The last batch of CE Beta invites have just been sent out to all eligible CE Open Beta card holders.

We'd love to let everyone in but we still have a few more roofs to thatch before we're ready to have you move in. Look forward to the announcements on the preview weekend...they'll be coming to a Herald near you!

Since this is the first post I'll try to keep newcomers updated-

Many people with CE codes and computers well above the required specs were not let into closed beta through a flaw in the rating system. James from Mythic posted,

"I was just informed we're updating our account center to re-calibrate our rating system.

In some cases very new systems are parsed incorrectly, we have investigated several systems you have provided and will reassess invites accordingly.

I can't guarantee that everyone who has an above average machine will get in as there are still other factors to consider, but this should address many.

Also note that anyone who checked off "member of the media" or "works for the computer and gaming industry" boxes in the beta application may be ineligible for this CB.

We're still waiting to see if the problem was resolved, but at least allow them time to troubleshoot their system.

I think some of the people not getting in and know they have better comps then others that did need to relax a little. The invites trickle out over time and if by the end of the day you don't have yours then I would start to worry.

I'm not so sure this is accurate. What is coming this weekend is the ability to set up your account and to download the client. Considering the client is taking between 12 and 36 (with the average being somewhere around 19-20 hours) hours to download, if the preview weekend starts Friday, then it will be very short indeed since the majority of the weekend will be spent downloading the client.

Sorry, not trying to rain on your parade but you really don't want the preview weekend to start on the same weekend you are downloading the client and this is actually sort of good news.

By consequence, a lot of people- myself included- were appeased, and decided to hold onto our CE preorders rather than cancelling and switching to SE.

...and now *that* perk has been denied to many of us.

Now, as I said, I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but this is really starting to feel like a repeated bait and switch operation, especially in the absence of any communication explaining *why* a rather substantial swath of eligible CE preorder customers got left out in the cold.

So forgive me if I'm more than a little bitter. I think, though, that you can handle being a bit irritated when people cry foul.

Actually please take a minute and look at the quote you are using. There is a comma after eligibility. There for when they say every one he pre-ored the CE will get in that is for the preview weekend not the CB. You will only get into the CB with a CE tag if you are eligible.

If you are not getting in then you did not meet their specs. Either some thing was wrong with dxdiag or you hit the wrong button when signing up for beta.

Ten to one they are using some sort of automated program to check the dxdiag files and as well all not programs fail some times.

I have an amd athlon 6000+ x2 (3.0ghz dual core) 4GB DDR2 800 ram, 500gb 7200rpm hdd, 8600gts (yea i know my g-card isn't amazing, but when he made the first post about CE buyers getting in he said that he was pretty sure we'd all meet the requirements, which means that yes, I meet them.) Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit, there's absolutely no way that they required more than my system, which i know isn't amazing, to be in CB, there's just no way in hell.

No... not at all. You really can't mess up dxdiag, and I took my time when creating the beta account. I didn't say I was a member of the media or a game developer.

As I said in another post on these forums people were getting beta invites up to and maybe beyond 9:00pm est last night. So your invite may still be coming, take a break go do some things then come back later and check. That is what I did earlier today and found I had an invite.

Time was 3:16pm est, so maybe some others that got invites today could post their times the email got to them.

Signed up for beta in June of last year and my computer is E8400 @4.0 with 2x ati 3870s.... and still no invite. Systems specs stomp the min, been signed up forever and still got the shaft. Before the "omg qq more" stuff starts, they stated that CE people who met specs would get in. Clearly not the case and was just more lies. I just wish they would be upfront about things and not post that is clearly untrue i hopes they please some people. Poor form IMO.

Its not the fact that I did not get in CB, its that they told me I would. I would have been more than happy waiting for OB or Preview weekend. Well that was utill they made a statement sayig CE preorders who meet the min specs would get in.

Stop saying that the Preview Weekend is this weekend. It is not. The Open Beta will not come until September, as Gamestop had posted on their site. They were correct with every other date they posted as well so far.

Also keep in mind that the NDA has not yet been lifted, so how can they have a Preview Weekend and Open Beta with an NDA still locked and tight?

I think the entire process of how Mythic has handled all of their beta promotions is garbage. Sure, it's their beta and they can invite whoever they see fit, but when you release a statement outlining a specific promotion, you should be clear if you are going to disqualify certain people. It's misleading to tell people to purchase X to get Y and then not tell them about factor Z prohibiting their benefits.

The CE Closed Beta invites were a handout to appease the CE owners who were pissed about the SE Pre-order stunt. Now, they've pulled yet another blunder.

Unfortunately we cannot prove who is or who isn't so we have to deny access to anyone who declared themselves as such. This is the most common issue for players who state they have high system specs and have not been invited (that and people who used their work pc/laptop to post their dxdiag and not their main rig). And we really appreciate your understanding.

Preview weekend isn't that far away, nor is Open Beta, or even launch for that matter. You'll be getting your WAR fix in no time.

Your excitement is contagious and we've all got cabin fever as we scream WAAAGH!!! towards the finish line.

While things might not always go perfectly we're all in for an awesome time and I can't wait to share in your stories and meet you on the battlefield :)

Yea I'm officially not liking Mythic, I drop down 85 dollars for a game that isn't even out yet, I do everything like I'm supposed to, my pc is way over min. requirements, I'm absolutely 100% posotive I didn't check press/game designer, and there's absolutely no reason I shouldn't be in, this is beyond ridiculous, I'd say I'm canceling my pre-order but sadly, that would be a lie. I'm beyond disappointed in Mythic, I thought you guys were better than this. Yea I know OB will be soon, and I'm happy about that, but promising that if we meet requirements, and have pre ordered CE that we will get an invite to CB, and then me not getting one is just ridiculous. I've been signed up since aug 2007, and even after this whole CE CB thing I'm still not in. I wouldn't be ing had I not been told I was getting in to CB, but after getting my hopes up of posotively being in, and then yanking my hopes right out of my brain, I believe you can see why I'm upset, if not...whatever, have fun being in CB guys, you won't see me there :(

that and people who used their work pc/laptop to post their dxdiag and not their main rig.

The DXdiag file was NOT put in on any work computer, it was submitted from my person computer that I built.

Only thing i understand is that this is complete BS! Ive been following this game since the very first newsletter, my join date on this site should help prove that, I had been sighed up for better almost the day it came out, possibly the second day. I have the computer specs, no industry relations, App was submitted on personal PC!! all your reasons why i was not invited fall though the floor and are completely wrong when put in my shoes.

Could i please hear another excuse why i was not invited? please amuse me.. I would really love to know!

A few points.

I know many of you are frustrated that you didn't meet our requirements for these invite waves. It's nothing personal but we have to maintain certain rules in order to ensure a solid Beta experience.

In addition to system requirements we also check for press or industry relations, I know some of you have contacted me, telling me this was in error. Unfortunately we cannot prove who is or who isn't so we have to deny access to anyone who declared themselves as such. This is the most common issue for players who state they have high system specs and have not been invited (that and people who used their work pc/laptop to post their dxdiag and not their main rig). And we really appreciate your understanding.

Preview weekend isn't that far away, nor is Open Beta, or even launch for that matter. You'll be getting your WAR fix in no time.

Your excitement is contagious and we've all got cabin fever as we scream WAAAGH!!! towards the finish line.

While things might not always go perfectly we're all in for an awesome time and I can't wait to share in your stories and meet you on the battlefield :)

For the most part people pre-orded to get into the Open Beta. At that point it was thought and stated that was the only way to get into the OB. Then recently the SE was stated to have most of the same perks as CE for nearly half the price. So yea people feel shafted. Mark stated all people with CE pre-order who met the system Rec would get in the CB. Clearly that didn't happen. Again people are just angry they were promised something and did not receive it or even get a reason for why it was not followed through with.

Didnt get into closed beta, although i only applied for it about 1.2 years ago, and i guess a lot of people applied way before me. But my betacenter account is that old..

Now i got the CE edition, uber computer specs, no press/industry affiliations and i still dont get in?

So I guess people who DID fit the bill to get in just weren't allowed in? At least tell me that all the people who got in had beta accounts older than mine, that might make me feel a bit better eh..

I paid $80 for the open beta and headstart. The other items, in-game and otherwise, are trivial to me. Then we were told that we didn't NEED the CE to access those two things, and could get them from a normal preorder. (What do you mean you didn't know?! It was so clear!) I considered canceling, until the press release of August 6th--where we were promised CB access. Now that has been denied to me, and I'm left with no real advantage over the SE preorder.

Yeah, I bet the game will be good; that's why I bought it. But I paid more to get more... and now I feel a bit scammed.

I'm one of the people who has a CE preorder and has NOT been invited. No, I haven't selected any "member of the press", "gaming industry" , or other similar deterrent.

My rig is well above min specs. I'd even go far enough to say it's fairly "high-end".

My relative (who ordered the same day as I did, both amazon) got in the first wave. Since I knew there were going to be multiple waves, I figured "no worries, I'll get in one of the next ones". But nah. What's interesting is his rig is a couple years older than mine.

I'm just your average WAR fan here. Just thought that CE editions were getting in from all the statements prior to now.

I sincerely doubt that all of these whom haven't been invited yet are members of the press/gaming industry. Get real. Something else either got mixed up, or there has to be another wave. Just too many people haven't been invited that have the CE preorder.

this is certainly starting to get old, we were promised entrance to beta if we had a CE key, no press (witch i am not, and did NOT check), and met the system reqs. i have seen systems get into beta that have been posted that are below mine in terms of gaming power (im not e-peening, just making a point). in fact i recently bought a new computer to be able to play war at the best possible quality. there is no reason i should not be in, this is a mess up of epic proportions for me.

i was a bit aprehensive when i saw mythic making another game, as a friend of mine as screwed out of daoc a while back. then they were bought out by EA, that made it worse. after that nice little bait and switch with the CE bounuses, i was geting worried. then i learn that all CE get into beta if they meet the REQs, of witch there is no reason i should not meet. once again i get shafted. if this is how we should expect to be treated pre-launch, i shudder to think what will happen post launch.

WoTLK is certainly starting to look very nice at this point

i will give it until about 12:30 Central tonight for my beta center account to say i was accepted, after that i will be canceling my CE and just waiting to see if my friends think this game is any good before i have enough faith to go purchase another game from EA Mythic.

The last explanation was garbage. Very few people in this thread checked off the press / industry boxes, and the systems linked are far better than my friend's--who got into beta on the first wave.

I'm sorta confused as to why you paid $80 for the open beta, since you are getting nothing more solid then 'pre-play' time that will not even carry over. Okay, the headstart is carried over, but for what, 3 days? You should of gotten the colllectors for all the neat stuff (figurine, art book, comic book). Wrong. As per the Herald, CE invites are over. Those saying that they are still going out are basing that upon last nights wave and the fact it didn't go out until 8-9pm. We've already had the final wave today.

No, I'm also pissed like many others. I paid the same price, it's not my my computer and still I didn't get an invite. This thing was promoted as something extra for people who've bought the CE. I know from comparing with people who are in the beta, that some of them have a worse computer than I. Let me present the other side...

Giving them the benefit of the doubt, Mythic did a craptastic job of communicating the specifics of what was required to get into the open beta- the entire community believed it was a CE preorder, when in fact any preorder would have done.

As near as I can tell, this mass admittance into the closed beta was Mythic / MBJ's olive branch after that debacle. Sort of a "sure, you spent $40 extra that you didn't need to and wouldn't have had you known, hopefully this will make it right." By consequence, a lot of people- myself included- were appeased, and decided to hold onto our CE preorders rather than cancelling and switching to SE.

...and now *that* perk has been denied to many of us.

Now, as I said, I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but this is really starting to feel like a repeated bait and switch operation, especially in the absence of any communication explaining *why* a rather substantial swath of eligible CE preorder customers got left out in the cold.

So forgive me if I'm more than a little bitter. I think, though, that you can handle being a bit irritated when people cry foul.

I'd agree with you if it wasn't for the fact that mythic promised the CE pre-order customers invitations to open beta, not closed.

But you still get more ingame stuff from the collectors edition than the standard edition though. You get that exp ring, 12 extra quests and those extra heads + you do get into the preview weekend also.

Well, it took three waves, but I got in this afternoon, and considering I'm about midrange to top heavy on my system reqs, I have to say the whole damn thing is random and everyone who has CE just has to be patient.

And if it makes anyone who hasn't gotten in yet feel better, I can't get the torrent done because of the LAN of the complex I live in (no access to the router iteself so can't do jack to open ports). Fortunately, I'm not totally out of options...although it'll be a little longer.

Hopefully I'll be ready by the end of the week...which is when I get the necessary folding table for playing in front of my TV anyways :p

Interesting, I am in the CB and have purchased the CE and have entered the code, yet I didn't receive an invite for my CE. Was going to let a guild mate use it but guess not now. I used the same DxDiag file for both.

I really think it was more than just computer requirements or members of the press.

If you applied your Open Beta Code to your Closed Beta account we would not issue a second account.

The system is not designed this way.

I was just informed we're updating our account center to re-calibrate our rating system.

In some cases very new systems are parsed incorrectly, we have investigated several systems you have provided and will reassess invites accordingly.

I can't guarantee that everyone who has an above average machine will get in as there are still other factors to consider, but this should address many.

As James just recently said there was a problem and they are fixing it hopefully many of the people that did not get in get in.

Now yes I would be angry if I did not get my invite today but I would not be going off like half the people here. Why? Because for the love of all that is holy it's just a damn game and there are better things in life that my angry and what not can go to.

First I didnt get into beta, and I think people need to calm down.

If I had to guess I would say this closed beta will be played for about a week, then preview weekend and open beta will come around. Seems like they want people to get it downloaded ahead of time. It keeps people happy and its smart.

I cant wait for the game to release and everyone will forget about this 1-2 week period where they felt the world was going to end.

Thanks for the update james. As noted above it would be great if we are told if for some reason (and no, I didnt do it), our accounts are flagged as industry associated, though I'm thinking this is out of your control... either way - I'm E6600 2.4G Processor, 2 gig ram, 8800GT 640mb card (factory overclocked, i get the feeling this card is stuffing it up), XP Pro etc etc.

A few notes, Closed Beta invites are always subject to eligibility, we need to have requirements in order to ensure an organized, structured testing environment. I apologize if your expectations weren't clear in this regard.

After reading this thread I noted that some people should meet our requirements so I investigated and was told we would be updating the Beta Center. There are an endless combination of PC's out there, we do our best to keep up with every new one we encounter :)

I try to predict as many outcomes as possible, but we can't predict the future all the time, in those cases I react when necessary and answers your questions to the best of my ability and investigate the rest.

We try to make the experience as effortless as possible for everyone, but when questions and problem arise, we handle them best we!

Hate to say it, but many of us are tired of Blizzard for false promises. So for them to start the same methods this early is not a good sign for us. So yes if something is promised then it is expected.

You E8400 is clocked over 2.5Ghz is it not? E8400 is stock at 3.0 I dont see how it could mess that up... The E6600 on the other hand is stock at 2.4 and that could cause problems, cmon James talk to us,

The issue isn't 5-10 days in the closed beta.

The issue is going from "preorder the CE to get into open beta" to "preorder any version to get into open beta" to "okay, CE preorders get into closed beta" to "whoops, not all qualified systems / customers get in- but don't worry about that, just wait for the preview weekend!"

In short, I'm tired of being jerked around. I'm glad they're looking into it, but this has really shaken the admiration and trust I had for Mythic to this point.

It was never stated that only CE would get into the open and yes maybe they should have cleared that up sooner but eh happens. So your point their is moot. Not all CE pre-orders were getting into CB only those with qualified systems and no press tags. Which we just learned there was a problem with the system they used to do that and they are fixing it.
