They...can, sorta. As said, be a BW or Sorc if you are only interested in blowing stuff up.

so, the archmage can sort of blow up? of course they can't blow up as strongly as a BW, but they also aren't gimped in DPS?

They are indeed "gimped" in DPS. If they weren't, they'd be the most OP thing ever, since they can heal too.
