I have been been trying to Download the game for sometime now. But I am only averaging 17 kbs. I tried looking at portforward.com but all it did was confuse me . I am using uTorrent 1.8 but if it takes this long to download the game will be released already >.<

Head to the Torrent Q&A in the Beta section. My post on the front page will help you a lot.

portforward.com does look confusing at first, but you aren't going to get anywhere without it so you may as well do your best to try to make sense of it.

Don't stress too much, even with all ports forwarded and everything running fine, the torrent still has a max speed of 17KB/s. :(
Perhaps a Mythic super seed?

Just run the test and make sure your ports are forward, and that your firewall isn't effecting the download any. Also make sure your upload number isn't to high. I ran mine at around 30-35 the entire time I downloaded. But check out all the other threads on this subject, there is plenty of information.

Have you tried limiting your ul speed? Increasing the amount of peers per torrent and global? Changing encryption to forced?

I'm having the same issue. I followed the instructions on the portforward.com website and got the port open to allow the download, but I'm always sitting at a pretty slow download speed.
I usually don't leave my computer on 24/7, but it looks like I'm going to have to for several days to complete the download.

I have a feeling Mythic setup their tracker up poorly. Cause mine is running at 50KBps, and i just loaded up an ubuntu torrent, and in 20 seconds it was up to 477KBps
Its why I'm downloading the client through the patcher. Yes it might put a strain on their patch servers but im downloading at 370 on it, and i just downloaded 25% in 3 hours. If this stays constant, ill be done in 9 hours.

here's the real dumb question..
I've been invited to CB and I've definitely torrented files before but I've never seen something go this slow. Can you direct me through a PM to the beta forums or something? I can't seem to find my way there.

CE CB dont get access tot eh Beta forums. We are stuck with help from outside without breaking NDA, or just figuring it out on our own.

You can't get to the beta forums if you're from the CE.

Yes, I am not new to torrents AT ALL.

I have to admit this is my first time downloading something so huge over bittorent... O.O
Perhaps throwing Fileplanet a bone and letting them host the download at the expense of some "Subscriber" beta testers would've been a more painless transaction.

Bittorrent speeds are limited by a number of things. Your upload speed is one of them. If you are only uploading at 10 kb/s, don't expect to see much more than 10-20 kb/s download. Just because you saw awesome speeds on a Linux iso, doesn't mean you will get awesome speeds on any torrent. The Linux torrent probably had way more seeds than peers, which means even with a crappy upload, you will get good download speeds. When the ratio is the other way around, people who upload faster get to download faster.
If you are uploading way more than you are downloading, however, the various speed guides people have linked would probably help.

if the torrent is being slow as balls, use the patcher. i used the patcher because its less complicated, less prone to get errors, delays , or drops in speeds while im sleeping, since this is like a multiple day download.
My only problem is that i already downloaded 40% before starting to use the patcher so i had to re-do it all.

from where I come from, BT is throttled during the day and set loose during the night... I've been downloading since Saturday or Sunday and its only hit 40+% today. from what I see, there are more leechers than seeders... that's why its slow. I'm leaving it on in the morning till evening when I go to work even after I download it so that others can get it... I'm guessing a lot of people who downloaded it simply shut off and therefore we have so little seeders.

Just wait till you go to bed. Most nice people will put their uploads to max and call it a night, where you will probably get some better speeds. At least that is what I will be doing. (I would do it now, but it really slows down my browsing speeds to a snail's pace, even at 5kb uploads. I need to fix that.)

thats what I do..on 2 machines...what happens is that there only so much bandwith that can augmented by people also uploading but if you get to many leachs on torrent it well be really really slow...

In response to complaints about FilePlanet, Mythic just released this URL:

Have fun!
