Best Rune Priest Partner

so im planning on rolling a rune priest for sure, and my buddy who was my 2v2 partner in wow (2342) rating, is trying to pick a class, now what do u guys think best combo for rune priest will be.

White Lion! Melee DPSer with a melee pet squishing people while you heals him. Good times, good times

The most logic choice would be a tank. Due to the fact that he can taunt them and limit damage against u when u can heal.

Maybe an Ironbreaker or a Swordmaster. However your damage output might be lower.

I think the real choice should be based upon your own experiences with the chars maybe in Beta or at the launch

I'd say ironbreaker or swordmaster would be great if you want to go the tank+healer grouping which is my favorite in most mmos. I'm sure pretty much any dps class will do decently as well tho. Engineer sounds like it would be a fun combo as well.

Hmm, technically, from what I've read, a Brotherhood spec Ironbreaker with you as his oath friend would probably be the best. You buff and heal him, he buffs and protects you, you guys would be pretty beefy as a duo.

A whitw lion would be great for a more offensive duo, the lion has limited tanking, (even more with your support) and the two of you can put up a good bit of damage. On the defensive side, an ironbreaker or swordmaster would be great.

I had the best results with a tank career, PvE-wise. In most cases where you need a partner, such as the Hero mobs at the end of PQ's, you are typically going to want a true tank and dedicated support for them. Even if you don't kill it with the two of you, you manage to hold your ground dealing with a Hero mob, while the adds are either dealt with or until backup arrives for the entire thing. The RP can detaunt the mob, also cutting the monster's AP in half (it seems to help a lot) while the tank taunts, and a RP or Zealot is likely the best "dedicated tank healer" for their sides.

Iron Breaker if he wants a tank or Bright Wizard for caster...

If it doesnt matter, I would say BW as it will do a ton more dmg and mow through targets faster than IB ever will (rvr and pve)

I'd have to agree with dtjohnson to some degree. Ironbreaker and Runepriest have great synergy together. Plus Ironbreaker can put out some mean Damage as well as take the damage as well. The Bright Wizard, on the other hand, has almost no synergy with a Runepriest and can only damage while not being able to take the hits very well.

I run a Runepriest/Ironbreaker combo with my buddy, and we are always 1st Damage/1st Healing in Scenarios, and can usually take about 4-5 people ourselves, though we're very tactical and communicate well together as most of the others, I'm sure, are pick ups. I don't see the BW/RP combo having that much of an impact in RvR/Scenarios.

In PvE, I've been able to duo early PQs with just the RP/IB combo. You won't be able to do that with just a RP/BW unless you exploit terrain.

Just my opinion on the matter.
