Empire Starter Guide
---
Orange: Tome Unlocks

The Empire is humanity's last beacon of light in the darkness that threatens to overcome them on all sides, and you have decided to join their ranks. Though surrounded and outnumbered, the men and women of the Empire have never been known to back down from their ideals and principles, and will fight to preserve their way of life even against those who would seek to destroy it. The Empire's high morals and sense of civility is constantly tainted by the efforts of the Northmen of Chaos, and corruption and temptation have barely been kept at bay.

Rustic Grimmenhagen - the perfect vacation spot, minus the houses on fire and the cannon fire.

As a new member of the Empire war effort, you'll begin your work in Nordland, in the assaulted village of Grimmenhagen. Walk forward and meet your first quest NPC's, the knight Viktor Riese (http://www.wardb.com/npc.aspx?id=111).

http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=479&pictureid=3022

I'm a Knight, and you can't play my class...yet.

Viktor will trigger the Empire unlock for you and give you your first quest, Wolves Among the Sheep (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=30000). This quest will put you right into the fray as you attempt to repel invading Marauders from the village. Behind Viktor is the Rally Master for the area, Eldred Krebs (http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=479&pictureid=3024) - interact with him to get a Tome unlock. Rally Masters provide bind points for death and issue Public Quest rewards based upon the amount of Influence you have currently from doing them.

Proceed southwest down the road out of the main square, down a path, and around. On the way, you'll meet Lanric (http://www.wardb.com/npc.aspx?id=113), who will give you the quest Grimmenhagen Burning (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=30001). Lanric wants you to help evacuate the villagers too scared to come out of their burning homes. Proceed down the path to the burning village, where you can bang on the doors to get the villagers out of harm's way while killing the Marauders you need to complete your other quest. You'll also unlock the Servant of Chaos Tome entry.

Chaos Door-to-Door Salesmen really go to great lengths to get you to buy into their product.

Free enough villagers and kill enough Marauders, then go back the way you came, turning in your quest to Lanric along the way. When you talk to Viktor again, he completes your initial quest and gives you a new one, Hearts and Minds (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=30003). Looks like the Empire will take anyone these days, even simple Farmer (http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=479&pictureid=3027) folk. Head north along the road, then move northwest to come to a hill overlooking a grain field. Head down here and interact with Farmers trying to rally them. Some will join you enthusiastically while some are Chaos sympathizers and will attack you. Either way, rally enough farmers and head to Cuthbert (http://www.wardb.com/npc.aspx?id=28) to the northwest when finished.

Cuthbert will complete your farmer recruitment quest and give you a new one, Return Fire!. This quest directs you to go north and down to the valley below and slay four Raven Hellmagi (http://www.wardb.com/npc.aspx?id=35). Head northwest, off the hill, and kill them as requested, then return to Cuthbert, who will give you two new quests targeting specific Chaos troops in the same area as you were in before. Silencing the Cannons (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=30016) tells you to go kill Raven Hellfangsand Raven Hellservants (http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=479&pictureid=3030), and Test of Mettle (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=30017) gets you to try to kill a Raven Hellmaster (http://www.wardb.com/npc.aspx?id=366). Talk about thinning the herd. Head out past the line of Hellmagi and you should find all of these mobs waiting for you. If you're lucky you might trigger the 25 Critical Hits Tome unlock in the process. Go back to Cuthbert and he'll complete those quests and give you a new one, Urgent Orders (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=30015), to go find Airin Bitterstone, a Dwarf who can help you further.

Before we do that, though, we're going to head back to camp to do a couple things. Go back to where you started by heading east across the field and south up the path. If you've gained a rank, you'll want to go left to the tower as you approach the village and go to Career Trainer Elsa Schmidt (http://www.wardb.com/npc.aspx?id=132). Get some Core Training in, then go to Viktor.

Go around to the right of Viktor, around the statue until you find Elder Eckolt (http://www.wardb.com/npc.aspx?id=146). Eckolt will give you two quests, Woebegone (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=30196), which sends you to the inn in town to find dwarf Orgni Stouthammer (http://www.wardb.com/npc.aspx?id=532), and Amber Blossom (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=30359), which tells you to go find, of course, an Amber Blossom in the field and help a wounded High Elf, Saldon Sharpspear (http://www.wardb.com/npc.aspx?id=143), with it. Next, find Ulfred (http://www.wardb.com/npc.aspx?id=134), who is to the right of Eckolt on the path in the village. Ulfred will give you Murder Wood (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=30019), telling you to gather beastmen horns for him.

We can advance Woebegone a little bit by turning right and heading straight down the path to the building in front of you. This is the Inn where Orgni is located, and going up the stairs and opening the door will earn you the Superstition unlock. Talk to Orgni to unlock the Dwarf tome entry, and he'll update Woebegone (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=30196) by telling you that he needs a stiff drink, and that only Airin Bitterstone can give it to him. This is the second time we get a quest to find Airin so this is pretty convenient. Before you go, head up the stairs in the inn and interact with the Life of Sigmar book to learn about Sigmar. After that, exit the inn and proceed straight once you hit the bottom of the steps to the recruitment desks behind the tower. You'll unlock The Order of the Griffon, and see Scrivener Elwin (http://www.wardb.com/npc.aspx?id=4343), who will give you the quest A Son's Sacrifice (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=30357), which directs you to go recruit a young man in town by talking to his father. What a haul!

Let's start by completing A Son's Sacrifice, since we can do that in town. Turn left from the recruitment desks and proceed to go straight, around the tower, and to the north towards Jakob Hebel (http://www.wardb.com/npc.aspx?id=4342). If you do this right, you'll unlock The Plague as you run. Talk to Jakob, who refuses to let his son go to war. Jakob's Son, however, has other plans, and if you talk to him afterwards he'll join up anyway, completing your quest. Head back to Scrivener Elwin, who'll give you credit.

Dad, you just have to stop copying my look. "Modern Empire" is not for you.

Turn around and proceed north out of town, then go to the northwest til you see a house off the road. This is where Airin Bitterstone is. He'll complete Urgent Orders, and update Woebegone (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=30196) by telling you that the barrel of Bugman's he intended on giving to Orgni was taken by a centigor named Kruk'tar the Drunken (http://www.wardb.com/npc.aspx?id=3148)that needs to be killed. He'll also give you a couple more quests - one called Granthar's Lucky Hammer, which will send you to the crypt to the north gather some tools needed from a Dwarf ancestor, and another called Horrors of War (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=30059), which has you rallying some Cowering Militiamen and killing some Raven Marauders.

Go north then east now, until you find a narrow path into a forest clearing. Here you'll find Savage Gorehorns to kill to get those Beastmen horns, so kill enough to finish your quest, and head south back to town. Turn in your quest with Ulfred and he'll give you another, ,which tells you to investigate the herdstone in the beastmen area.

Go north a bit more and into the field to the northeast. You'll find Amber Blossoms among the Marauders in this region, so grab one, then talk to Saldon (also unlocking High Elf) to get a step to finish the quest by talking to Eckolt. You can also finish Horrors of War here by killing the Marauders and interacting with the Cowering Militiamen here, who will help you with the quest.

Sign #2425 that a place is haunted: Dead bodies in front of the gate.

Go west now. You'll see the graveyard and crypt ahead of you, but keep going past it into the forest. You'll see the centigor that you have to kill to get the Bugman's. Kill him to finish that quest and get the Centigor unlock, (and kill a Stonescream Bat (http://www.wardb.com/npc.aspx?id=1425) and Venombite Nachtspinner (http://www.wardb.com/npc.aspx?id=1421) if you want a Giant Bat and Giant Spider unlock) then head back to the crypt. Fight your way down to the bottom, where Granthar's Coffin contains the tools you need. You'll unlock Spirit Host during your fights with the monsters there. Incidentally, if you kill giant spiders here, you can go southeast to the Grimmenhagen Windmill and find Caemris Sharpspear (http://www.wardb.com/npc.aspx?id=3151), who will reward you for your efforts.

Go back south towards town, but take the same path southeast into the forest where you fought the beastmen. Fight your way to the herdstone and inspect it to update your quest, and defeat the Shaman who spawns to ambush you. With everything completed, head back towards town. Turn in your quests with Airin on the way back, and once in town, finish things off with Orgni in the inn as well. Turn in Amber Blossom with Eckolt. Turn in Horrors of War with Viktor and you'll get The Grey Lady Coaching Inn (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=30012) quest, which will take you to the next part of the area. You're on your way to becoming a loyal, brave soldier in the Empire!

Let's take a quick look at the area's first Public Quest and Scenario before we send you on your way.

Raven Host Vanguard has three stages:

Stage 1 has you killing the marauders assaulting the citizens.
Stage 2 has you holding out against a seemingly endless Chaos force while keeping the local Warrior Priest and citizens alive.
Stage 3 pits you and your fellow Order friends against a powerful giant daemon, intent on killing you all unless you can stand against it!

The area's scenario is Nordenwatch, where you can potentially get unlocks for Greenskin and Dark Elf by killing them in combat.

The objective of the scenario is to control the three points on the map. Control of any of the points as well as killing other players earns you Victory Points towards winning the scenario.
The three points are in the south, north, and west of the map, and your initial run will take you towards the Barracks point.
While it is natural to take the point closest to you first, and then rush the center Fortress point, to create a shift in strategy, capture Lighthouse, and then go north on the map to capture the Barracks point right under Destruction's noses. If you split your groups you can create a deadly pincer attack in the center.

Should also add that there is a gravestone by the crypt that gives you a title unlock, as well as the herdstone in the beastmen area gives a title unlock too.
