I'm in a way dissapointed, because the two classes we were given were the "Duh!" classes, I was hoping for them to whip out the "Didnt see that one coming!" already! :P

Argh, I can't decide between the warrior or the sorcerer, and we don't even know the 2 other classes! :( Oh man this is gonna be agonizing. Badass warrior with a big sword and cool armor, or a sorcerer also in cool armor, but flying on a disk throwing lightning around...uurgh...

I love how they aren't wussing out on the Chaos starter experience, but let us do something very appropriate like shooting the body parts of chopped up villagers from a hellcannon.

You know, I'm afraid I have to agree. I know it's silly to be dissappointed now that we finally got some info, but we pretty much allready knew this.

I don't fell dissapointed, surprised or anything like that. Following Empire interview example it was to be expected that we're gonna get "obvious" careers info first. Now if they release this month's newsletter later today i'll be the most happy dwarf in the Old World. :D

cranmer, we pretty much expected a Wizard and a Warrior Priest yes with Empire, but we werent sure how they were going to handle the 8 winds of magic and the Wizard classes.. So atleast it was like "Woah Bright Wizard!" :P

I agree here, but otherwise its a really nice read, makes it hard to stay with my choosen carrer as warrior Priest. And that Warrior looks absolutely awesome, if thats lower tier armorset I wonder what the highest tier will look like.

Except there really isn't much information on the sorcerer...other than he has a flying disc and throws lightning bolts. I can't tell if he's strictly a damage-dealer like the bright wizard seems to be or he has some support fuctions like the shaman.

I'm still waiting to see what the Chaos support class is...

The Magus (http://pcmedia.gamespy.com/pc/image/article/747/747222/iwarhammer-age-of-reckoningi-the-hordes-of-chaos-20061121045652160.jpg) art doesn't look all that appealing to me.

For starters, having a plate-wearing caster isn't horrible in and of itself, but as a traditional caster player over the years what the Magus is wearing doesn't feel like it "fits". The Warrior equivalent has a large and bluky appeal, but the Magus looks more stubby and less "complete". It's hard to say exactly. For instance, his stomach plate looks like it doesn't fit in with his robe. In fact, the lower portion of his outfit looks incredibly flat from the art perspective.

If it were me, i'd have him with more of a chain-esque looking robe. He could retain the shoulder art, but his chest area and the rest of his robes need to mesh together a bit more nicely.

As for class details, I expect a certian level of consistancy. Humans, Chaos, Greenskin and Dwarfs seem the most physically brutish, so having staple tanks seems... well, staple. I'm sure something a little more interesting will come of elves whom might rely more on grace than shear strength in combat, no? Either way, there are still 2 empire and chaos themed classes unannounced, and we should see at least 1 thing fairly unique come out of the pairs.

Well, it's just concept art. It's hard to say how everything will "fit" until we see some screen shots.

I like the fact that the sorcerer has a helmet. As someone who tends to play casters, I get tired of having to wear idiotic looking cloth hats that are usually pretty low on the "coolness" scale.

I love the Tzeentch sorcerer image - he looks extremely cool. I must agree on your point about flatness, though. But as was already set, it's concept art, and I don't think you can expect them to look two-dimensional in the actual game.

Meh, so the 'duh' classes were released. It was rather inevitable and besides, I've always intended to play a sorceror so I'm quite pleased. The concept art is really very interesting and my faith in Mythic has once been re-affirmed with the whole 'slaughtering village and using their corpses as ammo for a demon canon'. I certainly commend them for the direction they've taken with chaos.

"Eee Paul the game is Teen Rated"

"Oh crap hmm so we will change it into flesh boxes insted of body parts" :D

but im still wondering about Chaos Warrior ;/ is it tank or DPS rather class, they said clearly that warrior will be wearing a big sword, or it will be a hybrid ?, like Black Orc which can take dmg or take 2h choppaz and pwn dorfs

Axxar
11-22-2006, 02:55 PM
I think he'll be primarily a tank. I think he will hit quite hard with his sword though - but he'll probably be slow and thus his DPS won't be comparable to, say, the Orc Choppa's. This is of course speculation on my part, but I was once called clever by some guy, so it might be in your interest to consider this.

Maybe they're saving it for later! We still have 2 to go.
Overall Chaos sounds really flipping cool imo.
I'm hoping for some lifetapping quasi-healer tankish type to play. I know I'm not going to get a tank healer out of Dark Elves, so Chaos is my only hope.

Yeah I know they are saving them, but I mean, these were the two classes that we basically knew were included in by default. :P I wouldnt of minded if they tossed a "wow!" in with a "duh!"

They did. Discs of Tzeentch and stuffing body parts into hellcannons were both "wow!" moments for me. I've always loved the discs and wasnt sure whether tehy would get implemented.

Kraus
11-24-2006, 12:36 AM
The disc is a gimmick that very well might not have any play application, have any special abilities, or be something you get late in the game. The hellcannon is something at the start of the game, and in the starting area. I said fairly specifically "Wow!" classes, and neither hellcannon or the disc is a class :p

Tank healer? Sounds like the warrior priest. You may have to switch sides. :(

We dont know if warrior-priest is a tank, but theres been nothing to indicate that he is.

He wears some heavy armour and carries a big weapon. I think that fits most people's vague definition of "tank healer", assuming he can cast healing spells. Don't get too hung up on the "tank" part. Most people don't specifically mean an melee who holds aggro and takes very little melee damage unless they use the term in specific contexts. I mean, DAoC has "light tanks" for goodness sake, that's a complete contradiction in terms if you take it literally (most Berserkers tank somewhat worse than Shadowblades, for example).

Kraus
11-24-2006, 03:00 PM
Yeah, and he is fairly partially covered by it - no helmet, no leg ramor, just a breastplate and hammer. Problem is that people are going by the stereotypes, a healer is someone in cloth with a pointy stick casting heals all the time, while tank is big and wearing armor.

DAoC has been the ONLY game I've played so far where I've heard breakdowns to light/heavy tanks, so I tend to take anyone calling it a tank as calling it a tank.

Accipiter
11-25-2006, 11:57 AM
We dont know if warrior-priest is a tank, but theres been nothing to indicate that he is.

When he said a "quasi-healer tankish character" , I assumed he meant a character that had healing abilities and was a melee fighter with decent armor, such as the WoW paladin. I think warrior priest fits that description better than any other class they've unveiled so far.

As always, it's all speculative until beta (at least).
