We'll provide instructions and let you know when it's open tomorrow, but we wanted to announce tonight that up to the first 50 thousand Standard Edition Open-Beta keys registered will be invited to the upcoming Preview Weekend in addition to all of our registered Collectors Edition Pre-Order customers!

While we haven't announced any dates yet be rest assured that the next few weeks are going to be action packed and this is your only way to get into the preview weekend if you missed out on the Collector's Edition.

Good news for SE people, I was really hoping for an announcement about a direct download. If they don't offer some sort of direct download then I'll just have to wait till I get the box and the disc to install. It wouldn't be the end of the world if that happened, I'd just be a bit peeved. Though James did mention 'multiple download options'.

That really sucks with the whole Gamestop thing... I went through Gamestop too and I got my codes right around 3 days later... I had talked to a Gamestop employee about it online and they said the codes can take 3 to 4 days to appear in your inbox... other than that, that really stinks... :-?

I dont see how gamestop could give out wrong codes, mine were sealed in the box that mythic shipped them. If there is an issue with the codes sounds like they just havent put the batch that gamestop got into the system. They could be scrambling working loads of overtime to get these codes put in. Im hoping so at least

Well not to be rude to any of them if they didn't but Id assume they have a program running it. The codes were generated by a computer and printed so they could just set it up to keep entering if for some reason it couldn't take a bunch at once. I dunno I have never dealt with a database of that size but considering for the most part the table they would be filling would need little more than that one field...

In fact it could be as simple as copying the table from one to another and editing it to fit. Maybe its just slow in changing the status line or something

It's just that when some people are told their codes are invalid while others, who got them from a different source, are told they are valid but they cannot be used yet. Maybe they aren't in the system yet, but with the way the beta has gone so far I'm pretty pessimistic.

I still think the scan was likely not complete, but either way...how many CE folks were there? 60k ($180k extra spent)? Not sure how many weren't invited, but it sounds like a lot. And now to be inviting 50k people who did not spend the extra for this...that doesn't seem right to me, even though I still say grats to the SE folks that get in.

Who all bought the CE and unfairly did not get in (that is, you truly have a more than ample system and have no press/game development affiliations, regardless of how you interpretted the badly written drop-downs)? How many of you now think that extra money is worth a couple books and a toy at the expense of getting a bigger head start on the game at a lower cost? Gotta consider how many of the rejected CE folks would much rather get their money refunded, buy the SE (fill the app out correctly this time) and wait up to get in CB...

Well I do believe that the extra money was mostly for the physical items you will get with the game since well I want to beta and help out and all but spending money on a beta is kinda stupid. Honestly in many cases they aren't sure the CE pre-orders are actually sold since a lot of stores if you pre-order in them you only have to put something like $5 on it. Which means I could have put the money on a CE and then went in and been like oh sorry I want the SE after they gave me the codes (I didn't) but I could have. It is ridiculous to assume a company would give you something that's "added" into the price before their sure they have your money. Sorry if it seems rude I'm tired and anxious.

I know all this...I'm saying I'm still pretty sure I did not flag game/computer industry or anything that should have kept me out (I'm a COBOL programmer). I'm happy for the SE folks getting in, but for us rejected CE folks that truly should have gotten in...we have nothing to do but to complain, cause we spent our whole week fully expecting to get in...planned around it, even aranged a little time off work and the like. Now we just gotta lose that time and rant on forums. We're both sorta right.

People want to know what they’re paying up to $100 for (that’s what it costs Canadians). No-one can argue that this collector’s edition isn’t amazingly full of WAR goodies from the hard-cover comic, art book, and table top figurine to the in-game exclusive items, faces, head-start program, and open beta access. All of that is a really good value for your dollar compared to other CEs, that is, if you actually end up liking the game.

I agree with all this...technically the difference between SE and CE preorders was just the physical items. But the fact remains that a week ago, Mythic stated that every CE order with ample systems that is not a member of the press or the gaming industry would get in. As it stands many that meet those requirements did not get in, which amounts to a week's worth of wasted time and anxiety for an unfulfilled promise.

Perhaps some of those people misinterpreted the drop-boxes, but if the application had indicated "Setting this to Yes will prevent you from receiving a Closed Beta invite" or even "Setting this to Yes means you work for a video game development company" nobody would have made that mistake, and people would not have been disgruntled over this.

If they want more folks in beta, I would say they should address the people that know they should qualify for the invites already promised rather than giving so many to people that could easily just buy their SE tonight, lie about their affiliations, and be in. I can email my W-2. That's as easy to read as DxDiag files, and much more reliable than user input drop-boxes.

Hehe, but, again, I'm just spending the time I allotted to playing the CB...don't pay me any mind...not much else to do atm.

Ya, if I had to compete to get my slot while having the CE preordered I would of been quite upset with Mythic. But we got what we were promised for once and if a few more SE people get in them I guess they need them to test. Good luck to you SE people and remember to be nice to that F5 key lol.

I think Mythic really needs to run a special customer service offer, allowing any CE preorders whose birthdays are in the next week to have their accounts manually reviewed for possible misses on the eligibility fix. Just a QC thing.

If the NDA is lifted before Open Beta, will the CE preorders that exceed minimum system requirements and may or may not have been rejected because of affiliations (whether interpreted and checked appropriately or not) be invited to CB? This only makes sense, as so many of the CE rejects appear to still have more than ample systems and claim to have no such affiliations...and the NDA is the only thing that could keep them out.

Same here. The card that came in the box says to use the Open Beta code on the beta center and to use the Head Start/Items code on the account center. So which one are we supposed to use at the account center tomorrow?

The Open Beta code I got from the EA store says "cannot be used yet" when entered into the account center.

I am going to be raging if by following the directions on my Gamestop sheet and entering it into the beta center caused it to be invalid or unusable at the account center. Need clarification. :evil:

Same here. The card that came in the box says to use the Open Beta code on the beta center and to use the Head Start/Items code on the account center. So which one are we supposed to use at the account center tomorrow?

The Open Beta code I got from the EA store says "cannot be used yet" when entered into the account center.

I am going to be raging if following the directions on my Gamestop sheet and entering it into the beta center caused it to be invalid or spent on the account center. Need clarification. :evil:



yea mine says on beta center, current associations- warhammer preorder. I hope thats all i need to do to get in open beta, otherwise, im screwed for not putting it on the account center site.

I'm pretty sure you are supposed to use the Open beta key on your beta account, to "activate" it or make the server aware that that specific code is for that specific account. Then you go into the account page and make an account with that key.

Then in the account there will probably be another "enter game keys" which will be where the second code goes (guess).

We will all just have to wait and see for when they announce the account management site is accepted open beta keys.

But who knows just make sure you sleep just enough to stay coherent tomorrow and be up while its still dark outside and you should be alright.

Also Atarix OB wouldnt be this weekend anyways, they have Preview weekend still to do, and I am sure that CB isnt quite ready to drop since they havent lifted the NDA, and James or Mark or who ever hasnt mentioned that the 1 final thing that needs to be fixed to lift the NDA being accomplished.

So just hope that this weekend is the Preview weekend, and that we can all feed our greedy little minds with WAR.

I concur. I'm not sure what PW will include for WAR, but AOC also had a PW in conjuction with Gamespot BEFORE the OB. For that game, they let you experience pve lvling to about lvl12 I think (memory hazzy here) and then had an auto-lvl to 20 for everyone for some mini-game pvping.
