrible quality. Cool, but bad quality.

Not that it matters very much but well, I'm picky with those things :P.

So, seeing as the NDA is going to lifted within hours (I'm assuming we're running on the US clock for this, so I'll probably be asleep :P)

Any update on when the site goes live? Will we be able to use it during preview weekend?
