Like the enthusiast I am, I'm going to translate this article into "CLASSES FOR EMPIRE!" Bwahahahhaa.
Anyway I'm hoping that this article hints at 3 of the classes being:
Bandit (Not definitely bandit, but definitely a ranged DPS)
Warrior Priest (Heal~buff/Tank)
Bright Wizard (Magic ranged DPS +buff)

So that means Empire gets two magic classes :E but WP wears lots of armor so they could be considered a Tank type, like a Paladin. Also thanks for the link, really interesting, Barnett is blunt to the point with excitement as always!

It says in that article that humans don't do all magic, because they tend to take it to the extreme... they are like 5 year olds... so the elves are careful about handing them any magical secrets...

So of all the magic schools they could, they gave the 5 year olds FIRE!
Well, I think the picture of the bright wizard in this article says it all :)
I like the info, as I said in the main thread, thank you!

Must say i'm quite surprised with the Bandit career. :-| I was under impression all classes will have more or less miltary character. I'm not quite sure if it will be a starting career at all. Otherwise it looks really damn cool

Awesome, been anxiously awaiting more class info glad you found it! I cannot wait because if they are showing Empire class info, Chaos cannot be far off. :D

Me wanna... me wanna...

Bandit! :D

I was afraid they would limit us so that we couldn't be those rotten citizens of the Empire, but more like the valiant defenders of it.

But I was wrong - we have the Bandit! :D

Yay! Come autumn 2007, come!

I could be wrong, but I think the bandit was a MOB, not a class.

As for the two classes anounced, they were kinda expected, but still looking good. The warrior priest was everything I thought it would be. And the mage, well I figured if they were going to give us just one order, it would either be the White Order or the Bright Order, and Pyromancers are my favorite, so it's all good.

:( No Greatswordsman!??!?! :(

Most likely, there will be Greatsword as the 4th Empire Class,
as a well-balanced melee/tank class.

I have to say, I'm very pleased with that I've been reading about Empire -
the Warrior-Priest looks like a melee-first, buffs-second class (big step away from
a healbot who wears plate), the Bright Wizard looks appropriately insane, and
I really like the Bandit. I might make my main a Bandit, depending on whether
or not Greatsword is the 4th class.

For some reason I think of the Bandit class something like a character out of Grenadier.

I could be wrong, but I think the bandit was a MOB, not a class.

That's the feeling I got as well. I thought it was just describing the illustration of an example of how technology is different in the Empire than it is in the dwarf lands.

Bandit just doesn't make sense to me as a player class for the Empire, in a game that revolves around realm vs. realm warfare. What place does a bandit have in that?

Steal other realms money to use for your own realm :D

Also they are capable of hijacking food caravans and hence, leaving the opposing army to be hungry.

Bright Wizard info looks great, I'm pretty sure I know what I'll end up as should I play Order.

It's nice that we've received some info that there will be solid DPS casters ingame, I was mildly worried about this trend towards hybridizing everything. I mean it's all very well if healers want to bash stuff with hammers every now and then, but I'll stick to my various explosions and fireballs thanks.

He does not say that the bandit will be a playable class.

I'm not saying that it won't be, but he definately does not say it is. It could just be an NPC type thing, we'll have to wait and see.

But Bright Mages look great...I'm pretty excited about it.

Lakvar- High elves aren't too bright, are they? giving little kids explosives and flames and fiery death...just not a good thing...Maybe they could have given them something like uhh...water? idk...floods and such...bad idea too...how about wind? ...no no no...tornadoes...uhm... Alright...I guess a little fire really isn't all that bad...if you think about it...but still not good. :D

The elves made the schools for humans since they live to short lives to learn more than one school of magic. Not that they can't be trusted. At least according to the real lore of the game (teclis going to the old world and helping them in one of the previous chaos wars by starting the collages of magic)

Anyway I love the description of the mage :) completly insane hehe.

Re. all this Bandit speculation just thought I would mention this here quickly (and in the other identical thread); I downloaded the latest high resolution media pack, it contains all the screenshots shown in that Gamespy article, the Bandit is labelled as an NPC.

If they do not make greatswordsmen (or swordsman) a class, I shall unleash a portal of hell and chaos upon Mythic until they reach the deepest levels of Hell... O_O

They will be a class like the Bandit. No way Mythic could ignore the technology side of the Empire.

They have to have a gun-toting class for the Empire, don't they? They dwarfs get Engineers, surely the Empire would get something like Pistol-wielders.

This is an outrage!

I demand a criminal class!

Or maybe we can have cut-throats
But really, I want something charmy and edgy. I've had my fair share of mad, fire-hurling (actually, my D&D wizard used more ice spells, that fire, but he wasn't any saner) spellcasters and crazy-to-boot religious fanatics (well, i've never played one, but my neighbour has immersed with this architype very skillfully. I just wish she would stop LARPing one when I'm playing Norwegian Blackmetal albums or sacrificing small rodents. I mean, it was funny in the beginning, but sheesh, it's so damn hard to remove HERE LIVES THE ANTICHRIST -graffiti from my door...).

I don't want anything heavily armoured or anything arrogant.

Paul said they took the Extremes of Empire. Lemme see... religion (check!) magyck (check!) steampunk (blank) military (blank) the zoo (blank).

Suggestions รก la moi:
-Steampunk: engineers, marksmen, inventors, scholars... all seem a bit dull or already taken... I bet it's an Outrider or a Pistolier...
-Military: well, a Knight is pretty extreme in the advanced empire, but Greatswords have their place in the ranks of Karl Franz.... either of those two, or maybe a nice refreshing choice of Free Militia :)
-The Zoo: well, thinking about extremes, the Altdorf Zoo comes to my mind... maybe a pet class for the Empire? They have pretty much everything there from gryphons to snotlings... Maybe something like The Imperial Beast-catcher or Beast Master...

If they don't put Bandits or something very much like them in as an Empire class, they're nuts. A lot more people seem keen to play them than either of the other actually officially announced classes, and they're an extremely cool concept.

They've had Pistoleers in the Empire army for more than a decade. Making them Engineers would make them overly similar to the Dwarves and be rather dull, really. I'll be very surprised if we see Empire Engineers as anything but an "advanced class", as it were.

A lightly-armoured, pistol-packing Witch Hunter could do, of course.

People also wanted slayer as a starting class but Mythic was wise enough not to do it. This game is about war. Bandits don't go to war. It's much safer to do the robbery on empire highways. I expect something more along military path - engineer seems to be the most reasonable choice...

Not really.

Dwarves already have an Engineer class. Do you think Mythic is going to think it's a jolly good idea to have two classes in two different races with extremely similar names and basic concepts (i.e. guy who makes stuff and shoots things), particularly with both on the same side. I believe Mythic are smarter and more original than that. They'll find something decent for the "light ranged damage w/survivability/psuedo-stealth" role, even if it's another College of Magic. I personally expect Pistoliers or Witch-Hunters. I really do think anyone expecting yet more Engineers needs their head examining, though.

So what? Empire got Wizard. Does this mean no wizards (or whatever you call them) for elves and chaos? Engineer is as much iconic for Empire as it is for Dwarfs.

I really do think anyone expecting yet more Engineers needs their head examining, though.Yeah, ok. This is your final argument to give an and to this discussion - "I am right because you're stupid". :-?

It means no Bright Wizards, yes. Any Wizard they do have will be vastly different and will probably not be called a "Wizard". Chaos will call them Sorcerors for sure. Elves will probably call them Mages. They will have an extremely clear differentiation because they will do entirely different kinds of magic with different looking effects, and because the computer gaming world is well-used to the concept of "different kinds of magic" and "different kinds of wizard". The concept of different kind of Engineer amongst allied races is trickier, though, particularly as, unlike magic, Engineers are theoretically limited as to what they can do by the fact that they have to make machines, and one "Steampunk" machine looks much like another, even if the Dwarven one has a bearded dwarven face on it. It's not as distinct as the difference between Bright and Amethyst magic, for example, or as easy to understand.

My final argument is not "You're stupid", why would you need your head examining if you were stupid? My final argument is "I think you think Mythic are stupid and they're not.".

Let's call him "Master Engeneer" than. Let's make his iventions less reliable than dwarven ones, but potientially more devastating (going into extremes) etc. Don't see a problem. It's still as viable option for a class as any other and fits the ongoing war theme at least which i can't say about bandits and witchhunters :P

Sorry, I obviously can't explain the problem to you, because your "solution" is a total non-solution which demonstrates my inability to get my point across. My mistake, I'm sure.

If we see an Empire Engineer, though, I'll be pretty surprised. :p

I'm not a psyker, but I do pay attention in class and read what people post, unlike some.
