The Witch Hunter
"The coolest class we are ever going to do! … They fight by putting a flintlock in your mouth!"
- Paul Barnett, Design Manager
So, apparently we can use our pistols at point-blank range.
I think this one should be a dmg/knockback execution.
Name? "Kiss the Flames/Mercy of Sigmar"
Thoughts?

If they can persuade someone to confess I'm sure Witch Hunters will have all manners of nasty things to finish off an interrogation.

Sigmar's Mercy would be shooting an ally to put them out of their misery. Kiss the Flames... no.
Sigmar's Justice, or Sigmar's Judgement would be more appropriate here.

Actually the quick death by blowing your head of with a flintlock could be considered "mercy" compared with letting you live as a heretic :>

I'm sure you mean "torturing them before burning them at the stake" and not "letting them live as a heretic". Because that certainly isn't an option.

No. Way. In. Hell.
They'll burn, shoot, burn some more, kill with a sword, burn again, drive a stake through em, burn baby burn!, use holy potions such as Shallya's Tears ( yes, I did get that directly from Witch Hunter Series )
And last but not least, TORTURE! Bring out the white hot pokers!
Am I a sadistic person? Well, not by nature but I do try.

He meant in the sense in that they won't turn around and attack the good guys. Good post though.

And what if the executions were triggered under certain conditions? Everquest II (which, frankly, I haven't explored past the trial) had a quite interesting system called "heroic opportunites" which, if triggered, would then display a sequence you had to follow in order to gain beneficial effects. What if the executions would work in a similar manner? Here's an example, with hypothetical abilites :
-Witchhunter triggers the "execution mode" when he has a certain amount of "confession meter" filled up.
-Witchhunter uses the "feint" ability.
-Witchhunter uses the "backhand" ability.
-Witchhunter then finally unleashes the "lead mercy" execution move.
Naturally, a different combination of abilites would result in a different execution. Additionally, some executions could be tied to a certain value of "confession meter".
What do you think?

Interesting, a slightly more complicated setup, but I think one that would afford some fun. I'm having flashbacks to playing fighting games - ccc--cccc--COMBOOOOOOOOOO!

In real life, usually after someone confessed their sins they were not executed. I think it would be neat if they could give exp for forcing a confession and not having to kill. Treat it still like a kill but not a kill, a more powerful skill absolution.

Except in the Inquisition. A confessed heretic got to be strangled before they were burned, so they'd die quickly. A persistent heretic would get to burn slowly.

Never said I was an expert in anything. But, I still think it would be cool.

I think I read somewhere that sometimes the witch hunters of england placed black powder in the pockets of some of their victims before burning at the stake as a kind of mercy killing. Then again maybe I watched to much television.

I forgot what this one thing was called but basically these group of christian knights went around torturing people who didn't believe in their god and when they finally turned they killed em so they could meet their maker.
