View Full Version : [EU] - An Open Community Letter from GOA

Hello,
My name is David Petit and I am in charge of all European community management for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.
As you know, we are approaching the launch date for the game and just as there is a lot of information released, so too will you have a lot of questions. This exciting but delicate period can create confusion between different sources with mistranslations that can result in apparent contradictions. These rumours and errors only make things worse for the WAR community. There is only one way to combat this: effective communication based on mutual confidence.
The objective of GOA for Warhammer Online is to make the game a success and the sole indicator of this is your satisfaction. Just as you may have read in various places, we have invested in a quality infrastructure as well as quality people in order to respond to all your concerns. It is this last point that I want to talk about today.
We manage five communities in Europe, with varied and diverse customs and it is clearly impossible to communicate in a single manner to all these communities without taking into account their nuances or adapting to their significant differences in sensibilities. From the perspective of effective control of our communications and to ensure we bring the best feedback to our partner Mythic, we have recruited community managers to work within each community. These are video games professionals who possess indispensible skills in their work but who are also players that love the communities they represent.
To avoid all misunderstandings, for clarification of a situation or to obtain official information, I recommend to you therefore that you turn to the community manager dedicated to your language. He can reassure you as to the validity of any information or discuss the details.
He will read your contributions, heed your opinions and requests, so do not hesitate to ask him questions or to address him directly. He is here for you and for the regulars of this place.
In collaboration with the administrators of this forum, this thread will in future be dedicated to all your questions concerning GOA and the operation of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning in Europe. Iain Compton and Magnus Kjellstrom, the community managers for your community will answer your questions as quickly and clearly as possible.
Until our paths cross in the Old World.
Best Regards
Garthilk

Folks,
Going to remind folks. This thread isn't for commentary, it's for questions. GOA has worked something out with the administrators of this site, and we want to provide them a simple place to answer questions. So leave your commentary for another day. Save your back handed questions too, because insults and disparaging remarks thinly veiled as questions will be dealt with
As usual, we welcome open discussion, no "flaming" of any company, game or individual will be tolerated. Ideas and thoughts are welcome. Insults and disparaging remarks will not be tolerated.
Keep feedback constructive. All feedback on the game is appreciated as long as it is constructive. Keep it straightforward and include examples and facts when applicable. The best way to get your opinions recognized is not to be abusive or offensive, but to be constructive and communicate in a mature fashion.
If all you have to contribute to a thread is negativity, then you have nothing to contribute. Negativity does not advance a thread and tends to derail it as people start responding to the negativity with negativity of their own. It's a downward spiral with zero worth.
Consider this a warning to everyone posting in this thread. Those that violate the forum rules will be delt with. I would really hate to see more people unable to access this site, when there is so much excitement going on. So, fair warning to all.
In case anyone was wondering, you should be posting questions, not rants or opinion posts.

;)
Actually I'm fine with GOA. The only thing I don't like is the flash site :)
I'll be fine with GOA till the server opens for the early adapters (head starters) which is when Mythic-GOA have to prove they've got it, only then can we make a fair judgment.
Appreciate the letter (I actually had bets going that a letter like this was inc... I win ;) ) Thanks for reassuring us that GOA is on track, keep working on the server hamsters.
EDIT: Clarification: I don't like the fact that the site is in FLASH. The design is fine.

Hi, I know the post by Mythic took you a little by surprise or at least some of the content did. Do you have any more information for the European CE customers? Will we get access to the closed beta also?
Thanks,

Will the EU CE pre-orders have any type of special access in the future?
What kinds of changes can we expect to the EU website and account manager?
Does GOA stand commited to patching, launching and expansions being the same time as their US partners?
How does GOA plan to roll out their open beta process?
Tell us about the meeting with Mythic, has Mythic commited to improving communications with GOA?

Right. It is good that someone higher than Iain or Magnus wants to talk to us.
@ GOA - We haven't heard a word about how the meeting with Mythic went and what decisions were took. Most of us EU players out there are still angry about GOA not including a CE Closed BETA, but this is understandable, however, Mythic recently opened up their Open BETA accounts page and are now letting people entering their Pre Order codes as we speak. What will actions will GOA take regarding the EU Pre Order buyers? And furthermore, what plans will GOA take regarding customer support for WAR after release. Thank you and best of luck!
Hello there! And thanks for setting this thread up, i hope it will give the EU players all the information they need.
My question, would it be possible at all to get a 'rough' timetable of when things are going to happen for the EU people?
ETA on the website being fully working
ETA on when the beta codes can be inputted.
ETA on when you will be serving Cake and Pie
I understand that the chances of you giving us the dates is slim, but hopefully you can do it sooner rather than later!
Much respect,
Laughing God

Thank you for this opportunity. It is very much appreciated.
Over the last week or so the US side of the WAR community have received some very good news, with their CE preorders getting access to closed beta, ability to download the game client and information on preview weekends. Also they have seen promotional goodies like the Road-To-War.
Now on the European side we have seen less "love". For many European players this is a matter close to heart. We tend to compare between ourselves and our US friends, and we do not seem to get equal treatment. Why is that? In fact, I myself how problems navigating and accessing your homepage, which should be the face to the european community and our first stop for information. Why not do it simple and efficient like the US version? Why can we not put in codes and have a beta center like our US friends could months ago?

Hi.
Why is your website riddled with bugs and misinformation?
Why does it say First name: and then Name: in the betacenter, that doesn't make sense.
Why does it say the wrong release date on your webpage?
Why is the FAQ not up to date?
Why is your website in flash, therefor causing lots of bugs which could be avoided?
Why can't you carbon copy the US site so we get the same treatment as them?
What are we going to get to equal out the CE preorder differences as in US getting in beta and we don't?
Why do you say that it's hard to have different communities as in different languages?
Just make sure you say the same thing as the US Mythic side does and don't retranslate it to something else. Please tell me that you are fixing war-europe.com.
Thanks.

My concern is that we are being kept in the dark. We we promised an announcement in a few days about what we were going to get. We have yet to see any announcement and it's been more than few days.
IanC told us that Mythic's announcement caught GOA by surprise yet a german CM has said this is not true. GOA were aware of the announcement but your timetable was unable to be changed. Why the deception?
Why is Mythic able to invite the CE preorders into closed beta, but you are not able to. I know it's because the new data centre is not yet in place but I want to know why not. You are both working to the same timetable yet they are prepared and you are not.
How do you think this sits with european players already sensitive about GOA's performance with DAOC? How do you think this makes players feel in light of the promises of equal or better service.
Before anyone starts banging on about service not starting yet as we haven't bought anything, please don't. The US preorders were in exactly the same position but were given a bonus.
My last question is this; why doesn't your open letter address ANY of the concerns that have been raised during the last week? You have not given us any new information, just words that really don't mean anything.
We are aware that you are going to be on time for open beta. This stopped being good enough when the US CE preorder customers were invited into closed beta. I think it's outrageous that you think it is acceptable to be cutting your timetable this close to open beta and release. You're going to look very foolish if something doesn't go as planned.

My concerns are similar to most other peoples.
I would like to know if we will be getting into the beta on time and will we be getting the preview weekend like US customers?
If we will be able to download the Open Beta client in advance so we are not spending time we could be using to play WAR downloading it?
Will the EU customers be getting any news to do with the previous events and let down of a chance at entery into the Closed Beta?
I have heard that normal pre-order copys of the gamein EU will not be getting into the Open Beta like the US, is this true?
My final question, what is GOA's policy on patching and expansions will the dates correspond with the US release dates?
Thank you for your time.

Welcome to the Warhammer Alliance community David, and thanks for posting here :)
I think Garthilk has asked the main questions for me for now.
The only other one I have is with respect to the Road of WAR site, which looks fun; will GOA be launching a Road to WAR site or similar, or if there are no plans will Mythic be extending that site's maps to include the EU?

How is the communication between you and mythic? as it seems their announcement took some of you by surprise
Following that, How is your internal communication? supposedly a german manager knew about the NA CE CB but Ian didnt.
Its nice to see that GOA actually realises people are getting stressed and acted, seems to be a good Omen

I think it's clear now that european CE buyers arent getting the CB deal NA buyers got and I guess so will happen with the Preview weekend also. It's a disappointment, but I'm more interested to know that:
Are we (EU CE's) going to at least get the 1 day extra in the Headstart like the NA CE buyers?
ps. I truly, truly hope that we get in OB the same time as NA do..

Are we going to get a proper Herald and website like Mythic where we can see the players stats, Renoun Rank, Renoun for the Week, realm status as well as a proper news system.
Will you proactivly market the game. The reason I bring this up is that in DAOC in the UK a year after release, you had to hunt for a copy of the game in a shop. I dont want the EU servers to die like they did in DAOC through lack of availability in the long term as well as lack of marketing.
Are you going to give the community an exact date to where people can input their OB codes? Its not like you are giving an important date like HS or OB start dates. People need to know as this particular point has caused lots of concern for the EU community.
Will we have the ability like in most games to move our character to a US server or from a US server to an EU server in the future. (Obviously for a fee) As some people do have to move every year or so between countries.

Are there plans to improve the website before launch?
Will there be enough time between the open beta client release and the start of open beta ie torrents do take ages to download if you live in a country with datalimits.

Ok, here's how this will work, this is a Q&A thread, you ask questions and either Magnus or I will get you an answer. If it's possible for us to give you an immediate answer then we will, if we don't have an answer to a question then we'll get you one. I won't be able to respond to this thread much over the weekend as I'll have sporadic net access and, of course I won't be able to get answers out of anyone until Monday when people are back in the office so there won't be a lot of activity from me here until next week.
Zaagazug, this post is partly a response to the posts that Sterntaler made on Onlinewelten. There was a lot of confusion as a result of apparently contradictory information coming from different sources. We are all encouraged to be open with our communities and of course a lot of people read sites from different communities and get information from many different sources. If you read here you'll get news from Magnus, the Mythic crew and from myself, on Onlinewelten you'll get updates from Kai. That information should always be co-ordinated of course but sometimes it isn't and when poor translations and paraphrases get crossposted, slight differences in meaning get blown up into big changes. When Kai posted, it was some 5 days after Mark Jacob's announcement and there had been a lot of discussion between us and Mythic in that time. When I posted, it was a very short time after Mark's post and at that point what I said was correct.

All good and well but you should start posting on the european website itself and inform people that way. Oke, first of all this is not an official forum and secondly only a small part of the community knows about this forum and checks it regularly for updated news on the game.
So either this becomes the semi official forum and there is some sort of big button pointing to this forum or you post all these statements on the website. Also i would like to point out that it needs to be made clear on www.warhammeronline.com (http://www.warhammeronline.com) that this is the american service, because i still see people ask evry day why they can't register their codes on that website.

Are there any bonuses for EU SE pre-orders? If yes, from which retailers can I pre-order to get these bonuses?
I'm asking this question because in one of your recent (6 August) press releases, that also had the monthly subscription fee in it, there was something about 28 August. I thought it was saying that from 28 August we would be able to pre-order SE (EU version) to get bonuses. The problem is that the press release I'm talking about seems to have disappeared from your site.
When will the EU website start to be kept up to date with current information and be the premier source of information for the game as it should be. (since most don't hunt the internet for information)

Question 1: It seems like there is a lot of confusion going on because all goa community managers provide slightly different information on different fan websites. Wouldn't it be better to have one official source of information? Will you reconsider your choice not to have an offical forum?
Question 2: Is this the final eu website or is a redesign scheduled ?
Thanks :)

What kind of changes can we expect of the EU site? Change of looks etc?
When can EU excpet to be able to download OB client?

Garth has already asked the majority of questions I had, but I have a couple more.
1) Where are the servers for EU Warhammer located? As precise a location as possible (without giving an actual address, of course), would be helpful.
2) Does GOA feel like it has sufficient resources ready and tested to support potentially hundreds of thousands of EU WAR players?
3) Are there any plans to "de-flash-ize" (ahem) your website, or otherwise offer a streamlined version of the website?
4) Do you have any plans regarding "official" languages on servers?
4a) How would you react to a section of the playerbase on a server declaring that it's an "Insert Country/Language here" server and that people not from that country/speaking that language are unwelcome? I ask because this situation occurred on EU WoW, and precisely nothing was done, which left a number of servers as de facto Russian servers or the like, but players starting there didn't realize this often until they were some way towards being levelled up. I'm not suggesting people be "punished" for this, but I'd hope that GOA reacted in some way, either by publically making it an English (Russian-favoured) server or by asking politely that exclusionary behaviour cease, rather than simply ignoring the issue.
Finally, I'd really like to see Garthlik's question: "Does GOA stand commited to patching, launching and expansions being the same time as their US partners?" answered promptly and with as much detail as possible. A simple "yes" isn't terribly reassuring, but I guess it'd be better than nothing.
Personally, due to poor previous experience with GOA (this is not a criticism, merely an experience), I've ordered the US version. However, I love to have good ping :) I also think the EU has a slightly better community for me. So I will be watching GOA's progress with great interest. If you can pull off a solid launch and maintain parity with the US on patches, then I might just have to swap back.

This thread is going to explode so I'll try and keep this short:
In the recent newsletter you stated the SE only comes with headstart and two in-game items. However, D2D lists the preorder as coming with open beta also. (http://www.direct2drive.co.uk/6566/product/Buy-Warhammer-Online:-Age-of-Reckoning-UK-%28Pre-Order%29-Download)
EDIT: As does the EA store (http://eastore.ea.com/DRHM/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayProductDetailsPage&SiteID=eaemea&Locale=en_GB&Env=BASE&productID=106719600)
Will pre-ordering the SE entitle me to a place in Open Beta (as it does in the US)?

Firstly, welcome to the forum David Petit and Co.
Same question but instead, I've already ordered it from Direct2Drive (UK) as of yesterday, mainly due to Direct2Drive advertising that you'll get access to the open beta if you purchase Warhammer Online from them and still have yet to recieve any information about the open beta etc...

Question: When can EU CE preorders start downloading the client and how will GOA handle the 50 000+ people slamming their server the sime time? I am concerned about this because for some of us it might take a long time to download 9+ gigs, which might in turn cut out our OB time.

Firstly, thankyou for the Q&A thread. Regardless of the answers given, I think it goes a long way to relieve the slightly 'left behind' feeling the EU community was beginning to approach.
Anyhow, just a few questions.
1. PreOrder CE bonuses. Are these bonuses available to those who have preordered or to those who have preordered and bought the CE (I am reffering to HMV's £10 preorder).
Where the case says "PRE-ORDER BONUSES" does it really mean "Collectors Edition Bonuses" ? (With exception to OpenBeta access, obviously...)
I ask because myself as well as a lot of others I know would have no use for the CE art book/miniture other than for kindling should it fail to ebay successfully and only are interested in the few ingame items offered.
2. Server location? I personally like the idea of all languages sharing servers but I realise I'm part of the minority here. What is the decision regarding this?
Also will (hypotheticallly...) English servers be in the UK, German in Germany, etc etc?
I think many assume they will all be based in france...which is pretty good news for most people anyhow.
3. Will the game be actively marketed/advertised? Is GOA responsible for this or EA?
4. Website. I'm just reinforcing views here but I think most people would far rather have a fast HTML site than a needlessly flashy...erm...flash site.
Perhaps a flash front for drawing in the crowds but a HTML account center+newsfeed that can be bookmarked to avoid the WAR store front for existing customers.
5. Game enforcement. I don't expect anything specific here, but just for the sake of the community's happiness; Is GOA aware and equipped to deal with the griefing/abuse/hacking/theft/botting/ebaying/farming and so on so forth that inevitably infests any online game?
Obviously nobody's going to say "nah, let 'em come!" to that, but can you share the company's stance on this?
Thanks in advance, the responses are greatly valued by everybody.

Will the feed back during the game (after beta) be taken equally from the EU and US, or will it be predominantly aimed at the US.
This site for example, is about 60% US traffic and 40% EU traffic, we get a lot of EU traffic some months depending on the news, so more often than not, this site is a good representation of 50% and 50% and yes, the developers are very active here as you've noticed. I imagine they'll continue to take and recieve feedback and read the forums.

This thread is going to be 100 pages long before Monday and we get any answers ! :D
Q1. Are the (EU) CE Pre-Order Customers going to get the extra days in Closed Beta like the US ?
Q2. Will there be a Road-To-War web site for Europe ?
Q3. With all the negative feedback from DAoC about the Flash driven Website, why was the same system used for WAR ?
Q4. Are you planing for the near future sticking with the Flash Web Site or Are there updates in the pipeline ?
Q5. If everything is going to plan and the timetable has not changed, why is the US account up and running and yet the EU account are not ?

You have stated that the EU and NA open beta will start at the same time which is great news and of course you can't disclose when that will happen.
However the NA customers DO know when they can sign into their account pages and download the beta client. (The 15th... Today!).
When will we be able to do so?
To be more precise:
When will the EU account pages be up?
When will we be able to download the beta client?

I'd like some clarifications
About the codes most of us already have, there been multiple threads popping up about theese codes not being entierly correct. suchs as the O and 0 letters actually being Q letters. I got a sorta inoffical response that this would be the case in my codes that I recieved from webhallen online store. Is this really something that will be a problem with all codes and not just target codes?
Another part on this is that I heard the codes might also be an extra letter too many, I'd really like to know that my codes will be proper functional when the time comes to enter them.
thanks for your time

As many have asked the main thing I think the EU community wants to know is at least a rough idea of when we'll be able to create accounts and also a date for downloading the OB client.
Also I think this should be directed to GOA as I can't see Mythic having much use for it:
As a speaker of English and an advanced learner of German I have always liked to play WoW and FFXI in German on occasion. In FFXI it is as simple (with the EU client) as clicking a button before logging in (no extra downloads needed). With WoW you download a language pack add-on so to speak. Do you have any plans to allow us to do the same?
Oh and welcome to the forums. The fact that someone pretty damn high up in GOA has come here and allowed us all to ask questions to quell our concerns is greatly appreciated.

This is a good idea, and will go a long way to making us (EU customers) feel like we are getting an equal service.
Q1. will EU CE get a extended HS?
Q2. will EU CE get into CB?
Q3. will there be an EU Road to War?
Q4. when will we be able to down load the client?
Q5. when will we be able to set up are accounts?
Q6. will the EU SE be invited to OB?
Q7. when will the EU website be updated?
War is much more than just another game, and thats why the community are so vocal about there concerns. Im a long time Daoc fan and can see the improvements that GOA have already made.
Thanks for your time and effort.

Can you tell us anything about this, David ?
Thank You in advance.
I will re-iterate this as it voices all my primary concerns, plus its been 2 hours since the initial post and i se no answer.
On top of that, ive been watching MTV since 16.00 GMT and have seen nothing. Any explanation?

- What is GOA's definition of "on time" and is it the same as Mythic's?
- Since EU CE Preorder customers have so far not received the same service that USA CE Preorder customers have received, will those EU customers receive the same Open Beta Service? Same service in this instance is qualified as: same starting date, same length of time.

my only q. is when is the DNA going to be lifted?
Are we dealing with genetics now?
Anyway,
a) why didn't you build a new data center beforehand with no such hurry
b) why did you choose Flash in the first place for your website
I know there will be a lot of questions posted and that these won't be answered, but thanks for reading them. I hope these make you think a bit, especially the second one.

Q1 :- What with the EU get in reply to the US-CE bonuses, lots have complained so a answer for that would be nice.
Q2 :- Will we get something like Road To War? Considering the US has the creators behind them, i can see them geting lots of extra items, will that happen to us too?
Q3 :- What was said between GOA and Mythic during the meeting?

I've summed up what's been asked thus far. ;)
Head start
How long will the headstart be?
Will the CE customers get at least a day extra (earlier) headstart?
SE / preorder
Are there any bonuses for European SE pre-orders?
If yes, from which retailers can we pre-order to get these bonuses?
Open beta
How long will the open beta be?
When will the open beta start?
Will open beta start at the same time as the Americans?
Will we be able to download the client in advance?
When will we be able to imput our CE open beta codes?
Will CE customers still get into closed beta?
Will SE get into open beta?
preview weekend
Will we get a preview weekend?
Road to war
Will we get road to war?
Website
When will the website be up to date?
Any chance we get a non flashbased website?
Why not make an exact copy of the usa website?
Payment
Which payment options will we have?
Multi language
Will we get servers with different languages? If so wich ones?
Server
Where are the servers for Europe located?
Does GOA feel like it has sufficient resources ready and tested to support potentially hundreds of thousands of European players?
How would you react to a section of the playerbase on a server declaring that it's an "Insert Country/Language here" server and that people not from that country/speaking that language are unwelcome?
Is GOA aware and equipped to deal with the griefing/abuse/hacking/theft/botting/ebaying/farming and so on so forth that inevitably infests any online game?
Will we be able download a language pack add-on?
Account transfer
Will we have the option to move our character to a US server or from a US server to an EU server in the future?
Patching
Will we get patches and expansions on the same day as the Americans?
Feedback
Will the feedback during the game after beta be taken equally from the EU and US?
Will the game be actively marketed/advertised?
Is GOA responsible for this or EA?

[please in order to keep this post small enough dont post questions covered in this one]
when can we do what the us can do?
I know this might be a random question, but it just jumped into my noggin.
Will there be any live server events when the game is live? Like big nasty monsters eating the High Elves in the name of the true rulers of all that is godly, the Dark Elves?
Also, i think they gave the thread for us today, so that they could get a large list of the burning questions, and then at the start of next week (doubtfully monday!) They can answer a huge batch of them at once, even tho, i think we are all asking the same questions! Might be wrong tho, i usually am! :-)

This needs to be answered ASAP !

Website
Given the complaints made against the current EU WAR site are there any plans to change it?
People would prefer to have a copy and paste job of the US site rather than an uneeded bugged flash site.
Planning
Is it possible for us to see the plan GoA has in place so we know when to expect things to happen rather than being kept in the dark?
I personally prefer to know whats going to happen and for people to say "sorry, honest mistake we didn't get it out today but we will get it out on <insert date>." See US OB download as an example of this.
Game Launch
Do Collectors Edition have a 3 day headstart and the SE have a 2 day headstart?
Will we have access to the CE heads during the headstart or do we need to wait till after the actual launch date before we have access to them?
Information Delivery
Is it possible for GoA to provide more important news of whats happening on the website or via a blog on the website? Not everyone will be interested in whats going on in the background but there are those of us who do, this would be nice and also means should things be going wrong we won't need to jump for our tin foiled hats.
Dear GOA, two questions:
When will you start working? Seriously, what did you do in the last months besides some cm-posts and moving the servers?
Are your "quality people" quality enough to set up a working website? I don't even dare to ask about account management, just a working, bug-free website.
I'll probably get banned for this post, but after following the community forums for a long while now, these are the only questions that come in to my mind, sadly.

Not so much a question to start with as a fyi: The recently added news item on the front page of http://www.war-europe.com/ is referring to "Exclusive prices to be won". I think this was meant to state "prizes"?
First true question: Since the website went back up Firefox is displaying a warning regarding an unrecognised certificate when loading the site, this did not appear previously. Is it safe? What is it?
The flash buttons above the centre news section are no longer being displayed. Is this an error?
The flash banner and "prices" problems can be seen here:

The certifcate problem can be seen here:

Goa:
Why am I, a CE owner, not in the CB like my US friends?
Why do I, a CE owner, not have anywhere to enter my keys, when my US friends have been able to do so for almost 5 months?
Why can I, a CE owner, not download the OB client on Monday as my US friends can?
Why do you not communicate with your customer base with anywhere near the level of frequency or helpfulness as Mythic?
Will we, the EU customers, actually be able to enter OB on the same day the US can, as YOU and Mythic promised us from the start?
Will we, the EU customers, be playing WAR live, on the release date of the 18th Sept, on stable servers, like the US?
In short, why, when we are supposed to be treated equally, are we being left way behind by you, the people we are paying (I paid for the CE, as I was told to do on your website, in a shop, 6 months ago), when compared to the excellent way the US operates?

Two very simple questions:
1) Will you ensure that European CE-preorder customers (like myself with the nice little box and codes from HMV for which I already paid £10) will get access to the closed Beta and Pre-view weekend at the same time as the NA CE-preorder customers?
2) If this should not be the case, will you publicly admit that you have already broken the promise that European GOA customers are getting "equal or better service then their NA counterparts", and will you admit that GOA therefore has again delivered a second class service as in DaoC?

Questions:
1) Will EU get new quality non-flash website like warhammeronline.com?
2) Will we have Mythic Account Center too or how this will be in EU?
3) Will EU CE preorders get into Closed Beta?
4) Will be there EU Preview Weekend for EU CE preorders?
5) When OB starts and will it be same date for EU and US?
6) Will servers be located in one place in EU or there will be datacenters in few different places (like Blizzard did); also where?
Feedback:
First of all I do not know GOA. So I think my opinions are not corrupted.
1) Website - It is quite bad because it is slow, flash is bad choice for main news site and/or account management (it can be used "deeper" in guides etc.). Also no Herald there. I avoid it and visit US site instead.
2) CE preorder - I feel left behind as US preorders are in closed beta already while we in EU know nothing. I know it was surprise from Mythic to GOA so I can't really blame you but some information and updates on what you plan to do with this would be nice.

1. When (a rough ETA if possible) will we be able to enter our codes?
2. I take it we're not getting into CB/Preview Weekend. Thats cool, i can dig it, i know it was a last minute thing and all; however, are there any plans for a shiny EU only in game toy? Personally i'll be happy with an in game eye patch. I'm easily pleased, and eye patches are snazzy.

For some reason, the first time around, my post was removed and labeled "Open Community Letters that were not Questions" (http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53932) despite quite obviously being a very relevant question. I'm going to go ahead and post it again, and censor the very few parts which could've been missinterpreted as "commentary, opinion, or otherwise", I also highlighted the question in a nutshell:
My [CENSOR] for GOA aside (it [CENSOR], if I were a [CENSOR] in WoW, I'm a [CENSOR] in WAR; [CENSOR] :() I wanted to ask a question that's been on my mind for a couple of days, unable to find a straight answer.
I E-mailed this question to GOA today, but I've got a [CENSOR] I've got a better chance (if any) to have it properly responded to in this thread. In fact, it was the sole reason I finally signed up.
I'm going to go ahead and quote myself:
Hey, Goa-peeps.
I know that this is primarly for (supposedly) reporting bugs, but the mailto was generic enough so that I was hoping to have a question regarding registration answered. It's me and a number of friends that was having a question or two, and as usual I've been tasked with sorting the ins-and-outs of the matter.. out.
We've ordered the pre-order package of WAR Collector's Edition, because frankly, we're quite certain WAR will be awesome. But the question that arises now that we're getting close to release is how registration will work for our pre-orders and more importantly, the early launch. After ordering from Webhallen (http://www.webhallen.com/prod.php?id=83093) (SWE Online Retailer) we recieved three codes (by Email).
One for Open Beta Access.
One for playing before the official release.
One for bonus in-game items.
At first, I assumed that these were the codes for the pre-order ONLY (The things anyone that pre-orders can or could get) and that the Collector's Edition codes would come with the package. But how would this work with playing before the official release? The codes we recieved as pre-orders of the Colletor's Edition - are those DISTINCT from those that pre-ordered the regular edition? Because otherwise, we won't be able to choose our "special heads" when we start playing before release - because obviously, we don't have the codes yet; Since we're starting play before the official release, we haven't gotten our Collector's Edition package yet!
So, tl/dr; Are our specific codes TAGGED to identify us as Collector's Edition owners from the moment we enter the codes?
Many thanks in advance,
Varenus von Luckmann. This is, of course, regarding EU Registration.

One more question :
If you do indeed read these boards (and others) then you should have known that the (EU) players were expecting Accounts to be active on the 15th, and Beta Client Down Load some time very soon after that, just like the US players (which seems to now be the 18th for client download).
Therefore, why didn't you post something about this explaining the situation and when we would be expecting accounts/beta downloads ?
I am talking about a War-Europe site post, not a 2 line "We will be on time" on some sub-forum, because at present all you have done by doing nothing is create a lot of fears and worries with (EU) Players that the next few years are going to be the same pain and heartarche we have suffered before.
Just saying "Open beta will start on time, don't worry" isn't reasuring when the (EU) Account are not up, yet the US one's are.
Feedback: The (EU) customers would like more communication from you detailing whats going on. We were told there was a meeting with Mythic, yet we were told nothing of what happened in that meeting. Ofc we (or I) and not expecting a whole report on it, giving classified info away, but a few lines about the CE Closed Beta issue (which we are still waiting on!!!) and that steps had been taken to ensure miss-comunication doesn't happen again, would have been all thats needed.
Basically we feel that are we are bing left in the dark, while we watch the US making progress with the game, the Road-To-War, etc... and being asked to have trust in you. Well trust has to be earned, and so far no one has seen anything that would give reason to trust you.
You need to fix a communication line between GOA and the EU Players and keep them informed on whats going on, instead of getting 1-2 lines of snipit information in some random threads on this forum.
If this is what this thread is about then fine, but seems to me to be a quick FAQ hot fix in PR, which you again have done poorly. To post this up and say "hay we are here to answer your questions" then serveral posts laters say "Ahh but no replies until monday" just (again) gives of the wrong impression of your foresight and lack of good buisness sense. This whole situation as been handled very badly in my eyes, and you will need to really pull your finger out to restore our trust and faith in your abilties.
When I got my CE pre-oder placeholder box several months ago the info inside told me to go to the following address to enter my codes:
http://www.war-europe.com/collectorsedition
when I go there it reroutes me to:
http://www.war-europe.com/#/event/?collectorsedition=1
and I dont ever get a chance to enter my codes.
My question is: What is the proper address I should use to enter my codes?

Defenetly not to be smug or something, but wouldn't it be good to have an official forum, to avoid these misuderstandings from the start? Ok, I know, I've seen things like GOA saying "It will be blue" and the next post being "I hate GOA for making it red", so people will try their hardest to misuderstand no matter what.
I have no problem with GOA, in fact it looks like Mythic is trying their best to undermine GOA sometmes. ;)
As always, more information earlier is the rallying cry to try and keep the hoardes of forums trolls in check, somewhat.
Thanks for doing your best GOA, and the Community Managers are saints for sifting through all those threads on all those forums!

I think that the question that gets asked a lot: Will OB be on time, same time as US?
This question needs a bit of clarification. You have promised that you guys "will be on time". What I mean about the clarification is that:
When will OB client be available for download, because if you make it available to download only day or two before the actual OB start date, then yes you kind of kept your word about open beta starting on time and the same time as US. Most Europeans will not be able to start playing the same time though because they will all be downloading the client when the actual OB date hits.

Hello All
A guildie msn'd me at work about this forum and the fact GOA had posted. So I just spent the last 4 hours reading through all the old posts that had GOA in the search string. Jeez a LOT!
Most of my questions have been covered already in this thread so only have two.
1. The modding in relation to GOA threads appears to be heavily pro-GOA with people asking the same question that are in this thread being castigated and banned by the looks. Now this is not a flame on the mods, they have a job to do I understand that. But they do not appear to understand where the EU players are coming from with regard to GOA. So my question is will you GOA open up your own forum on the official WAR Europe site where your CUSTOMERS can post directly rather than a third party site who may be biased one way or the other.
2. I found a thread on which Mark Jacobs posted
Folks,
It is our intent to ensure that the European players of WAR are not second-class customers in any way, shape or form. That is not optional.
Mark
Folks,
Based on what I've read here I just had a brief chat with the GOA folks about OpenTransit. I've been assured that those problems will not occur (other than the usual disclaimer because of true unexpected technical failures) with WAR.
In terms of Northern Europe having a worse experience than the rest of Europe if that is still a problem when WAR is in beta, GOA will do what is necessary to ensure that is not a problem at launch.
In terms of the opening of betas, are hope is to have the an English language beta for US/Europe right from the beginning and localize content as soon as it is complete in small chunks to allow Europeans who can't participate in the English language beta to participate in a European beta. The key is that we don't want to have to localize the same content three times or more during beta as that will slow down development of the game as well as add substantially to the costs. Besides, when we make our dumb mistakes early on we want to minimize the number of people who see them. :)
In terms of being upfront about things, that is the way I've always been and always will be. You may not like what you hear from me (or from Mythic) at times but it will always be the truth. A good Community is built on trust and communication between its members and in our case, the Community leaders. The last thing I will aloow to happen is that trust to be misused or worse, to be destroyed.
I know nothing I can say will make everyone happy (no shock there) but I would not have done this deal unless I believed it was in the best interest of Mythic and GW. The excitement, interest and involvement of GOA to date has left me feeling rather good about what we will be able to offer to our European players. Things are looking great on all fronts and we are well on our way to a very interesting and exciting Summer.
Mark
Folks,
Let me make one thing clear from the contract:
GOA's level and quality of support must equal or exceed Mythic support
If they don't do that, the deal is off. Now, does that clear things up a bit?
Also, for those that are saying that GOA failed to bring lots of customers to the game, that is total nonsense. At its peak, DAoC subscribers in Europe dwarfed all the competition. Our numbers there (which at the time was a far less robust market than it is today) were better than we expected them to be. If GOA had handled Italy and other territories from the beginning, our numbers would have been even higher.
Again, I'm not saying that GOA was perfect, they weren't, Mythic wasn't perfect either. We both have learned a lot over the last 5 years and we expect to learn even more over the next two. We have contract language that assures that GOA's support and effort will not only be even better than last time but that it will have to be the equal or better than Mythic's support. If that isn't good enough for those that are complaining or worrying, than there is nothing more I or anyone can say that will change your mind. And when that happens, I will stop talking about it because it is pointless.
Mark
So as you can see Mark has given the EU players his personal word that things would be different. I would hope that his word actually means something I know if I give someone my word it means a lot.
My question is then:
Have you GOA been given a formal warning from Mythic that your contract is under review/to be terminated unless you restore parity of service immediately?
thanks

When will the questions here actually be answered?
The only feedback from the GOA I have seen so far is commets on peoples posts, we all got it allready.
I would think the most stressing issues we all want / need to know has been asked allready and I like to skip the whole rechecking this thread X amount of times during the whole weekend.
Where will they be answered, in this post or will there be a sticky of some sorts created?
Sorry for maybe the obvious question, but I am tired digging and searching for info.
Why does the EU EA site have a release date for Open Beta, Headstart and release already when you guys can't answer that question for us?

1. Do you plan to relaunch a new website using the same template as warhammeronline.com?
2. Are you allowed to use the design of warhammeronline.com?
3. Do you think it would be a good idea to use a copy of warhammeronline.com for war-europe.com and have the same content on the website and just add content regarding the european market?
4. Do you think you did a good job on daoc in europe and did you learn from your (daoc) misstakes?
5. Alot of people was unhappy about your services in daoc. What will make you succeed with WAR that most likely will be much bigger and demanding than daoc?
6. Do you think you have delivered services so far that is on par or better than the US market?
7. If the english speaking player base drops low after a while in EU will we be able to get a free move to US or will we end up like the english cluster in daoc?
Thanks!

some of these have probably been asked in this thread, but cba to read through it all.
1) can you still guarantee that EU will have the same basic experience playing WAR as US will?
2) can you guarantuee that the English servers dont have to wait for an 'american to english' translation for new content, or have to wait for translation for the other languages.
3) can you guarantee that the EU servers will have a 24/7 staff looking after them?
4) are there plans to get rid of the flash website, and if so when? if not, why not?
5) are you commited to communicate with the players regularly and inform them asap of changes, server crashes, what's being worked on, etc?
6) will EU ever know what part of our feedback is being handed over to Mythic and what Mythic response was to the feedback?

Questions:
1a) Why does GOA continue to use Flash for its website when it seems the (vocal) majority of the community would rather they didnt, and a proportion of the community continue to have problems with the flash based website?
(or put another way)
1b) What are your reasons for choosing to use Flash for the EU website instead of something more along the lines of the US site?
2) Will the EU servers have Game Masters and CSRs online (in-game)?
3) Will the EU site have a Realm War section like the US or will the US version cover EU servers?
4) Will XML feeds be available for guild websites and other community websites to pull guild and campaign data from?
5) Will support be handled through the EA support website or directly through GOA's war-europe site?
6) My feeling over recent months has been that the EU is starting to fall behind the US in terms of commitment and importance. Is this something that GOA / Mythic acknowledge and intend to address?
7) Will WAR be great in the EU? (I know the answer to this one :p)

Will you please take a good, long look at your website?
Currently, it seems there's a vast majority that cannot get it to load correctly, compared to the small minority that isn't experiencing any problems..
As an example: I can't even change my account details due to a bug that keeps telling me I'm not logged in, even though I am.
Also, could you consider to throw the entire concept of a flash website out the door?
Solid, static, -fully operational- HTML would be greatly appreciated I'm sure.

I'm sorry if this seems particularly negative but I think it is incredibly telling regarding GOA's handling of communication with the community.
My question is, why would you post this announcement on Warhammer Alliance's forum at 5:11pm on a Friday when your English Language Community Manager for the EU is going to be away all weekend?
You're apparently deliberately (or thoughtlessly, which is worse) leaving an already frustrated community to watch this thread grow for over 60 hours with no response.
Why would you do that?

This idea of letting us ask you questions is great, but I can’t believe it’s even necessary. Just browse the forums for like 10 minutes and you can find several posts expressing the same concerns as these. There’s nothing new on here, that IAN guy could have told you all this a week ago. It all boils down to 3 simple questions.
1) Why is the website empty and rubbish?
2) What the hell is going on with Open Beta? The least you could do is post to say it will be another week and we can all stop F5'ing the forums for news.
3) Given you’re behind the US with signups/download, will you catch up in time for release?

Its becoming clear to me that in thier current state, GOA will not be able to provide the level of customer service required to support such a huge game as WAR.
This very topic itself has raised a question in my mind:
1) How are you going to ensure that the community gets its information AT THE WEEKEND.
2) What steps are you taking to ensure the community is informed.
3) You say you will provide an equal service to mythic - can you 100% guarentee all patches, upgrades and expansions will go as smoothly as mythics, or will the situation continue as it is now?
Its not good enough saying "we don't work weekends" - there have been FIFTEEN mythic posts since Iain replied to this one, and last time i checked it was the weekend in the states too. I really hope we get some answers soon, because i'm loosing faith quite frankly.

I'm quite shure I will, I won't be there for the release but eventually I am.
As it is now the account I earlier created at the european site is inaccessible. (I have sent emails concerning this.) And as the email is registrered I can not create another account.
http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54411
The question(s) is.
When I later get this game.
Will I be able to register it at the european site, using the same email?

I thought the whole reason they moved to Ireland was to get away from France's retarded labour laws.
Hardware hasnt moved only the community managers / gm's afaik.
So if they can remote desktop to provide support surely Mythic can do the same ?
It would make cancelling GOA's contract a viable option until they can find a competent EU partner maybe ?

Need to remember also the French labour laws. The server farm is in Lille France. They took 3 days this week migrating which burned up all the available overtime so they have no support available for the weekend. As any closed beta tester will affirm.
The question is: Is the new servers located in France or Ireland (I've seen conflicting information about this)?

Why does the EU EA site have a release date for Open Beta, Headstart and release already when you guys can't answer that question for us?
Source;http://eastore.ea.com/DRHM/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayProductDetailsPage&SiteID=eaemea&Locale=en_GB&Env=BASE&productID=106719600
Status: Pre-Release Beta Access: 07/09/08
Live Headstart: 15/09/08
Full release: 18/09/08;
It's actually the EA store (for Europe) not only that they are advertising this for SE pre-orderpurchasers. Have they got it wrong? Do EA have some sort of arrangement outside of GOA's European publishing deal?
Pressing questions for me who are official partners and what is the deal for SE pre-orders. Need to know that post haste. Most of the other questions posted here are of equal concern but less pressing (to me) in nature.
EDIT: Thanks for giving this some attention. I guess you are going to have a busy day Monday.

This question is about the UK region!
1. There seems to be total confusion between the UK retailers in the UK. Can you state which vendors will be offering Pre Order boxes, which include hopefully Open beta access and items?
2. HMV are your distributor in the UK, please tell me why they are no longer offering the pre order box?

Some people need to read posts...
Thats half the problem fugazi. If Mythic can provide customer service and answers over the weekends, I want to know why GOA cannot, and what they plan to change to ensure this doesnt continue once the game has launched.
Alls i'm seeing is lots of excuses and zero solutions.
Mythic provide a beta center, GOA give the excuse that they have not had enough time to set thiers up
Mythic update thier website often with relevant information, GOA's website vanishes for 2 days, and when it comes back its broken for a good number of people.
Mythic spend time at weekends answering questions on this very forum, GOA state quite clearly no one will be around at the weekend to help.
Mythic Post 15 times on this site in 1 day, GOA post twice and then vanish
Mythic provide early beta access to CE pre orders, and even SE pre-orders, GOA's lack of communication has left the EU community doubting whether the Beta will even happen!
We were promised equal levels of service, but it is becoming quite obvious Mythic and GOA are working to different time schedules, which is resulting in a poorer quality of service for us in the EU.
Now fair enough, you may use the argument that Mythic are plowing ahead offering MORE than you were aware of, but why should you be able to use that as an excuse? If Mythic are doing such a great job that they are capable of providing EXTRAS, why are GOA unable to keep up?

This would be becouse well mark jacobs is one of the major people that update the US customers and he, well knows what he can and cant say. There the updaters here like Iain i would guess will need to confirm and see what information they are allowed to disclose (as for why he needs to wait for Monday).
After the game is launched, i would ofc like to see Content Updates at the same time as the US and also patching on the same day as the US. Also a site that will inform us on any maintenance going on with the servers and the realm status.
I know that most of what id like to see is dependant on the communication with Mythic and GOA.
Other then that all the questions that i would like to ask have been stated in the last 7-8 pages,
* Will the OB have a gobal start, or is the US going to get a longer OB?
(understand that this cant really be answered)
* What is the status on the installation of the new servers?
* ETA on the account manager?
* Has there been anymore talks on if the EU CE peeps will get any extra's like the US? I would take it that the CB access is abit late but how about a preview weekend?
* Why dont you use the war eu site to post updates on how things are going in ur camp?

QFE.
Excellent points made here.
My question is;
Can you understand where the community is coming from? Why we are so upset? Do you think it is acceptable to post up a news article with a blatent spelling mistake (obviously not proof read) and, even after being mocked openly and frequently, not correct it?
Do you not feel this presents the image that you not only don't monitor fan sites but also are incapable of making even the most minor of changes in a timely fashion?
Maintenance questions:
Is there going to be daily/weekly server reboots?
When major patches is going to be released - will we be able to preload them (WoW style)
Will there be a server status page (Online/Offline)
Will there be a "realm" population page (Slim, medium, full)

I see a lot of confusion here. To help out I've tried to contact GOA, asking them for an interview on UpToWar.com where they could react to the confusion of a lot of people around here - no response has been given and thus we're taking this chance to ask GOA "why?".
Thanks.

Totally agree with this, I would certainly like these questions answered. Why are there no concrete answers being given by GOA? Even if it is simply admitting that things are not going as planned, at least that give us something to work from, rather than simply being kept in the dark.

I'd like to know how GOA intend to provide the same level of communication between themselves and the EU as the US enjoys between Mythic and fans? How is it that people like MJ are very much in the loop and able to give frank and prompt responses to issues while the EU community managers seem to be as 'in the dark' as the rest of us?
I's also like to ask if GOA intend to move to an HTML webste and do away with the flash, and if not why not?

After having some horrible experiences with Blizzard EU. Telia and Vivendi my questsions are:
1. Is there going to be a server status page with accurate data and good communication if a server goes down.
2. Will there be phone support for accounts or will it be email only?
3. Where are the servers located and will the net infrastructer be able to cope with the network traffic?
4. Will there be 24/7 support in game?
5. Will there be a central patch server or will patches be peer to peer.

Yeah I sometimes get the feeling that Iain is only being vague with us because he's not been given detailed information by the higher ups. Luckily with MJ being GM of Mythic and lead designer he's in a perfect position to explain what's going on.

Some of my questions are identical with previous posters, some are not.
1) What would be a proper first post by a Community Manager if, lets pretend, the servers have been down for 36 hours without a word from anyone.
2) How are you going to ensure that the community gets its information over weekends or after office hours.
3) What steps are you taking to ensure the community is kept up to date with information? - Is having to read third party forums a part of the information process?
4) How much extra $$ will I have to pay per month for GOA to hire Sanya Thomas to help out? =)
5) Will you pay Magnus and Ian a little more money so they can feel uber appreciated and thus having an easier time dealing with us whinery gamers.

1) I'm worried about patch delays. by this i mean im worried that america will get patches days or up to a week before we get patches. make me feel better about this and a pot noodle will be sent to GOA.
2) Whats the beef with all this "us not getting beta" stuff? we are not feelin the love. and seeing as we are a fookin huge market i think mythic and goa should hook us up or they are gonna look like massive tallywhackers.
3) The home site for us euros is a bit naff love.sort it aaaaht (cockney rambler version of the word "out") yanks one is sexy. hook us up or ill fist you reet hard. up your hoop

I've only read the first page of questions, so apologies if what I'm to ask about has been asked a lot.
Will the European WAR website be toned down or Flash altogether removed? I find the WAR-europe site to be very sluggish (on Firefox), so hence my question.
My questions have pretty much been asked in this topic, I'm hoping for a quick responce from one of the GOA Community Managers. I think they can understand how excited we are about Warhammer, the Open Beta and its live release, so hopefully we'll get some answers tomorrow concerning the open beta in europe.

Here are the questions I can answer straight away, I'll be back later with answers to more as I get them.
I heard that it was possible to preorder the Standard Edition of Warhammer Online from you on the 28th of August and recieve the headstart. Is this true? If so are there any other benefits or is it just the headstart?
The EU pre-order for the standard edition does indeed begin on the 28th. We'll be announcing the full details officially on the website on that date along with the pre-order partners etc. At the moment the plan is that this pre-order will receive the headstart as well as ingame bonus items.
Will EU get the same amount of time in open beta as the us?
Yes.
Why is the Q&A section of the site, so dated and unclear about the simple basicly things?
The FAQ has just been updated and the new details will be published early this week. It's something that hasn't been a priority for us as we've been busy getting everything else done. Now that we have some definite information to update a lot of the 'to be announced' answers in there, we've taken the opportunity to overhaul it. Most of those answers have only been announced within the past few days.
If you have a pre-order box for the CE (with codes and all) the box says you pre-ordered the CE. Can you confirm that I will get my CE?
This is how we designed the program with our distribution partners (EA Europe). EA Europe briefed all the retailers on how it would work and that is the way they should be treating it - a CE pre-order pack should guarantee you a CE box. I can't guarantee however that an individual store will honour that as we can't be responsible for stores briefing their staff properly. Any queries about how a particular retailer will be dealing with your pre-order should really be directed to the store.
Basically EA Europe explained it as clearly as possible to the retailers but the stores are responsible for making sure that their staff are carrying it out properly. It isn't a complicated system but the more people that are involved, the more possibility there is for misunderstandings or poor communication.
Are there any strings attached to the open beta meing that i wont get in thought i have a box telling me i will get the beta, the head start and the items ?
No, as long as you have an open beta account and a valid code we won't be filtering the applications at all.
When can we expect a EU Herald?
There won't be one specifically. Our www.war-europe.com (http://www.war-europe.com/) site combines the features of the Herald and the marketing site. All the community news and info will be available on the one EU site.
Will GOA publish a list of trusted partners, like they did with the CE, who will sell the SE with guaranteed live game head start/open beta/other cool stuff?
Yes, as I said above, this will be announced on or just before the 28th when the SE pre-order program opens.

I speak for all of us here when we're thankful that you're atleast trying IanC, but by doing what you've just done and COMPLETELY avoiding any of the remotely difficult questions you've just alienated us yet another notch.
All we're looking for is some comforting and you've just proven you're not even capable of doing that.
Please, get somebody down here who can answer our tough questions, can't you see that your company is severely being questioned here? And its not just the flamers and whiners like myself, its by the vast majority.
I can't believe you've returned here and just answered all of the easy questions which most of us could probably have guessed the answer correctly.
I'm sincerely sorry to the mods for doing this on your forums, but this is beyound a joke.
My question as a follow on to that is quite simply; do you feel this situation will continue after launch or do you feel general opinion of GOA will pick up?

Ok, here's how this will work, this is a Q&A thread, you ask questions and either Magnus or I will get you an answer. If it's possible for us to give you an immediate answer then we will, if we don't have an answer to a question then we'll get you one. I won't be able to respond to this thread much over the weekend as I'll have sporadic net access and, of course I won't be able to get answers out of anyone until Monday when people are back in the office so there won't be a lot of activity from me here until next week......
Maybe you should calm down a tad Bad_Boy. He said he couldnt get alot of the answers till this week but yet you want to flame away.
Bad_Boy
08-17-2008, 08:50 PM
Thanking somebody to make the effort to try to help us out is not flaming in my opinion - if it is in yours, thats fair enough.
But everyone here is more than a little irate and I'm trying to point out that this thread on the surface appears to be almost designed for people to vent their questions about the current situation - and I'd say atleast 75% of the questions have been directed towards our recent treatmeant.
Also as I mentioned, we want comforting. We're very fragile at the moment and we just want some sort of reassurance - or alteast I do and hes not even given the slightest hint at supplying us with answers to the questions everyones been asking and it appears that hes just answering the easy ones.
But, as Garthik says, this isnt a discussion thread, this is a Q&A thread, and I don't see a question in your post. Just felt I should justify myself.

As there seems to be some confusion about CE pre orders. I already read somewhere that you can't garuanty that all pre orders will be receive their CE edition as you cannot take responsibility for retailers actions.
1. Will you at least guarantee that all retailers will be suplied according to the amount of pre orders sold?
2. When will we be able to order our pre ordered CE?
3. What will you do if some retailers will not honour their pre order?
4. WHo are your official Dutch partners I see none on the site (personally I've pre ordered at Bol.com and have a pre order box with codes)?

But the address where it tells me I can enter the codes (http://www.war-europe.com/collectorsedition) only redirects me to the very old marketing info on your site (http://www.war-europe.com/#/event/?collectorsedition=1). I got to say I agree with Bad_Boy.
These answers has in my opinion, has vaguely been answered throughout other threads and some of them are such easy questions, with easy almost self-explaining answers.
GOA's representatives should be able and willing to answer the tad more complex and important questions.
If we had equal treatment the majority of EU CE pre-orderers would be in CB.
If we had equal treatment we would have an awesome Warhammer Online website.
If we had equal treatment we would have access to the Preview Weekend.
If we had equal treatment we would receive exciting news updates, instead we are left in the dark.I like these statements. Please answer them.
The majority of the questions asked here are about the website, the OB and the lack of proper information (for EU community).
About the website.. It is BAD! The full flash war-europe site is outdated, not user-friendly and the design is no eye-candy. If I combine this with the lack of information, I get the impression "this is not the WAR I was looking forward to".
I RARELY go to War-europe for news/information, I either got here or to Warhammeronline.com. It's sooo little teasing and "good" news coming from you guys.
The Open Beta.. You must be able to give us a date for which we can expect to process our codes, and download the client? I trust that GOA will launch the OB at the same time as Mythic, so we're not asking for the OB start date. Only the date for the preparation to take effect!
*EDIT* Also, why does US player get so much more treats? Like additional time in HS, Preview Weekend, and stuff like Road-to-War?
Anyway, it's nice to have this thread! You should take some of the things talked about here, and post it on the War-europe site!

Here are the questions I can answer straight away, I'll be back later with answers to more as I get them.
I heard that it was possible to preorder the Standard Edition of Warhammer Online from you on the 28th of August and recieve the headstart. Is this true? If so are there any other benefits or is it just the headstart?<blockquote>The EU pre-order for the standard edition does indeed begin on the 28th. We'll be announcing the full details officially on the website on that date along with the pre-order partners etc. At the moment the plan is that this pre-order will receive the headstart as well as ingame bonus items.
I would like to point you at the EAStore for UK and Europe. The Warhammer online SE preorder is online and being sold. (Likewise Direct2Drive). http://eastore.ea.com/DRHM/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayProductDetailsPage&SiteID=eaemea&Locale=en_GB&Env=BASE&productID=106719600 This is does not appear to be inline with your statement that SE PreOder will start on 28/Aug.

When and where can we download the OB cleint?
Mallas
08-18-2008, 01:16 AM
Are we going to be able to download the client at least a few days before the Open Beta goes live?
You have answered "Yes" to the EU starting OB on the same day but do not include any sort of explanation about when we can actually start downloading the client.
How can you not have this information already?
About the website: It stated that it would be down until the end of August the 13th, yet it was not up until the following day, August the 14th. Why was there no word or explanation OR apology?
I do not understand how you can justify telling the EU community not to be negative when GOA is the source of that negativity. If you want us to be positive then we need some positivity coming from GOA first.

Will EU get the same amount of time in open beta as the us?Yes.
Are there any strings attached to the open beta meing that i wont get in thought i have a box telling me i will get the beta, the head start and the items ?No, as long as you have an open beta account and a valid code we won't be filtering the applications at all.
I dont get it, you just answered questions that we already knew the answers too. Can you please answer some questiosn that we actually want to know the answers to.
Like when we will be able to dl open beta, when will we hhave an account managed, when will you get rid of your current rubbish flash site and get a better one, will we get a preview weekend?
Thanks.
I'd like to point out that the EU site doesn't work for me in Firefox 3, I just get a black screen where the menu and content should be + a background. I always have to open the site in Opera. And to the people expecting more answers, he did say he'd come back to us with more answers to the questions, have a little more patience :)

This whole topic is getting me confused.
Me living in the Netherlands i bought the pre-order box online containing 3 codes. it says Guaranteed Open beta acces.
But now i'm reading in this topic that maybe i'm not getting open beta acces at all meaning i just buyed a stupid piece of paper.
I did what my box told me and did go to the site it said only to find i couldn't do anything. I searched your complete site not finding a clue what i needed to do. I had to go to forums (unofficial ones) to find out that beta wasn't yet active.
So my question here is what exactly is this pre-order box worth now? Open beta will start around 28 august (US can download it starting from today i read somwhere)

Just in-case it's easier to spot, I've combined my questions into one post here:
Question 1: Now that it's clear that WAR won't have "official" forums per se, how do you think community management will work and do you think that electing one or two community managers for the largest unofficial forums will work smoothly?
Question 2: How are you going to ensure that the community gets its information on weekends, e.g. is GOA going to alter its policy of working on weekends?
Question 3: What steps are you taking to ensure that the EU community is as informed as the US/North American community?
Question 4: You say you will provide an equal service to Mythic Entertainment - can you guarentee that all patches, upgrades and expansions will go as smoothly as Mythic's?

I an following this thread al weekend now and i am not sure what to think of it.....
Let me see at loud THAT I REALLY WANNA PLAY WAR OB ASAP.......and would really like to have some answers.
As a dutch player i already payed 10 euro's just to get "guaranteed open beta" and HS.....
so far it looks like this deal went sour...
On the other hand it seems al our effort to gather questions doen't pay off as we get a really vague replay form GOA on stuf we already know.
The statement that they don't work on weekends really bothered me....cause i work through the weekdays and wanne play on the weekends so how are they gonna help us if we got problems during the weekends ??
So far GOA hasn't done very little too convince me everything wil be fine....
I would like to know if posting questions here will really help or that we should aim our post at mythic so they can put some pressure on their partner.

Regarding to Question 2 I might hope that we can expect at least Ingame GM support in weekends?!! That is pretty much standard these days, as weekends are when most people play!
If GOA isn't going to provide support in weekends, then it's a NO Deal for me already to ditch this game instantly.

If you bought the pre-order box, and have your 3 codes, you WILL get to play the open beta. GOA has guaranteed this.
The account manage pages for Europe has yet been opened. Hopefully they will be soon, and we can download the client!
North American players have indead gotten their accounts and client, but like us, they can not yet play.
*EDIT* Have you recived your codes or a pre-order box like I've got, but you're not sure how to aquire the Collectors Edition? Then maybe you should contact the retailer/merchant and ask them? If you have any proof that you've pre-ordered the CE, then they should be able to help you?;)

thanks for clearing this up. And i apologise for my following questions as i appreciate they've been asked frequently.
When they open beta registration i can input my codes?
When i've input my codes at some point i'll be able to download and play?
At what stage do i then buy the actual game to play my head start?

When they open up the beta centre you'll be able to enter your codes. They will then announce a start date (possibly before the beta centre goes live as they will be announcing OB start date alongside Mythic). You will be able to carry on from OB (without your OB characters of course) into Headstart and release with just your Headstart code. You will have a grace period of an undetermined length before you have to put the code from your release box in to carry on. Just incase some online shops don't get it to you on release day etc.
At least that's how i've understood it to work.

I agree! the questions or answers are already known to us. Why can`t lainC answer the questions about the preview weekend and how a lot NA CE holders have got into CB and we in Europe have not?
We already know about OB and when it will start? what we want to know is when or if we are going to get the same treatment as those in NA..ie CE CB admittance and a preview weekend.
You keep going round in circles but tell us nothing? these question need to be answer because as it stands now, we in Europe are getting second rate citizen service.

I have had my pre-order for the standard edition with Game.co.uk since march.
I had a collectors edition ordered from them first but the six monthly row with EA got them removed from the CE distributors list.
My question is, considering that EA and GAME have a long running and bitter feud over pricing, is GAME (Europe's largest game retailer) going to be yet again ignored over being an official partner due to the feud they have with EA?

Jeez guy's, he's not only answering questions we knew the answers to, he's only answering questions he know's the answer's to. Even the other questions, presuming a nine o clock start time, he's been at work 2 and a half hours, and is probably running around fighting management and marketing to get the answers to those questions and be allowed to release them. that's probably going to take all day and most of tomorrow on it's own.
Be a little patient. Although I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out Iain won't be allowed to answer a lot of the more specific questions... *shakes head*

Like everybody I am aware Iain has a tough job and has to take a lot of the flack as he is the public face to the community.
Sorry, but I do feel GOA is just making noises in an attempt to calm the community as opposed to giving us definitive answers.
There have been loads of questions posted in the past few days but here we are we again just getting generalist "vague" answers. There have been some very explicit questions asked and none of them have been answered.
We are always promised jam tomorrow but nothing ever happens.
Again, ages back "we are meeting with Mythic to discuss CB" was a thread raised by Iain but still that has not been given an update.
The biggest PR excercise you guys at GOA can do is start giving us dates, and something which you should be in control is to publish when we will have a working account management page? Soon doesnt cut it.
This is an opportunity that either you are unable to meet or do not have the controlled planning in place as you claim to make this a reality.
If there are Project Managers working as you claim behind the scenes then this information will be at hand so prove it.
Words are cheap otherwise!!!
** My comments are centred at GOA overall.. Iain is just in the firing line which is unfair as other GOA execs should step up and face the heat. Hell, if Mark Jacobs can post in forums whats the stop somebody from GOA doing the same.

As always thanks for the initial responses, Iain good to see GOA ramping up the customer service side of things. I think there is a real opportunity here for improving the relationship (from both sides, provided people calm down a little and give you guys the space to do your thing).
I'd like to point out that the EU site doesn't work for me in Firefox 3, I just get a black screen where the menu and content should be + a background. I always have to open the site in Opera. And to the people expecting more answers, he did say he'd come back to us with more answers to the questions, have a little more patience :)
Since the last update I am occasionally getting that too, I am also using Firefox 3. It isn't all the time but it wasn't there before. I noticed the password problem is back too, where it times you out after a period of time but does NOT remember your password even though you have clicked the remember password option.
Add to the fact it uses flash and the inherent problems that brings, such as not having the ability to right click and open an area in a new tab (it sometimes comes up with open in a new Window now, which is new since the last update) I would really like to see the site fully reviewed.
So my follow up question to my other question about an EU Road to War is: In light of the recent commentory and experiences from the users, will you be reviewing your web site before launch, especially your use of flash and do you carry out full integration testing against all popular browsers, including Firefox 3, including for the elements outlined above?
I've been a regular visitor here on the site as the release dates for WAR comes closer and because of that i've also followed the threads and posts from GOA and the confusion between them and Mythic. Now... i know EA has a big hand in this game when it comes to release dates etc. So i am wondering why the EA store already has the following dates;
Status: Pre-Release Beta Access: 07/09/08
Live Headstart: 15/09/08
Full release: 18/09/08
Is this because EA is wrong, because GOA had a date for EU release but doesn't want to give it up in fear of the dates changing and there HQ getting stormed by angry fans or what? To me it seemed weird putting out a statement to the EU community saying that GOA would do everything in its power to answer our questions but then i have to get beta access dates from the EA store.
Any clarification on this would be apreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Dir.

This never will happend. I'm from Spain and we have only one community forum. As the community is still small, there are few information and almost none questions in Open Community Thread. There isn't a Dutch localisation and Community forum
There isn't a Norwegian localisation and Community forum
You know why? Because we bothered to LEARN english at school and take effort to join a more international English Community.
I still don't understand all the localisation demands, like German, French, Spanish, etc.
It only causes problems and delays with patches, communication and with support.
I see this happen in so many good MMO's to date and it only hurts the game and community itself.

There's always going to be a large market for German and French localisations. It all comes down to cost effectiveness. If they can make a profit and large sales they'll localise it (generally speaking).
Guys, i know everyone is really annoyed with the lack of useful responses from Iain, but like one or two others have said, he can't just answer every question right now. There are several reasons no doubt.
He doesn't know the answer
He knows it, but cant be sure it wont change
He simply isn't authorised to give the answer
Hopefully hes waiting for the NDA to drop today so we can all be distracted by shinney new information.
Now, saying that, i think GOA should have sent down someone with higher power than Iain to answer these questions, the poor guy is already taking so much flack and anger over GOAs stupid project plans (SE OB anyone? fools.. *shakes head*) But lets just atleast give him until the end of the working day to start getting more useful answers back to us. We don't know whats going on for him right now, there might be important things going on behind the scenes. Soo.. saying that. Maybe we should all chillax, get on with the day, and start crossing fingers, toes, arms, legs and other things that can be crossed in the hopes that GOA pulls this one off, and doesn't fail once again.
Now my question i really want answering.
What was GOA thinking when they decided to shaft the EU players who pre-order the game, by making them compete with people who haven't or wont Pre-order the game? That seems like a slap in the face to me, when you look over at the NA SE Preorder situation. Was there a general reason you wanted to annoy so many players, or did you actually think you was making a good choice? Which ever answer it is, will you be looking into changing this into a more 'Equal Treatment' state before the 28th of August? If not, will you be publicly stateing the removal of your 'Equal Treatment' claims, so they can no longer be broken?
Best wishes to everyone! And happy monday to all.

war-europe.com combines marketing and herald features you say? From a marketing point of view I find it ... odd to not make communication to a living long standing community a priority. I find it very hard 'just' to ask questions.
Would you consider re-evaluating your communication to the community up to this point and not treat us as the average, ignorant, easily fooled consumer?
Question; can we expect real communication from GOA?
Question; would it not be better to have no European website as opposed to a malfunctioning one? (this is a serious question, not one to whine/flame, from a marketing p.o.v. it does not make a good impression)

Mythic have been giving regular updates to their customer base, and I’m hopeful they can help us.
I view GOA as a kind of middle man, every question we ask they have to confirm with you so it’s about time the EU addressed you directly.
We have tried discussing these issues with GOA over the past few weeks, and we get little to no replies, let alone actual facts.
The Problem
When Mythic announced that GOA would run WAR in the EU, the response (in my experience) was bad. The EU had a terrible experience with Dark Age of Camelot, and is fearful of history repeating itself.
Mythic eased these fears on multiple occasions by stating GOA must provide an equal or BETTER quality of service, or they risked the axe. Given that, my questions are these:
Are Mythic aware of the current feelings towards GOA from the EU customer base?
Can you clarify what you meant by equal quality of service? Is it all encompassing (i.e. the level of communication), or merely a reference to something technical such as server stability?
Do Mythic feel GOA are providing an equal level of service thus far?
If not, what promises do we have the situation will improve once the game has been released?
Why was the decision made to represent WAR as two joined companies rather than one single entity?
Does Mythic feel it’s too soon to comment on GOA's level of service, and are you confident they can live up to your expectations?
Please let me know if you think this is too much too soon, but I think allot of the EU community is feeling despondent at the moment, and are simply desperate for answers we are not getting.
Cheers

[/indent]Does this mean then, that the pre-order of Standard Edition's of the game, will not be recieving open beta access? If this is the case, please could you explain why this is so?
Faithstalker
Further more would you explain why your "European Distribution Partner" EA are offering open beta access if you purchase directly from there web store. Have they messed up? (Direct2Drive UK also for that matter). Are there in fact two distribution chains? One serviced by EA & one serviced by Goa, one getting 'equal' treatment and one getting "more equal" treatment. Smacks of Orwell's animal farm to me.
One of the key things that will determine whether a UK re-seller (and so Goa) get my business or whether another territory does is securing a place in OB. Sadly the 28th is to late for me to 'hope' we actually get any sort of equality.
Thanks for your time anyway

I have some questions:
1. Do GOA feel that this 'idea'/thread is actually helping address the communites concerns effectivly? If so how?
2. Is the frankly embaressing state of the EU website a staffing issue, i.e. Are GOA focusing heavily on making sure server infrastructure is in place and working and simply haven't committed the numbers or time and effort Mythic have to producing a useful website?
3. Will the 'non' torrent-based Open beta client d/l MBJ eluded to in another post be available to EU customers also? If not, why not?

I seen the reply he made on another "community" site its a simple copy and paste job.
no answers here ugh stall tactics.

The EA store : http://eastore.ea.com/DRHM/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayProductDetailsPage&SiteID=eaemea&Locale=en_GB&Env=BASE&productID=106719600
On the EA store it says the following:
Status: Pre-Release Beta Access: 07/09/08
Live Headstart: 15/09/08
Full release: 18/09/08;
So are we expecting OB on 07/09/08? If Mythic decides to throw it out sooner than this without warning GoA will you be prepared to launch it or are the EU stuck with being left in the dirt like we are now?
Well i've just saw the feature on www.massively.com (http://www.massively.com) about the open beta date being confirmed;
Status: Pre-Release Beta Access: 07/09/08
Live Headstart: 15/09/08
Full release: 18/09/08
It's funny that this information had been on the EA UK store for quiete sometime now and still we don't seem to get answers on that from GOA, instead we get them from a retailer.. granted it's EA, but this could have been told to us in here a good 4-5 days ago.
So basicly these dates are correct, we are to see Open Beta in the EU at 07/09 because GOA has already confirmed that the OB release would be the same as the US?
Now about that closed beta testing the americans are doing atm... i'd like some kind of answer on that and with me many others. Are you working on getting us in? Is it still a posibility and if it's not, just tell your community!
Also a simple yes or no to what i wrote about the EA UK store would be nice aswell.
Will EU get the same amount of time in closed beta as the US?

It seems like they only answer the easy questions we already knew the answers too.
So basically we are ignored and left in the dark again!
How hard can it be to answer the REAL pressing questions that have been asked in a topic started by YOU? GOA!
- Why do we EU have to live with a amateuristic crappy, non-functional and outdated website?
- Why aren't we equaly treated like the NA customers? Especially when it comes to CE Pre-orders?
- When will we be actually updated about the status of CB, OB, Preview Weekend, Early Access? As we are seriously concerned sertain info DOES seem to be available on the EA EU website!
- Can we expect Customer Support in the weekends?
- Is communication going to be improved between Mythic and GOA? Especially when it comes to news, updates and patches!

First of all, Thanks Ian for answering some questions, but the more important ones remain unanswered:
1.) Why was Flash chosen for the war-europe site? It's an obviously bad choice if GoA listens to the community.
2.) The CB issue, USA gets into the CB, EU doesn't. What will be done about it. "We are looking into a solution" doesn't work.
3.) When will the site be updated as much as the US?
4.) Why is there such a huge difference between US and EU?

Not to insult anyone, but!
I am from Holland and now live in Norway.
Jer
We study english at school too but some learning it, some don't. Unfortunatelly, there are many people who don't learning it enough. Anyway, that's not what we are talking in this thread.
You are right about localizations (communication, support, etc), but if they release them, they must provide a good support too. This is what EU complain because it's a fact.
I can say that all complains about EU version can be bigger in non-english communities like spanish one. That's because, I think, the decisions will be EA Mythic->GOA EU (english)->GOA EU (others).

What I think we should do now, is to wait.. The same basic questions are being asked over and over again, just in different forms!
If I were Iain or any of the other GOA's, I would probably give up reading 11 pages of questions and long exposition of their handling of W.A.R.
What one should do, is to sum up the most frequently and straight-forward questions, and post them. And no other post until GOA's representatives replied to that single post.

That's an easy one to answer. Mythic has engaged their user community from the beginning whereas GOA thought they could make some easy money without any effort.
They've fumbled so badly they've had to create this thread and then pretty much abandoned it...

Here's my jab at some of the important questions
How does GoA feel about the following statement?
"If we had equal treatment the majority of EU CE pre-orderers would be in CB.
If we had equal treatment we would have an awesome Warhammer Online website.
If we had equal treatment we would have access to the Preview Weekend.
If we had equal treatment we would receive exciting news updates, instead we are left in the dark."
Does GoA feel the statement is correct? If so how do they intend to fix it?
Many within the EU community feels that the WAR EU website is poor and would prefer a non-flash site or even a copy paste of the WAR NA site. Why are these people being ignored?
When will we be able to download the open beta client?
When will the accounts page be available?
The US players can check renown rankings and other info to do with how the war is going on each server, WILL this be available for EU players either on your website or on the US Herald site?

I've just read the news about the OB from massively, which states that NA OB starts on sept 7th, so does that mean that the EU OB starts on sept 7th or are we being left in the dirt again? forgive me for my scepticism but so far the service from GOA has been far from what you could call satisfactory, and the answers we were promised a few days ago have yet to be answered. I've been following this game since for 2 years now, and so far the only disapointment has the been the complete lack of service by GOA. My 2 cents.

I think allot of players forget this part you wrote; For the rest I need to either get an answer from above or get a green light to post the details. I can understand you don't have the power to simply answer every question as you feel free.
Could you give us a lil overview of the questions you've send up for answering? I hope it includes the issue with the beta dates being released for NA (and thus for us?) early by EA and are now at last confirmed dates for them (the us) and not yet for europe, besides your word that they in fact will be at the same time.

I thought this was the reason for the simple answers first.
BUT
This is what is annoying me also, they posted this thread on Friday evening. They KNEW the thread would be a burning pit of angry Euro people, and yet they still let it simmer all over the weekend, knowing full well we would be wanting answers today, and they knew they couldn't provide them..
It would have made more sense to do it today. So not amused at all with them right now. However i can understand that Iain has to get clarification so he doesn't give us false info, so bravo to him.
But SERIOUSLY, that leaves the EU people 10 days, 7 working days, to get the account codes entered, the game downloaded, and everything sorted for beta.
So my new question. Does GOA actually realise that they are leaving the EU people on a far shorter time range than the NA people?
Also, is there a way we can change GOAs mind about not giving SE pre-order instant access to beta, like the NA people? Because this fact is really starting to get on my nerves, and i am sure there are other people like me, who has very, very few nerves left when dealing with GOA right now.
Thanks for the update though Iain, even if its not got anything we want to hear, again.

How many days difference will there be between EU players amount of time in closed beta compared to the US?
When is the scheduled date for EU CE players to enter closed beta? Or are we not participating in this at all anymore?
How can different times in closed beta between the EU and the US be perceived as equal?

So we're told but then why would it state that NA OB starts on sept 7th rather than OB starts sept 7th? I remember Mark Jacobs stating that we would recieve equal treatment, yet the NA CE buyers have had access to CB and yet we dont even have a beta center up and running, which to me doesnt really seem equal.

I'll try to be the voice of reason for a moment.
I'm just wondering how many of you have been anywhere close to working in a company and realise the amount of time and effort it can take to get some simple answers to some relativly simple question from colleagues and managers. Of course it's very important to you but they have stuf that's very important to them and you just end up on the bottem of the pile of work (if they are not on hollidays that is). If we have answers to the difficult questions by Wednesday IainC did a great job. But to be honest I'd expect them any time this week.
I'll be patient for now. I hope we do receive some attention on a daily basis the biggest mistake made by any company is a lack of communication.

Which GoA seems to undertaking a great deal of. Poor communication with both Mythic AND their customers.

So, it looks like some answers to the questions we have been asking can be found here:

Again, it wasn't GOA but EA that released this information today. I'm pretty sure GOA knew about it, hence the reason they kept telling us not to worry, but I am slightly concerned about the claims that they didn't have the "authoratah!" to tell us, in person, that both the release dates and open beta dates have been announced, or even give us a link for it.
Communication breakdown only occurs when said communication is present in the first place. No communication is what we have, as many others have already pointed out, they get all their information from other sites not related to GOA. It would be best if they didn't have a website and instead Mythic handled all our accounts and just let GOA run the servers.
My question therefore is: Would such a consolidation of accounts be something we should expect?
The questions regarding the EU Website, support during weekends, and the various other GOA-related questions are still outstanding however.

With respect, GOA whilst big, are far from the largest company going. Some of us work for much larger companies, and I can tell you straight up, that if my ENTIRE client base was up in arms baying for our blood, I wouldn’t NEED to put pressure on my boss's to get the answers I need, they'd be throwing them at me in an effort to appease the customer.
The problem with GOA is they are not a pro-active company. They are reactive in that they spend all day fighting fires instead of making better plans for the future to avoid disasters like this in the first place. That is something quite fundamental, and it isn’t going to change over night I’m sorry to say :(
I'm betting that EU gets exactly the same amount of time in Open beta as NA gets. I'm also betting that EU is shifted by 2 days from the NA plan.
NA: OB start 7/9, Live on 16/9
EU: OB start 9/9, live on 18/9

I'm betting that EU gets exactly the same amount of time in Open beta as NA gets. I'm also betting that EU is shifted by 2 days from the NA plan.
NA: OB start 7/9, Live on 16/9
EU: OB start 9/9, live on 18/9
This link gives EU dates, its from the UK EA site so I guess it's as legit as the US investors site info?
http://eastore.ea.com/DRHM/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayProductDetailsPage&SiteID=eaemea&Locale=en_GB&Env=BASE&productID=106719600
Basically says:
Status: Pre-Release Beta Access: 07/09/08
Live Headstart: 15/09/08
Full release: 18/09/08
Fingers crossed Iain_C will give us a confirmation sooner rather than later! We need a bit of positive news to put the EU players fears to an end!
Edit: I found this link in a post by Mathus in the thread http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55491 - not my find. ;)

EA probably wanted to make the annoucement themselves first, which seems a perfectly logical thing seeing as it's their game.

Thanks for the update Ian, however it seems to me your last post was basically don't expect any replied to any of the harder questions today. Its now 4pm and as the US are -8 hours behind, and I assume some of the clearence will come from there, so looks like we will have to wait until Tuedsay morning at the earliest.

Yea, just a shame they won't take the responsibility and fix the mess.
CE CB access
Good community communication
Road-to-war
Working Website
Working Account Management
These are the main things the US have over the EU.

They are taking responsibility, which is why they made this post in the first place. If they really didn't want to acknowledge there were problems, they would not have given us opportunities via this Q&A post to get some answers to our fears/problems. We don't know yet what they are intending to do about the problems because they have only just received our questions. Patience is a virtue.

With the announcement that open beta will be on the 7th, which means the preview weekend must be before this, will EU CE buyers get invited into the PW?
If the 'standard' headstart is taking place on the 15th will the EU CE buyers get an extended HS?
Both these things have been promised to the NA buyers by Mbj. So if the answer to any of the above 2 questions is no then can we please have a reason as to why?
Many thanks,
Max.

This is GoA stepping in to answer questions. It isn't EA. Plus they are only answering our questions, they haven't specifically said they are going to fix anything. We are still going to be without the CE CB, we are still going without a road-to-war website and there is no guarantee that what the masses have asked of the website change will take place. So no, they aren't stepping in and fixing anything.
Patience IS a virtue, but when you see others ahead of you, you know it's time to start working to catch up.

Reading all this make me really sad. Me, like many others, have been tracking developments thoroughly and got all excited until these last few days. It's quite sad to see that EU costumers are really set back here. We lack information but most important a full functional website(!!). To me this is out of order. Do you want my company to make a EU WAR website? At least it would be working.
What we really need now for EU pre-orders is some official statements from GOA...
When can we expect such a thing?
thanks.
We are still going to be without the CE CB
I know this is supposed to be a thread for questions directed to GOA but in the lack of information and response from them I'd appreciate an answer from anyone at all.
Could anyone confirm that CE players in EU will be without CB please? Has there been any official statements regarding this yet? Have I got it right that US players are already in CB?
So sorry for the trouble, just trying to figure out what is going on and decide whether to cancel my CE or not and go for a normal pre-order.

The CB screw up has to be attributed to Mythic too, clearly there was a communication break-down between the two companies, so don't put this all on GOA because they seem an easy target.
The Road to War issue is not even something that is a big deal. It has no impact on the actual game itself, so really, I would see it as lowest priority. Yes people have said they would like an EU version, but really, who cares. The game itself is the most important thing.
The only thing I see that isn't looking too good is the War-Europe site, but they have already said there will be some changes to this site, so lets give them a chance to make those changes. If it doesn't have all the information and things that we need, then we can address it again at the correct time. But let's also be clear, just because people don't want a flash website, if it offers all the things that are necessary for the game, the fact that it's flash and not to many people's taste, is neither here nor there. Content is the MOST important aspect.

This is what IainC should be answering ? these questions have been put to him time and time again but he still does not want to answer them, why because GOA have no answer to these questions.
They shafted us in Europe and now they don`t even have the decency to answer these simple questions. This thread was meant to be a communication thread between the future European player base and GOA? how many times in this thread has a representative spoken in the last 4-5 days? 4 at most..lol how very pathetic and predictable.
They will wait till the PW has been and gone then blab on about some pathetic excuse on why we did not get the same offer. Perhaps MJ could speak to us/ after all GOA work for mythic not mythic goa, but no because they could not give a fickle about Europe as long as NA is happy and they can shaft blizzard on they`re own doorstep they could not give a flying fickle about Europe.
You know what really pees me off..Paul Barnett is English GW is European/UK, yet they have done nothing whatsoever to hep us on this side of the pond, it`s all about the US freaking A.
Well, considering that this is happening right now!

Are ANY of the Devs, NA or EU side going to actually pull their thumbs out and get the EU people into atleast some type of level with the NA folks?
Is there any chance GOA are actually going to do something other than look at the forums and then leave without a word? Or shall we all just give up now, and take it like a man?

If you bothered to read his post, then I suggest you actually read it again, but take notice of the actual words and what they mean.
He has stated that he cannot answer all of the questions, and therefore he has passed them on to all of the relevent people at GOA who can answer them.
I suggest you wait for these answers to come back. If it then seems that your questions are being ducked, it would be right to make an issue of it at that time. Until then, wait it out and give the guy a break.

ranting on/
When I found this forum, I made a topic questioning former DAOC people about why they thought GOA was a bad choice for WAR in EU. I was reassured back then, that though it was a bad time during DAOC, they would get it right this time arround.... I must admit that I am getting worried again. Am I gonna get cheated out of the whole CE Preorder deal? When it goes live, will the patches get huge delays as people have reportet from DAOC? Respons time for support? One promise hinges on another... if they fail on one then my faith is shaken on the rest.
I'm still playing The Burning Grind with its crappy PvP, so I can fall back on Lol of the Loot King incase WAR (EU version :-P) dosnt work out. Look what has happend with AoC. IMHO any company that releases a new MMO, needs to make damn sure that they are ready for the release as people have more options (as I see it) to fall back than they use to (and with AoC the customers proved that they are willing to do so).
GOA might still come through for us Europeans.. but they better have some magicians who have large amounts of rabbits stuck up their sleeves, if they intend to wait much longer. Ian is a CM, he is our contact to GOA. If he aint supplied with the needed water to quell fires then the fault dosnt lie with him. I am sure that he does what he can, but the decisions isnt his to make, even though he is the face of the company that takes all the hits aimed at GOA.

Right, well if he can`t answer then get someone on here who can? these question were put to lainC over a week ago when we first heard about the PW and the CE NA CB invites. IainC response was "i am having a meeting with mythic on Monday" well that was nearly 11 days ago? do you see our point or should we shut up and put up even though like the NA we paid for the pre-order. Yes the PRE-Order did not promise a PW or CE invite to CB but if people in NA can get these bonuses then we would like to know why we can`t. It was MJ who said we will get the exact same treatment as people in NA, does not look like it from where i am standing and many others.
We will give IainC a break and yes he is not in full control but that`s what happens when you are the voice of GOA on this site? it comes with the well paid job. IainC told us he would have answers for us 11 days ago? now here we are asking the same dumb question with the same mute response.

Well, Monday is basicly over (Office Hours, at any rate) and still no answers to any of the questions. Big suprise, there. Now all we're missing is some NA-peeps in here whining about how much we're whining.
I'm starting to wish I'd never pre-ordered the CE. Nothing can be worth this clusterf*k.
I have. And you know what I usually did when I wanted answers from colleagues and managers? I picked up the bloody phone.
Ever tried doing it when managers are in America? >.>
I feel bad for Ian and GOA. They are probably running by the schedule that they were originally given, 7th September, and are getting things done for OB to start then.
I don't see the point in complaining about others getting free ice cream when you didn't pay for it and were never promised it. Mythic clearly pushed forward their schedule, because they could, and gave CB access to their CE customers. If EA are controlling the purse strings, they probably decided when GOA would get their servers and when they would be set up, going by the schedule for 7th September. GOA probably have their hands tied for information release as well, it's EA and Mythic's call what gets said and when. I doubt GOA are allowed to do anything other than simply reiterate what the others have said.
If the most we get to complain about in the EU is not getting into CB and having the same website then I'm glad I live here and not the US ... although considering how whinny some of our populace seems to be, suddenly I'm not so sure... >.>

This is just a suggestion, but perhaps it would be better to have a separate thread for all the questions, and then have moderators make compilation posts out of those questions and post them in a locked thread for GOA reps to look at.
Just browsing 16 pages of posts is making things more confusing.

"Equal or better service"
This is the real complaint. We are no where near to getting an equal or better service. I'm not blaming GoA for not having us in the CE CB at the same time as NA. I'm saying Mythic should be stepping in right now to help get us up to an equivalent level, and it IS GoA's fault for not making an effort to implement a CE CB. They said they were going into talks about it a week ago and we haven't got a reply about it since.
The Road to War website is part of the service that Mythic is offering to NA players, GoA say they want to get people excited but do you see people jumping for joy? I sure don't. Road-to-war website, I can live without it but it's just a prime example of how GoA is behind, not to mention NA players get a chance of extra content by taking part.
Finally the website, my complaint wasn't that it was Flash. My complaint is that people are unhappy about the state of the website and many feel that Flash is one of the concerns, GoA is ignoring people's complaints.
Yes they deserve to be allowed time to answer these questions but they really do need to sort their stuff out, you can't deny that we are behind the NA by a mile.
OK, I have a NEW question: Why is it that when I enter my EU open beta access code in Fileplanet's download site, I get back that my access code is invalid?

I for one have now decided if they have issues and we fail to get into OB as planned then I will be moving my business stateside. To be honest if GOA bottom line takes a hit its their own fault, and myself together with the rest of the EU community will have no sympathy.
Question: When are we getting Download Links publish as Mythic are doing in conjunction with Fileplanet
Question: Can you just simply come out and say sorry guys No CB invitatations for EU CE, and no preview weekend.
Question: (I need a macro now) When are the account pages becoming available?

This morning we packed off all your questions to the powers that be and will be posting answers as we get them back. For soem of the very straightforward questions, I've answered them already myself. For the rest I need to either get an answer from above or get a green light to post the details. A lot of things are being clarified and confirmed at the moment and I want to make sure that I'm only giving 100% accurate, carved in stone details so as not to confuse matters further.
so it is 100% accurate and carved in stone that we won't get a herald
