I am disappointed by the Knight of the Blazing Sun...not because I mind the idea or concept - just the opposite, I think they look great - I just don't know why we're being limited to that specific order. Why can't it just be a general Knight/Templar and let people decide what knightly order they are from? It's too specific and limiting in my opinion.

If I had to play Empire I would probably go for the Witch Hunter right now since it sounds very interesting. Totally against the type of class I ussually chose to play.

I disagree. All the Knightly Orders fight the same way, except a few that use slightly different weapons. A generic Knight class would have all the abilities of the Blazing Suns but give the player more choices of appearance.

As it stands, I'll probably play a Bright Wizard.

I read somewhere that they picked this order because in the Lore they don't just go off on solo crusades like other orders but fight together in large groups. So they fit in best with the lore as a player class. Maintaining fidelity to the IP is a big concern for GW and therefore Mythic.

The same reason wizards can't choose thier college, and priests and chaos players can't pick their gods; time constraints and Mythic wanting to do all of these classes justice. Keep in mind, not all expansions can be ones that add new races, I would guess half of them will be adding on to the races that already exist, and that means new classes. I'm sure we'll see the likes of Priests of Ulric, the Rieksguard, new College Wizards, and so on in the future.

Either a Knight of the blazing sun or a Sigmar priest. If the tanks in WAR will be like the tanks in other mmorpgs, which means they can`t really deal decent damage them self, I will probably go for the Sigmarpriest. Please no silly damage taking only for my Knight.

@Flegler ... I know exactly what you are trying to say. I would love the massiv universe that Warhammer is, to be put into this game with as many details and options as possible. It doesn`t seem possible though. I like the Knights of the blazing sun alot, but with every 4-5th guy beeing one, it looses some appeal to be honest. Let`s hope for the best and see what will happen in the next months.

I've wanted to play a character that I created in DAoC, and have been trying to reconcile it as a WAR class from the little bits and pieces we've been feed so far.

I was thinking maybe he'd be Chaos (he was a Highlander Armsman), but now it looks like the Knight might fit the bill.

I didn't give an option for not playing Empire as your main nor did I stipulate that you had to be a planned Empire player to vote. Now we have seen the Warrior Priest's in the Mark of Chaos and the WaR cinematic.
What does he allways do in the end? -- He glows, I don't think any Warrior would be able to actually get Sigmar's godly stats, however, I think it's something like it.

So a maxed (highest rank in highest tier) maxes his morale, he is able to use this temporary abillity making him a killing machine, that's why YOU should pick the Warrior Priest, because he's as close as you're going to get to Sigmar.

Karl Franz first appeared on the table in 4th edition Warhammer, where he was just a regular Empire general with an extra point of Leadership and some nice magic items. He got a make-over in the Storm of Chaos but he never had godly powers.

In fact, when he first appeared in Warhammer fluff he was a politician, not a fighter. I'd much rather he stayed this way. He has a personal champion and elite bodyguards to protect him, and many capable generals to fight his battles. He doesn't need to go gallivanting about on a griffon like some kind of Bretonnian.

Also, the Mortal Sigmar won't that powerful, problably as powerful as a Warrior Preist of Ulric since he worshipped Ulric. When Sigmarite Preists begin to glow, they get super human strength and anti daemon energy, meaning he very well might just have slapped that Bloodthirster silly in the MoC trailer;) , just like the Force Commander V Bloodthirster in DoW.

I doubt chaos or dark elves will come with a better class. I wouldn't play dark elves anyway. Puny elves..... Chaos seems to be more in the sinister direction. I want crazy. 189 in empire, 199 in dwarf, and 60 in greenskin...indicative of the various levels of interest, I think. even with the interest in greens, few people like them enough to spend time on their forums, so I think that will translate into ppl want to look, but not play.

I don't honestly think it is indicative of interest, it's indicative of when race info was released, how much was released, how much there is to talk about and so on. I do agree that Greenskins will (perhaps ironically, given that they are extremely numerous in the Warhammer setting), be the least-played race, closely followed by Dwarfs.

yeah, i'd definetly say bright wizard for me, for a few awesome reasons:D

1) Blowing **** up with fire? How much cooler can you get!?
2) It's one of the LEAST picked classes. Let's keep it that way, hmm? I can't stress this one enough, when I play any MMO, I always pick one of the classes with the least amount of players. It's just so cool, because you get more attention in groups, more pressure to do more, since there's less of you, and generally, if there's a loot drop for your class, it's less likely that you'll have a lot of competition :p

Warrior Priest is indeed the most interesting class to me, whilst many a likening it to a pally from wow, i dont agree entirely. If you read through the info based aroudn the character class you see that it does have a weakness (and it isn't a priest mana burn :P)

None the less it looks balanced, can heal/buff of sorts so it is 2 thumbs up for me.

Witch Hunter, for three reasons:

1) The weaponry. Pistols, rapiers, all that sweet stuff.

2) The purging. Because burning people with hot pokers (in the game) will be fun!!:D

Bright wizard as I feel rather drawn to this whole pyromania thing. Actually it is the class I would prefer to play the most in any of the battlegrounds and on either side.

Its clear if a game is designed for fantasycomputergame-known paladins, then its ok for that game, but if you want to see warhammerknights or priests then you are knowing there exist no kind of warriortype paladin in warhammer.
Main problem is for fantasygames, they differ between 'war'riors, mages, clerics as adventurers.
But warhammer has nearly only warriors, but like real soldiers with different functions. They are warriors for warfare. Mages, priests, knights, halberdiers, archers (all soldiers) are warriors.
Its a fact folks who dont know anything about warhammer are not able to see. But so i think everyone who likes and know something about warhammer should give some hints why warhammer is different in 'world' building and 'society' (its a war-society, not an adventurer society) to other fanatsycreations, especially D&D adventure like games.

Though I'm not sure how it work very well, I mean There's tons of options but aren't the roles already filled? Wouldn't any new classes simply be re-doing what we already have?

I mean.. a tanks a tank, it can work differently but it's purpose is the same - to take hits , to distract the enemy and stop them from attacking allies.

I'd kinda like Advanced classes , which would spice things up a little but once again there's the issue of how would they implant em'?

I would have been a knight, but since it's Kotbs that worships a stupid deity, I'm going with a Sigmar worshiping class I suppose. I also don't like the idea of a knight that fights dishonorably with under-handed tactics.

So for now Warrior Priest since I like support combat classes that fight in melee combat and are tough to kill. Not to mention being solely dedicated to Sigmar is awesome.

Hmm toss up really. Warrior Priest or Witch Hunter. I've always played Hybrids, and WoW being my most recent and addicting MMO, I had played a paladin thru closed beta and all the way thru xpack. They pumped it up to be a 2h dude killing and supporting, like the WAR warrior priest. Didn't turn out....

But I know WAR will be different, so I'll prob go with WP. Would do a knight but I dislike the Blazing Sun sect.

I'm coming over from Guild Wars, and although my first character there was a warrior, I started playing as an alt elementalist and could hardly step away (something like over 1300 hours of my 2100+ as an ele, the rest spread over 9 other alts). I even spent the whole time (minus earth farming) as a fire specialist.

What can I say, nuking is in my blood. I can't help but look at a battle unfolding around me and see all the spots that could use a fireball... I built a decent reputaion amoung various guilds in GW, helping them get through spots they previously failed ten times in a row. I came to be known by my character, and not a string of them.

How could Lord Dobo not be reborn as the fire mage that he is?

I have always always always tried to roll a mage. in every game i have ever played. dating all the way back to the UO days... and yet... for some reason, it doesn't matter how much i wanna play a caster... i always end up as a tank! ... not sure why... something about being able to take a hit i guess. so for now i say Bright mage... But in future... i wouldn't doubt in a second if i became a WP or KotBS (though i would most likely be a chosen instead of the knight) (but that is another story; i have such a hard time playing an evil char! maybe im just weird)

Seeing as how I will be PVP based, I will go with what my team needs.
I first thought Witch Hunter, but I feel like I'll be focused first and wont be as useful to my team as like say a Warrior Priest. Bright Wizard is tempting but I've played a fire mage in WoW and Dark Age. The pure blasting power of casters always makes me smile but in the long run I always prefer to have some armor and a melee weapon.
I've narrowed it down to KOTBS and Warrior Priest, tough decision. But still leaving my options open.

Play what you want to play. There will be a massive influx of Order players at release; you'll be significantly happier playing the class which appeals to you more, than making your decision based on perceived player numbers.

I'm really surprised at the results in this poll. Bright Wizards in last? Wha?

I bet it'll be different in game, a lot of people on these forums are people who played the original table top game and are really into the lore. I can see how its kinda restrictive, but it has two major things going for it:

1) Major DPS class, which is always popular.
2) Its freaking fire!!!! How do you beat that? ;)

So I think that this poll might be a little skewed (although I'm 100% sure we'll see more wtichunters Empire side then anything else). But I feel that Wizards will out pace the other two classes in the actual game. (Not to mention every single person coming from WoW will see Warrior Priest as PALADIN!!! NO!!!!!!!)

I picked Warrior Priest for now, but I may switch to KofBS. I feel both could be spectacular. I'll just have to see who can suppliment a better offense as well as their primary role of tank or support. Either way, I'll be in the thick of things, which is where anyone who knows me knows I belong.

Edit: I also think the Knights look cheesy in many of the pictures, while the WPs look pretty good. Again, I'll have to wait to see if anyone joins me and see what they play.

It just makes sence that a class like that would do more damage from behind. There have been classes doing "backstab" since pen & paper RPG as far back as at least the 70s. This is nothing new. Any oppertunist type class is going to have an easier time damage someone when they can't avoid it/defend the attack as well. The difference is that you won't have to worry about the Witchhunter disappearing when you swung your sword at him a second ago. That has always bothered me.
