you or your oathfriend gets hit and your grudge goes up

max 100 grudge

some abilities improve with more grudge while others spend grudge

So its a bite like Rage from WoW or Adrenaline from Guild Wars except its only when you and you buddy get hit? Not when "you" hit? (fluff description had me think so)

Whenever you get hit by an enemy, you get 5 grudge (I'm not sure if spell count). Whenever your oathfriend gets hit by an enemy, you get 10. (Your oathfriend is whoever you use your oathfriend buff on. They gain buffs when you use certain skills and in turn you get grudge when they get attacked. I've had a lot of success declaring Warrior Priests as my oathfriend and guarding them as one of my key skills increases my oathfriend's and my strengh and willpower - both of which warrior priests can REALLY use to max efficiency.)

There are tactics and abilities that change this and give you more grudge (there is a tactic that gives you 5 grudge whenever you hit an enemy and there is a buff in the brotherhood path that gives you 15 grudge when you get hit by a spell, for example.)

I'm seriously considering rolling an IB instead of an RP upon release after my experience during the preview weekend.

RedAries description of grudge is a good one in my opinion.

The tactic that gives you 5 grudge on hit (once per second max) is called "rising anger", and is considered by many to be a "must have" for those times when you are grudge starved (soloing for example).

One thing not really mentioned in this thread is that "Guard" is one of the core abilities that make Ironbreaker's so amazing, as it allows the Ironbreaker to take 50% of the damage and hate that is directed to the person you Guard. This makes duo'ing with an ironbreaker amazing, especially for a class like a warrior priest who can help kill things yet heal as well. Guard + Oath Friend = <3

Recommendation:

This thread needs something about stats. It would help a lot, when comparing gear.

IE, the "5 strength = 1 dps to skills, x to auto-hits", "1 wounds = x hp" conversion, etc.
