As with the TT game wherein the Slayer army of Karak Kadrin exists I am also proposing that we as stalwart dwarf players make a guild/regiment composed entirely of Slayers or Slayer aspirants.

Who wants in?!

Ungrim Drengial (Oathbound Slayers) is already such a guild :)

But the guild thread and roleplay has died :(

If our one isn't reborn, then I'll join yours when the game comes out ;)

I'm trying to revive the Ungrim Drengial RP but since I started late I've had to make two consecutive posts so far to try and catch up. Next post should see me hewing orcs with the rest.

I think Adamare was going to create a slayer guild, but Haggrim Haggrimsson beat him to it. Maybe I shall have an ale with him and see if he is still interested...

I think I may try an revive the slayer guild, I wrote the damn introduction anyway :p
I may create a new thread for it, or just bump the old one... or wait and see if Bolg creates a guild!

I would very much like to get a slayers guild rolling again :cool:

Wild grobi couldnt keep me away. having played warhammer for many years and role play for a while aswell my favourate warhammer charector was always my trusty dragon slayer Skrall . (also my barberian dwarf for d&d). He has won many victoryes and with my dedication and effort put into this type of game will prove to be a strong slayer (i hope.)

I am very pleased at the poll results so far. We have a good number of people who'd like to be slayers, but also some that don't. So it's very good. I hope we don't see a huge Slayer population.

I dont care about those who don't wanna be slayers, cuz they got their minds set on other things and I respect that, what I want is that enough people show interest in being a slayer at least enough to call us an army in our own right.

I'd like to join Ungrim Drengial but I'm hoping for an oceanic server and if and when the game comes online I look for which server you guys are in, join, and hope for the best that lag will not be too much of an issue.

Personaly i dont understand why people wouldnt want to be slayers i meen, sure they are shunned from the rest of the dwarfern populuse, but who wouldnt want to be a crazed killing machine able to take down creatures far greater then his size, and not actualy forfill his goal by dieing.

I think Slayers are awesome as well, but I can see why some people would not be attracted to them. I mean, they're crazed, rude, violent, and their overall appearance is a bit akward. I mean they do have giant orange mohawks. So I can see why people wouldn't want to be them. Which is all fine and dandy, as long as they play as other Dwarfs that is! If they're elves or other races I'm gonna have to bust their skulls with my hammer!

While slayers are awesome in most respects, I don't play them for two reasons:
1. I want to be an Engineer fully concentrated on his work,
2. Slayers don't really fit the blunt "Dwarf" image or style

But hell, after a Squig Herder my next alt's a Slayer.

Thank you for helping me prove that Slayers aren't for everyone.

Like a friend of mine who will also be playing WAR, is a huge Dwarf Fan. He's read most of the Dwarf novels as have I. And we're always talking about how awesome slayers are. (Especially Snorri Nosebiter) But when the game actually comes out, he is going to be a Dwarf engineer, or Ironbreaker.

I'd like to see 100% confirmation on that fact. Paul Barnett has already stated that slayers will be "playable" but from that interview I did kind of get that they were possibly some kind of "prestige" class.

Which I would prefer, we don't want any noob slayers running around giving slayers a bad name. Slayers should be Veteran players. That and I wouldn't mind trying my hand as a Hammerer.

Oh I beleive we will not be able to start off as slayers, but we will have to start off as another class and make a trip to Karak Kadrin at some point during the game to become a slayer.

I hope they dont "replace" any of the existing classes, but I hope they are done right ;)

I am confident (very hopeful?) that we will be able to play slayers, but not from the word go at the character creation screen.

Ten orcs come the other way in epix.
Slayer runs away, shouting "OMG!111 hElp! AoDz!111"

Yea, that will happen.
But if its a non-RP server, who cares? All your would-be-heroes will be doing the exact same thing. On a non-rp server things like that dont matter, you just play a class, kill things, talk to other players... who gives a zy about how your character class is meant to act in certain situations?

I will be on a RP server however ;) And it wont be the first time I have roleplayed a dwarf berserker. I wont be running from anything!!! :p Unless there is a very good reason (dishonourable death.) Otherwise, I will charge towards that dragon on my own if my group doesnt get their act together fast enough!

That my freind is why Slayers are very easy to RP i mean after N00bs and ROflcopters and peeps who don't play Warhammer find out that slayers are suicidal once they are slayers thats exactly what they will do albert saying
"ROFL I PWN THIS BLOODTHRISTER LOL LOL!!!111"

Thats why im hoping you cant start as them, though it would be kwl to be a slayer from the word go. I would much rather have to put in many sleepless nights and reach it when there are very few slayers. Without all the noops running round with the big orange mowhawk getting killed bye every little beasty thrown at them.

But my point is, that all characters will be doing that anyway on Non RP servers... and for any character/hero it is "unseemly" for them to do so, its not a slayer issue, its just that people wont be acting in character anyway on a NRP server, so it doesn't matter in the slightest if someone doesnt RP their slayer as a crazed doom seeking madman.

On a RP server you wont get people running around shouting "ROFLCOPTER I GOT PWNED BY A BLOODTHIRSTER!!111!"

You will hopefully just get a lot of dead slayers, and people who roleplay their characters sensibly.

Slayers are quite easy to RP, as long as you dont mind getting killed.
Why choose slayer on a RP server, if you dont want to RP a manical detah-seeking dwarf? Pick hammerer and leave tha' dying tae us!!

And I doubt slayers will be able to solo daemons :p I dont think mythic will let us!

So yea, on nonrp servers, where this is not even an issue, you will get "wimpy" slayers.
On a RP server, where this is an issue, you will get people RPing as slayers, without the1337 speak.

Thats the theory anyway.

Of course, if someone wants to RP a cowardly slayer, who am I to stop them...
