View Full Version : Two problems I've found so far

1) Why is the icon for Witch Elf a pair of breasts, and how is this in any way appropriate, especially when all the other classes get some miscellaneous weapon/item that is relevant to the class? It's really disappointing to see stuff like this and it'd send a much different message if the icon were changed to something more appropriate, such as an actual object instead of a body part.
2) Isn't the class called "Sorceress?" Why is it listed as Sorcerer here?

Heya a few quick answers,
We didn't pick the Icons, Mythic did, so we're mirroring what is easily most recognizeable.
Why is a class called Sorceress, vs Sorcerer. Considering you can be either, that is a good question. Not sure, why to be honest.

Alright, thanks for the quick answers. So these are the icons that will be in game? That's pretty disappointing, actually. I guess they don't realize how small things can be really exclusionary. I thought it was called Sorceress because it's (lore-wise) a female-dominated class? Oh well.

Lore wise in Dark Elf society males aren't allowed to openly practice sorcery, since the witch king got a vision that he'll be killed by one.
However, with the coming war he's allowed them to come out into the public and join the war effort. (the assumption is ... after the war is over... he will have them all killed.)

No, I knew that. But since they aren't really allowed to practice sorcery, it makes sense that the feminine "Sorceress" would be the default name.

you'd think so. from everything i've seen. The game treats the two terms the same in some respect, and different in others.
for example if you search for Sorceress, you'll get Sorcerers returned with the result list. However, NPCs will refer to the male versions as Sorcerers and the females as Sorceress.
As far as why they choose to use the 'sorcerer' as the career name for this forum... I've no idea, you'll have to ask the person that made that choice. About the only reason i could guess is ... it's shorter, and the person typing was lazy.

Re: the icon...
My brother already has been told he can't do the DE content. Spousal agro. It would be funny, but she was actually, really upset by the Witch Elves. In this context, I can't laugh about that.
Good thing he's already set on going Green. ;)

we use Sorcerer because the game actually has male and female versions of all the career names, and we default to the male one

It doesn't make sense in the context of the game, is what I'm saying, and the Armies of War page refers to them as Sorceresses.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I actually do agree in this case that we should change it to "Sorceress" to fit more within the Warhammer lore. I'll pass this feedback on.
