We are a heavy armor wearing class thus we can soak a bit of damage but we are also called the magic tank class... does this mean we will get decent resistance to basic magic that regular tanks (ala IB) donot possess?

Judging from everything that I've read, I think that Swordmasters are better equipped skill-wise to deal with magic attacks. I don't think it has anything to do with resistances, although I could be (and probably am) wrong.

We have slightly less melee defensive abilities and slightly more anti-ranged/anti-magic defensive abilties. Compare an Ironbreakers Sheild Wall to our Wall of Darting Steel. Same function, different type of damage that we and our allies are defended against. We also have slightly less armor and more avoidance than other tanks.

thats kinda what i was thinking, we are a more well rounded tank/dps making counters harder to get. we are still heavy armor thus pysical gets its reduction, but we have better magic resistant capabilities then others (IB) making the normal melee bane a smaller grap.
im not saying we wont have faults, i havent played yet of course, but its interesting to speculate
