Your error problem probably just has to do with the servers being down right now. But, I could be wrong.

They said mid-week, but they could very well be ahead of schedule, allowing for the servers to be up as early as tomorrow rather than Wednesday.

Well i have been downloading for almost 24 hours and have 29 % this is the worst beta download i have ever done bar none, and i have beta tested scene EQ1 man i miss the cd in the mail days lol.

If they wanted us to download it that way, they would have made the torrent contents contain only the patcher. Thats not the case, which leads most of us to believe that they dont want it to be downloaded that way. It would likely bring the patch server to its knees if lots of people did that.

To put it simply. Ive seen the ban-hammer start swinging for lesser infractions than this. Just because you can do something, doesn't make it a good idea.

I never said i hoped for someone to get banned. Just gave him reasons why OTHERS didnt want to download it that way. Just offering my opinion and my reason for using the torrent.

I ran the patcher at first, as I always seem to have a better connection. But after getting 6.5gigs in , it error'd out on data.myp file everytime. No matter if i deleted it and retried, or got just that 1 file off the torrent.

I ended up just running the torrent, took about 9 hours(alot of daytime , so lots of users online) and everything worked after that, patched and able to login.

Also, thanks for making me have to stay up now. Usually I go to bed around 6 a.m. (it's 2:26 a.m. atm), but with even the slightest possibility of the servers coming up tomorrow I won't even be able to shut my eyes..I have to play as soon as the servers are live again XD

Of course, knowing my luck, the servers won't be up tomorrow and won't come up till wed/thurs (of course I was part of the first wave of CE's to get invites so perhaps my luck has changed?), and my 'staying awake' will be for naught. But meh, I need to get back on a regular schedule anyway :p (that is, sleeping at night, being awake during the day).

i maxed out my dl limit getting the client. Then this 0.5 gig patch comes out and after enduring 10 minutes of 12kb/s throttled speed I upgraded my account online to the fastest thing available....I'm not dying from anticipation, honest :shock:

The patcher is how they used to distribute the game, except that a lot of people were having issues with download speed. So they substituted it for an even crappier download method.

All I can say is 60k+ people all downloading a game of this size is more traffic then Youtube sees in 3 days(last I checked). Maybe they havn't upgraded for the bandwidth which is why they didn't tell people to use it did you ever think of that? NOOO people just think because its there and somone said to do it that wasn't from Mythic, that they should do it. A patcher is just that, a patcher. Not a game downloader because you are impatient. Some people just don't think about the things they do.

I swear some of the people around here act like they are entitled to CE Closed beta. You were invited so follow the directions given and be happy.

I'm guessing it's a Dramatic improvement to something that was one of the issues in previous beta.

Hence those of us that never experienced the issue wouldn't appreciate the fix as much. ( Could even be a shader implimentation )
