My squig strategy will be more like

1. Unleash squigs
2. Charge in with squigs
3. Have my squigs clustered in and around me making his target a little harder to choose. (Click one, you might not get the one you want!)
4. Who knows! The wonders of life...

4 = Live or die.

Yea. You would kite with a bow...it's true...

But I will NOT be using a bow. I will be using a spear.

actually considering the squigs are going to do damage, it could be effective to kite with spear too :P

Ohhh this is true...and who knows, maybe as close range I'll get a sort of "Wing Clip" like in WoW.

Kite them around and when they decide to start killing the squigs, I jump back in and do some damage.

How dangerous is that?!

Yeah.. Kiting for Warhammer.
What would a game be without biting the manual in diabolic physical pain, so strong it can make your eyeballs bleed out of pure hatred, because of the sole reason that the devil himself rolled a hunter, just to ruin every day you sit down in front of the computer to PvP just 2 minutes!!!

But who says WAR is sticking to tradition in any way whatsoever? :)

Actually, in traditional warfare back in 1200 - 1500, The melee infantary blocked the way for the enemy, while the archers were shooting. So no kiting in traditional combat :).

Personally I hope playing a squig herder will be a constant battle between micromanaging your squigs and keeping them from doing something wrong (attacking you, running away) with snacks, goads, and apparently playing the flute, while also keeping them in the right place at the right time to do maximum devastation without getting yourself killed at the same time. It would be very hectic, but also very rewarding.

Not quite. Cavalry with bows did kite.

1. Unleash Squigs
2. Run (direction unimportant, circles preferable)
3. Pick up the spoils left by your three Black Orc mates
4. Profit!!!

Anyways, if the squig herder dies in combat will the squigs run rampant as in the old O&G book, do damage to all nearby characters or flee? Or something else?

"His minions will even fight on after his death, wandering off only when the battle is done."

So fleeing is ruled out. I think they might stay on the target the Herder told them to attack. Then it's just FFA (except won't attack "Friendly" of course...)

Haha...wouldn't that be awesome. Awesome and annoying. Your herder friend dies, and his squigs turn on you.

You know what I think would be cool? Have a talent in the Career Advancement called "Vengeance". Whenever the Herder dies, the squigs stop attacking whatever target they're attacking, and all focus on the one person who dealt the killing blow to their beloved Master.

I'm sending that into Mythic. Because that would be totally awesome. But it may be overpowered depending how strong the squigs are...and GW may want to keep it traditional in the sense that they just go fight closest target like Freidrich said.

Not quite. Cavalry with bows did kite.

In Medival: Total War, perhaps.

actually many mongolians and asian's did that tactic

well it's a good thing WAR won't have mongolians, or all of our city walls would be doomed.

Ken
10-12-2006, 09:39 AM
Or just our walls in general.

Heh, it'd be pretty awful if Mongolians lived south of us (America), because they'd probably cross our borders and walls and lower our minimum wages and take a lot of jobs. It'd be chaos.

Good thing Mongolians don't live down there, I say!

Yeah, but not all "non-melee" proffesions. That's my point.

Though not noticable a sharp or even aimed point, one will let the topic not go astray any longer :)

Ones tactics being:
1. Unleash drooling squigs
2. Self drool, remember to do something with bow and arrow
3. Hope noone is watching
4. Poke remains for useful bits - might be me?

Well, unleash squigs, charge after them, chain yourself to someone's ankle before dying, successfully impairing their movement for the remainder of combat and wait by in spirit form for every enemy to die because they ignored the threat of Squigs!

Then, you can laugh successfully, as you'd be a fine party of ghosts sitting around.
Maybe try to taunt some of the less intelligent of the departed to try and punch you while incorporeal!

~Lakvar, on squig warfare and goblin misuse!

WAR won't be groundbreaking, it's just going to be good. WAR is sticking to tradition a great deal actually.

best hearder tatics would have to be an ambush. you always see that one person to chase after you and leave his group alone. and Pow surrounded by a bunch of squigs. allowing you to shoot/stabb him to death then its all about rinsing and repeating.

also the mongolians didnt really kite persay they did hite and run tatics and alot of skirmish warfare mainly do to there higer mobility. another tatic the mongolians and scandianvians did was to surround your oppents with around 10 calvery archers and just shoot as many arrows as possiable into the group in the center its extremly effective and very demorlizing.
