I was wondering what role religion should play in WAR and what options should be open.
Do we go with Sigmar only for simplicity, or build on the whole pantheon of the Old Gods?
For example,
Warrior Priests - Sigmarite only or do Ulricites get to play?
Knights - Knights of the Burning Heart or do we get Knights of the White Wolf ?

It's a good question but from the empire army description i think Mythic has blanked Ulric totally;
“We fight with our steel, we fight with our courage, but above all we fight them with our faith in Sigmar!”
- Magnus the Pious
The greatest nation of men in the Old World, the Empire is composed of the human descendants of Sigmar, who united the tribes of men at the Battle of Black Fire Pass. Sigmar was deified after the battle and his promise of eternal aid to the kingdom of Dwarfs still stands today.
Ulric doesnt get mentioned at all :(

Well, I truly hope that the pantheon doesn't get too neglected. Shallyans as the only proper healers in the Empire could be a good resource to use - maybe NPC healers that get you back to your feet when you get lethally wounded (or die, I don't know which version Mythic will use).
Altdorf should have temples to the most important deities and casinos of Ranald are way too cool to be neglected. A mini-game maybe? I'd love to gamble!

Chances are we're going to be stuck with Sigmar and the other gods only been mentioned. Of all of the gods, chances are Ulric would be shown.

You’ll hear mention of these other Gods in NPC dialog, and you’ll even meet some of their servants, like the Sisters of Shallya. How much of them you'll see represented in the game is still under wraps, but the influences of the other gods will be seen and heard.

More than likely, we will see more gods of the Empire be released with expansions. Just like how we will likely see Gods of Chaos released with expansions. But dont hold your breath.

Good to hear :) .
The Sisters are completely passive though, right? I don't want to see them out fighting anywhere.
And I would expect to find Priests of Morr at graveyards and other resting places of the dead.
Middenheim should be in the game as well, so followers of Ulric will be required to be there.
But it sounds like the Empire careers will only feature Sigmar followers.

Bah. Who needs Ulric. Everyone knows Sigmar is the greatest!
In all seriousness, I think Garthilk is right. And also, expansions can bring a lot of joy. (or not... *cough*Burning Crusade*cough*)

First off, I would like to begin by saying I am not wearing socks and am cold. NOw thats that out of the way.Sigmar would be a major character in the game since he is, the founder of the Empire and has forged and unbreakable bond between the dwarfs and humans.I'm sure well see temples and npcs dedicated to other gods, it would go against the empire if we didn't. I know some people say why cant we chose our gods. I think when most people think of choosing gods they want four separate classes for any additional god. So mythic would have to make sure each class on each fraction balances eachother out. As for additional gods/races for expansions, using the same race gets repetitive. Now I wouldnt see a problem with a warrior variant of ulric, at the beggining of the game you pick the warrior type class and select your gods, the only difference would be the look, furs and all that. And I don't think adding chaos gods would work. THe Ip says thats the four gods don't often work together and I doupt Tzeech would like his godly brothers interfering with his plans.

Actually, all throughout history it has been Tzeentch who has forged the temporary alliances with all the gods. He realizes that other gods would make nice pawns in his plans, but his plans are far beyond our understanding ;)

i dont like how restrictive it is......if even for roleplay purposes i should be allowed to look how i want. Now im forced to be part of a knightly order and im forced to be a Sigmar Witchhunter. That dosent sound very dynamic at all. Other Gods dont have to be a choice in game but if i chose to roleplay a follower of ulric i should be allowed to do so and be able to look like that as well.

The nice thing is that the Empire gods are a pantheon so you can worship them all at once. Though most pick a patron.

The problem with this is that they don't just look different, they are different. They speak different, they fight different. The reason they picked such "narrow" classes is so they can really capture the essence of the class and make them great!
(To be honest, a Knight of the Blazing Sun and a Knight of the White Wolf are about as different as a Black Orc and a Hammerer)

I'm sure the patheon of gods will be present throughout the Empire. Some gods however are going to have a bigger part than others. So far from the little we've been given it seems unlikely that you will be able to choose your god. Warrior-Priests will probably focus solely on Sigmar, as will most of the Empire, and KotBS will focus on Myrmidia. I guess mention of Verena could occur with Bright Wizards but who knows?

Coming from the ultimate sandbox mmo UO I too chaif under to many restrictions IG. It does look like the guys making this game really do understand Warhammer and will suprise us with more character options if not at release hopefully in an expansion.

The Knights of the Blazing Sun worship Myrmidia the old goddess of war (think Athena), so if I play a KoBS, I know who i'm praying to.
