Well that sucks...

I'm actually kind of upset by all of this because it for 1 totally ruins the exclusivity of being able to participate in something like closed beta, AND it sucks for some guy with Collector's Edition key who didn't get an invite. Here's the story.

I buy CE a while ago, so I'm promised a CE. I get my brother interested in the game, but by the time he can purchase it, the CE's are sold out. So anyway, he orders a SE from Gamestop. Today, however, he got a CB key. So for all of you who didn't get invited to the CB and are like "I'm well over specs", the most likely reason is someone messed up along the line, and you didn't end up with the key you should have gotten. Personally, I'm disappointed that fans have to be disappointed because retailers suck, and because people couldn't think of a better way to manage that.

Well CE wasn't even supposed to get CB invites in the first place, but yeah it still sucks that you didn't get invited, but open beta is around the corner anyway, and the NDA will be lifted soon too. I'm actually impressed that Mythic did this; people were upset that the regular edition preorders had the same bonus as the CE preorders, so Mythic right away gave CE a longer headstart and the chance at a CB invite.

Well, I got an invite, but I mean, there are alot of people who didn't. But what I'm saying is he is going to get all the same bonuses (except the tangible stuff, which I can't appreciate yet, since I don't have it...might be worth the extra 30$...I don't know yet). He will get the same headstart, the same OB, the same CB, the same PW, and most likely the same IG items. I'm just saying its a little unfair to others. I guess that's life, but I payed 30$ more and people are pretty much getting the exact same crap.

They said they weren't sending out random CB invites anymore, only CE ones. When he entered his SE code it also said under affiliations "Collector's Edition Pre-Order" and I didn't really think about it because I figured it would work itself out.

You weren't promised closed beta access. James confirmed that if you didn't get into Closed Beta, then you didn't meet their internal requirements.

Promised? Please show me a single thread where a Mythic representative EVER said that they promised that all CE's would get into the CB? You didn't get screwed at all, you're getting more than was originally promised. Some of us just a little more.

Lulz...I didn't make this thread to QQ, I simply made this thread to offer a possible reason why many who were over the specs got denied...If people want to flame me for that just go away...you're seriously no any better than the person who's QQing...

Looks like he got in because he was given a Collector's edition code with his Standard edition Pre-order. That is also why he appears to be getting the same stuff as you.
I have no idea how this will effect his headstart. He may recieve the normal headstart but lose his char when he puts in the cd-key, because he's putting in a SE cd-key with a CE pre-order. But thats speculation. The mix up was likely at the retailer, not with mythic.

Well, they didn't technically promise anything. The way I see it though, if you go to the store, and pick something up, go to pay for it, and the cashier takes the item and puts it back on the shelf, and you're like...um...wtf, and the cashier is like "never promised that if you payed for this you'd get it..." you'd be peeved...I mean, okay, I'm exaggerating a little, and I am grateful that I got in, but I really do sympathize with those who got rejected invites...This isn't a QQ thread, and if you don't have anything constructive to say, please don't say anything at all...this includes:

1. I didn't get an invite either.
2. Stfu whiny baby
3. Don't pretend you're upset you ungrateful...

Nope. I my dxdiag is from my laptop, and James said that they did not invite people using laptop chipsets, even though mine is significantly over the minimum spec. That would have been nice to know a couple of months ago, I would have used a friend's dxdiag.

You never were promised the CB. They(developers) said that CEs that meet the system requirments and pass the other test, such as if you are in a gaming industry or what not would get it. But, one of the devs gave out a post earlier today, after the third beta invite wave, that they would be reviewing the accounts again and will give out invites accourdingly. So there is hope!

Yes, James said that the problem might be if you used a dxdiag from a laptop or work pc rather than your main gaming rig. I'm looking for the post right now, but he's posted about 30 times today.

In addition to system requirements we also check for press or industry relations, I know some of you have contacted me, telling me this was in error. Unfortunately we cannot prove who is or who isn't so we have to deny access to anyone who declared themselves as such. This is the most common issue for players who state they have high system specs and have not been invited (that and people who used their work pc/laptop to post their dxdiag and not their main rig).

If everyone who got into or did not get into beta made a thread about it, we would have nothing but these threads on the first 3 pages.

Seriously folks - unless you really have a good discussion point to make besides "Yay! I got into beta" or "Boo, I didn't get into beta", your thread is going to be closed. We have a lot of other topics in this new forum that need to take priority over these threads. I'll shorten it for you:
