W.A.R.P.
http://warp.fatgob.com/forums
For a while now, I have been thinking of doing something to help the role-play and while my guild is in the Progeny of Destruction (http://progenyofdestruction.com) I just thought why not take it a step further? The main idea is very simple, the majority will tell you role-play is the community and without a solid community there will be no role-play to begin with. I figured that this is true, the problem with role-players is that they are in a minority, they have no voice and we usually simple get scraps off the table from the “hardcore” gamer style and ever loud casual gamers.
So I figured, heck why not do something about it, I decided to speak to the other guilds of the Progeny of Destruction and they enjoyed this idea too, so then I started working on it basically.
What is W.A.R.P?
As mentioned before, W.A.R.P., which is short for Warhammer Allied Role Play, is merely a coalition between Order and Destruction guilds to make the role-play server a better place. Before you think about it no, this is not some RP Nazi idea or anything of the sort, rather we debate, we create events and we simply unite together to create a voice for the role-playing crowd, which for so long has suffered being neglected and ignored. (While this is mostly due to the fact that for the most part most companies don’t care, it’s also our fault for not being united.)
How will it work?
Very easily actually, it is similar to the system the European Union uses but even more so liberal. Every guild or even individual player who is not part of a guild can join W.A.R.P. Of course there are some rules involved (which I hope aren’t too harsh) but for the most part (even implementation of new rules) will involve voting.
The main idea is to create a forum, and discuss there since W.A.R.P. is meant to transcend beyond race or faction. Mind you we will not tolerate sympathy between factions in the game, if it’s red its dead (this is WAR!!!). We simply come up with events, discuss role-play initiatives and so on and so forth. Think of it as the gap filled by the lack of forums and in the process also a step up in creating a healthier server with proper role-play awareness.
Rules
Rules have to implemented otherwise nothing will actually happen, if you do not like these rules then I don’t think you really need to be in a role-playing server to begin with. Mainly because they are simply extended versions of the role-playing server rules and are pretty light.
Respect and etiquette: W.A.R.P. accepts anyone who enjoys role-play to any degree, be it light role-play or heavy role-play which dominates your gaming style. As long as you respect each other and respect the Warhammer FANTASY lore (meaning no 40k), there will be no problems. (Also, this involves OOC in public chat; this is prohibited because it detracts immersion from people who are trying to role-play. Keep OOC to the general chat channels and what have you.)
Naming, pigeonholing and game mechanics: Naming policy for individual players and guilds are pretty much equal, be sensible to the Warhammer Lore and abide by the game’s limitation (meaning you are not a Wood elf but a High Elf unless you can really, really look the part which I doubt). This rule extends to pigeonholed names and one worded guild names that are used without making any sense (Basically if your guild name is Power, and you have no real reason or anything of the sort other then having used that guild name for 5 years then honestly, you do not respect the Warhammer world thus we can’t really let you join.)
The non Role-Player: Do not help the obvious non role-player (By obvious I mean the type of player who joined the RP server for the sake of annoying people or has no care for role-players at all). This means simply just ignore him, inform other people about him and report him if needed. Also avoid helping him in game because as most know through experience of that “other game” if you help them and they level up to the point of excellence they will eventually turn your server into another normal server and probably treat you poorly in return.
Rule wise that’s pretty much it, simple and effective. These rules can be changed and made more streamlined if people wish for them to be so. Everything is up to discussion because this a conglomerate of guilds and people united under an ideology; if there are no people and guilds then there isn’t a W.A.R.P to begin with!
The system:
W.A.R.P. has no individual leader; instead, it has a council that is made up of all the guilds and a representative for the guildless members. Everything will be voted upon from the forums and then acted upon by the guild leaders themselves. We work in a system of end justifies the means, basically guilds can use whatever system they want as long as it works with the rules explained above, think of it as a system of Subsidiarity.
Stance on alliances:
As you probably figured out, this initiative is being done by the specific alliance of the Progeny of Destruction which is currently growing its frontiers (The progeny caters for single race destruction guilds so we won’t be “gimped” during release). The Progeny of Destruction is merely one of many alliances we will probably end up seeing on a server, it has no seat of power of any sort, if you want to give it a name it is merely one of the founder alliances. For more information about the Progeny of Destruction please visit (http://progenyofdestruction.com).
Current guilds in W.A.R.P.:
Destruction:
Da Fat Gob Tribe
Sons of Chaos
Da Blood Bashas
Children of Naggaroth
The Brotherhood
The Black Banner
(Allies of Black Banner also considering)
Order:
EU or US?
Oops, was going to completely forget about that…Currently the guilds that have allied for this system are all of European roots, but we are open to any American guilds who want to start the initiative on the US servers. Feel free to contact me about it, my regiment Da Fat Gob Tribe has a US branch so I am sure we can work something out.
Conclusion:
This wall of text must have been an annoying read, and this conclusion is generally not helping. If you want information feel free to post below or send a private message, add me to your skype or msn or buy me a ticket to come visit you in your home country while giving me a generous tour!
