What's marvelous about this is that not only is this piece of armor fantastic and completely captures what we're doing, it's not even one of the top sets of armor!

So, if it's not the top tier armour, what tier do you think it is?

I'm thinking it's a bit too bad- to be tier 1. I'd imagine Tier 1 to perhaps still show some skin.

Assuming we're dealing with Chaos Chosen here (article mentions them as both Warriors and Chosen warriors), I don't think a tier 1 would necessarily show skin. The Chosen are packed with armor after all. My bet is tier 1 or 2; any higher and it just lacks ornaments and spikes IMO.

I say tier 2, but it makes me kind of scared to see tier 4. I mean those guys are going to be intimidating.

Nearly full plate armor, chain mail underneath - Tier 3 i'd say...

Yeah, that's pretty much got to be Tier 3.

Chaos Warriors are always wearing the armor, it just becomes more ornate as the Warrior gets stronger.

So Tier 1 is probably featureless black armor. No bird iconography, no swirls, no fancy stuff. Just functional black armor.

Tier 2 probably starts to add little ornate bits here and there, but that picture has lots of ornate things, so I'd peg it at Tier 3.

Makes me really, really want to see the Tier 4 stuff though :) .

Hm, this really makes me wonder about customizability. I mean, if you're all covered in "plain" chaos armour when you start out: what will the start customizability options be? Maybe you get to choose different armour looks when creating the character?

Tha'ts actually a valid point. The black armor is grafted to the Chaos Warrior's skin. So he can't take it off. They generally don't take the helmet off either (I think they can though).

So the avatar customization for the Chaos Warrior will be kind of interesting. If you customize a human looking guy, it'll be kidn of a waste of time, as you'll never see that human looking guy, heh.

EDIT: oh, and the armor can actually come off, but only by the will of Tzeentch. And generally to remove a bit to be replaced by a new bit.
So it is possible to upgrade the armor.

I'm guessing for a class like that you would HAVE to be able to customize its armor from the bat, because what else are you going to do to customize your looks?

The female magus armor is one tier lower aswell, and that one does not include the disc, so perhaps its a high level thing, thank god

Male Magus looks a bit chubby.
But the models look like they can be pretty sweet.
As long as theres plenty of customization.

Paul stated in an interview that the armor in that picture wasn't even a high tier one.
